easily my favorite 90's band, beating out so many grunge acts I grew up listening to at the time, I own all their albums, and have a bunch of B-sides on a CD-R, love me some Catherine Wheel
Amen to that Stephanie!!!!, Do you have the early 80s cover of Wish You Were Here before they added the harmonica? It was on some promo cd single Ive long since lost. All I can find is there version on Like Cats and Dogs. Would LOVE to find that
Ultimate 90's sound for me. Thank you Catherine Wheel and dear friend for introducing me, I'm a musician and you've changed my life since then. Along with The Wipers, the most underrated bands I know, this song is a freakin anthem.
I don't understand why this band were not huge. For me, they were the soundtrack to the nineties. As soon as I listen to this brilliant song I am transported back to my youth!
What truths of life, huh. I mean it's a good song and there is some good sense, but to call it "major truths of life" is an overstatement. It's a good song, not a great ancient philosophy book.
They were an amazing band, great live and a catalog of magic songs. I never quite got why they weren't huge. They certainly had everything going for them. The same with 60ft Dolls.
I LOVE THIS SONG...I FEEL LIKE IT'S ABOUT ME...LOL!!! THERE ARE THOSE SONGS THAT JUST TOUCH ON SOMETHING AND THEY TRANSCEND...THIS IS ONE OF THOSE SONGS....AND IN DOING SO, IT'S A MASTERPIECE OF BRIT ROCK!!!! ONE OF MY FAVOURITE BANDS OF ALL TIME....I LOVE CATHERINE WHEEL!
I think it's called "My side of the mountain" either that is the movie title or the book title. I can't remember exactly but I remember reading the book and watching the movie in grade 6.
I saw the movie for the first time today. Had a hard time understanding the accents but nevertheless it was pretty bleak, hopeful, disappointing...I ran through all the motions. I'm glad to have finally watched it.
This should've been on the local airwaves instead of that grossly overplayed Metallica 'Turn The Page' cover that some seemed to play every other hour. (looking at you Live105)
I wish this band could have gotten more attention than they did.

Probably CW's best song ever, a masterwork filled with some major truths of life.
I still think Black Metallic is their magnum opus. This song is my 2nd favorite.

No band takes me back to the late 90s like these guys. Excellent and unique guitar sound. Saw em at the HFSteval in DC in 91 on the Ferment tour.
You saw them in 92 not 91. I was there!
And all my friends are gone....gone....gone....
I listen to this song over and over till I'm
gone.... gone..... gone.....

I don't understand why it only has 23k hits, but I'm glad all the same for my sake; I'll be one of a few who knows and enjoys this beautiful song.
10k hits more in 10 months isn't so bad
16 years passed since I first heard this song. Now I understand the meaning.
I still have the green limited edition single for this. I feel old.
great track, awesome movie (Kes by Ken Loach)
+Andrey Ivankov thx
brings back memories of coyote js the edge show on sunday night on 94.1 zbq /tuscaloosa. one of catherine wheels best songs
This is my anthem. All my friends are gone, and I wear Pumas.
Love this tune, loved it live too
'Kes' short for Kestrel, the hawk.
And all our friends are gone.
THe GREATEST ROCK SONG SINCE.....you name it!
3:55 this melancholic sound right here, man…

God bless England
Love the song (&CW) but Kes reminds me (in a bad way) of school in the North in the 70s....and I was at a grammar school

Great song
Love it.
love it!
Badass
film?
Reminds me of my childhood when having my own personality made me a loner.
The movie shown is called "Kes"
Absolutely impossible not to break the speed limit while listening to this
@foaj77
Its called Kes !
Nope, it's Kes.
Can you (anyone) reply with the title of the film used for the video?
Kes.
@@heroesytumbas Thank you.
I too miss the loss of CW. I've met them and from my understanding they just burnt out. Rob would rather work on his classic cars.
what's the movie title?
I had this on mp3, then the phone shat the bed. Spotify doesn't have it... :(
Matthew Witmer Freemake TH-cam to MP3 Boom is your answer to that problem.
