    The corner blurring is not due to eye astigmatism or blurry eyes. It is due to the pupillary distance of our eyes. That said, some eyes will see all of the screen without edge blurring.

    these nuances are exactly the info i need in order to understand. i was leaning toward the viture for a day, then saw an explaination about the warmth they produce. a deal breaker. xreal seems to be the best. as you explain about the distortion, i may retrun to researching the quest3. thank you much for your hard work and diligence.

    Very good, detailed video 🤗 I’ve ordered the Xreal Air 2 Pros per your video, I’ve had the Legion Glasses, but the blurryness and the comfort were an issue for me and I had to return them 😞

      Yea, with this tech, it really has to fit the person just right in order to fully function. I hope the Xreal's work out for you. That dimming feature is going to be so much fun 😆. Thanks for watching, have an awesome day!

    Great video! You covered everything I could ask for on that topic. I returned my Xreals. 1440p is a good wish for the future. I would add bigger FOV and wireless connection to the list

    • @ColtonJ
      @ColtonJ  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Ah, wireless connection, yea good ideas lol. Those Rayneo X2 Lite glasses will be wireless, have a battery and processor, and be self driven, I'm excited to see those (maybe by the end of 2024). For some reason, I have this divide in my head about these content/gaming-driven types of glasses, with projection screens you can see built into the lenses (that block half the lens), and those daily productivity-driven TCL types where they appear as fully normal, see-through, glasses. Either way, it's great we're getting more options. Thanks for the good vibes, as always 🙃.

  • @xybersurfer
    @xybersurfer 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    i read that blurry edges is caused by Inter-Pupillary Distance of the user, and the fact that it can't be adjusted

    • @ColtonJ
      @ColtonJ  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'd bet that contributes to some of it, for some people. I have sharp edges on other brands, so it's hard to say the difference. I think it depends on the user.

  • @alpaykasal2902
    @alpaykasal2902 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +17

    This would be a great video if you didn't constantly refer to both, practically identical, glasses as 'these', against a black backgrounf. You've made a bunch of valuable comments, but i have no idea which to attribute your comments to. Constructive criticism, not trying to be a karen. Awesome content otherwise.

    • @ColtonJ
      @ColtonJ  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

      You're right, I realize I did that at times. I had two cameras and I was pointing or holding one or the other pair when referring to points, but after editing, the specific camera isn't always the one used. Being that I recorded this in one single take, due to my limited time, I couldn't go back to record a second time, lol.
      I believe I countered many of these issues by labeling the sections and which item I'm focusing on per section. If the video is skipped around, which I fully understand, I can see where it can be confusing. Either way, I will do better at differentiating each comment in the next comparison. Thanks for the feedback.

      Great content...BUT please never say "these" in a comparative review. I had to stop watching it was too hard to follow. Keep working! Also, When doing reviews its helpful to break down into catagorical sections. Try to be concise with your review and domt bounce around so much...Great production...keep going!

    • @ColtonJ
      @ColtonJ  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No worries. I could improve this, I agree. Though, it is broken in specific sections in which I am specifically talking about that pair. It is long, so if skipped around the section labels would be missed, and it would be harder to follow. I'll take the info for the next one.

    Have you tested Rokid ? I keep going back and forth between Rokid and Xreal.

    • @ColtonJ
      @ColtonJ  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Unfortunately, no I have not. The design and appearance was something that I would likely never wear. Some glasses fit certain people better, so that is subjective. They are all on a pretty similar field of function though. I know those have diopter adjustments, so that may be better for people struggling to get a clearer view. However, I cannot give any feedback on the real-life use, lol.
      Realistically, you just want the one that actually functions the best. If it can look good and function, that's a win-win. If it were me, and I was indecisive, I would just order the one my instincts tell me I would like slightly better. Then, I would test it in the return period. I know that's not ground-breaking help, but that's what it usually comes down to. 🤣 Good luck

    • @jeanneardinger3664
      @jeanneardinger3664 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I know the xreal appeal to me for several reasons, including looks. I am near sighted though and the Rokid might not need script inserts, might is key since I'm a higher number than 6. I wish bestbuy or micro center had displays I could try. Can I return either if they don't work well for me ? Return of electronics always seems difficult.

    • @ColtonJ
      @ColtonJ  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yea, these aren't a known enough item to be in Best Buy, yet, lol. On Amazon, if you look to the right under the "sold by" section, it should say the company "Xreal direct," for example. You'll want to order from the company and not a 3rd party. On top of that, Amazon lists "free returns." However, it looks like both companies take quite a while for their Amazon returns. 30 days to process and something like 7 days to potentially push the credit back... but that's likely case by case. Just mind the return period, some begin from buy date, some from receive date. Using PayPal can help dispute things, if you're going another route. I would search if other people with similar prescriptions have had success with either model. Good luck

  • @pharaohsmagician8329
    @pharaohsmagician8329 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If you wear glasses, do you really need to use the lenses prescription? What if I wear them without glasses? In a a dark room is it just as hard as viewing real life without glasses if you need to wear them.
    As in, if my vision is poor normally can I use these normally, or does it risk getting blurry and low quality.
    I am under the assumption that the prescription lense was just for using them as Sunglasses when outdoors. I dont intend to walk around or be outside of bed with these, so I dont need it for that.
    But if you need perspection lenses to just match how you see the screen mirror basic functions to match useful real life visual clarity then its a big thing to consider. Maybe you can just wear contacts?

    • @ColtonJ
      @ColtonJ  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm not sure I'll answer this correctly, but I'll tell you my thoughts. I believe you will need prescription lenses in the insert, if you require them. This is the same thing as looking at a screen a few feet from you. Everyone seems to gauge the size differently, but it's a 20+ inch screen a few feet away, for my perspective.
      If you normally need your glasses to see the screens a few feet in front of you, you'll likely need them here. You may run into additional issues, such as blurry edges, etc. So, you will need something. I'm not sure on contacts, but I'd assume that's the solution right there.
      I would use contacts, if you're trying to avoid inserts. However, I think you blink a lot more and focus harder, so the contacts may get dry and uncomfortable. They also may cause light refraction, etc. I cannot test that theory for you, but I believe they should work to an extent, and may fully be your solution, depending on your sensitivity and eyesight. Good luck

    When using screen duplicate on window 11 the nreal airs orientation is not correct.
    Do you have a fix for this? I know that you can use extend or screen 2 to fix it. But I wanted to screen duplicate with both in the correct orientation.

    • @ColtonJ
      @ColtonJ  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey, I just checked for you, and I do not have that issue. I checked all 3 modes. Here are some really quick things off the top of my head:
      1) Basic, yes, but do a fresh restart of the computer (especially if you constantly put it to sleep or hibernate only)
      2) In the display settings, scroll down to "scale & layout." Under the "display orientation" tab, try changing those to see if anything changes.
      3) Try adjusting resolution and refresh rate when using the glasses only. It's possible that your device is having an issue with the 120Hz, if your glasses are in that mode.
      4) Try updating your device graphic drivers. However, if extend works, it's unlikely this is the issue
      5) Is the Windows device a native portrait device or a convertible tablet mode type? If the orientation of the Windows device is locked in portrait, it may be doing that to the glasses...
      6) Update your Nreal glasses. I had not connected them to the Nebula app for over a year. They were so far behind the newest firmware that I was forced to do it via desktop because Nebula stated they were up to date. They were definitely not up to date, lol. There are several steps to update it, and you want to make sure to do them in order. Make sure you follow EVERY step exactly as they say. Once this is done, it may fix it. Here is the link: activation.nreal.ai/en/nreal-air-upgrade-0914.html
      Either way, it's hard to speculate with so little info, but maybe that'll help, lol. Good luck

    • @ColtonJ
      @ColtonJ  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can't say for certain, but I would assume not. I believe those glasses use alt DP over USB C as well, and their devices should input the same as the Xreal ones, but I bet there's some sort of proprietary handshake to block this or variation in the pins. I wouldn't risk it unless someone can verify for sure.

    • @ColtonJ

      I have not tried it, but here's what I would do. I would use the official adapter here: amzn.to/4c84MVe from Xreal. That adapter has a 3 hour battery life. So if you're good with just playing Switch for 2-3 hours at a time, that's all you'll need.
      If you need to keep it charged and use it longer, you can use this adapter here: amzn.to/4eD0vuD . With the Xreal adapter, this second adapter will let you charge and play it at the same time. You'll need both. It will also let you charge your phone at the same time, if you use that.

    • @ColtonJ
      @ColtonJ  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Based on empirical evidence, it's certainly not the same with all brands. If that were true, my testing and results would have been the exact same for both glasses, lol. Most issues for people are results of face shape, fitment, and vision issues (whether they're aware they have them or not).
      It is true that this niche of pseudo AR glasses will not fully function for everyone, but it's 100% false that they won't work for anyone. They didn't work for you, I hear that. However, many brands of these work flawlessly for thousands of others, including myself. Maybe you'll get a pair that works for you in the future. Good luck

      Lol, being that I make a whopping $0 from doing this, it's going to be hard to reinvest for a $400+ desk simply to change the color based on the color of item I'm reviewing. My aim is to help people out, and I do the best I can with what I have. However, I will keep that in mind for the future.
      Yes, contrast could always improve in any video, but on several of my screens it's highly distinguishable. There's also a lot of up-close footage that should give very detailed clarity.
      That being said, here are some suggestions:
      1) Try changing the resolution to 4k. TH-cam defaults really poor resolutions on certain devices and to certain viewers. You may be viewing this at 480p, if on a small phone. Manually setting resolution can certainly change things.
      2) Turn off any "blue light filter" "eye filter" or "nightlight" feature you may have on. This tends to reduce contrast heavily.
      3) Turn up the brightness of your device. Occam's Razor, lol
      Maybe that will change your thumbs down upside-down 🙃
