these are very good and i'm enjoying them a lot one thing i do want to mention is that while the pale king does CLAIM that the bugs were mindless before his rule, that could very easily have been a lie, given we knew the moths, mantis and deepnest bugs alongside others all had their own communities, presumably with sapiance. he simply said that they were mindless to the people to rid himself of any blame for taking over their land, or at least, that's how i've interpreted it.
I believe that many bugs (possibly some have greater sentience than others naturally) may have been mostly mindless due to Quirrel forgetting about Hallownest over time he was away from The Kingdom and also the one large bug that Quirrel speaks to in his comic (the name escapes me), though I really do like your interpretation. It also makes sense to tell this to the bugs so they would view him as godly, while we see he’s very mortal, dead on his throne.
about that, it's possible the reason quirrel lost his memory is not because of the wastelands breaking him down, but instead the mask he was forced to bear. given how masks work in hallownest, basically being such a strong part of you as an individual (would make a nice video) i imagine being forced to wear someone elses would mess with your mind. we don't really know enough to say anything for sure but i like to think a lot of the things the pale king said were lies solely created to control the kingdom he ruled (threatening people not to leave as they would lose their thought, in this case) and that while he may have been a god, he never had that level of power
I actually really like that theory. It’s also kind of backed by, apparently he had an ability of foresight, to be able to tell the future, as noted by the Giant Mushroom we find dead in the Fungal Wastes. That didn’t help him much against the infection, so maybe that was propaganda as well. I’m not exactly a theory person as much as I love telling the stories, but maybe a video is in order sometime bringing the King into question 🤔
Thank you! I work really hard to present this in a way that feels like you may actually be in the world, listening to the story being told. You can find a playlist on my channel for more, and to be able to listen through them all sequentially for a good night rest.
These videos are very underrated
Thank you so much for making these. Please don’t stop anytime soon!
Only when I run out of lore! Hopefully Silksong will be out before then.

WHY DO YOU ONLY HAVE 88 SUBS?!?!?!?!?
It feels like we're listening to the story in the City of Tears itself
