  • Backpack and handheld sprayers are a staple for a lawn care company, especially for those focused on weed control and fertilization. I show several different sprayer in this video including 2 gallon handheld sprayer as well as 4 gallon backpack sprayers. I also show both battery and pump sprayers. I talk about the pros and cons of the sprayers. I also demonstrate how far one of the sprayers will spray which is actually over 20 feet. Here are the sprayers shown in the video. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the larger hole with the measuring up is used to to fill the tank with water and chemicals. I think the smaller hole you pointed out is used by the machine to draw liquid out of the tank when spraying.

Hey Jason I have the flow zone I love them because they are very consistent with putting the rate of 1000 square feet as lone as you walk slow to normal pace . Also another thing they can shoot a stream about 30 feet if your in need of that and the sprayer handle is like a pressure washer handle very nice never had much trouble but I clean mine after spraying

Cool, I’ve considered using the Ryobi 1 gal sprayer but I don’t do much spraying so I have traditionally used just a handheld pump up. In my last job we had an echo backpack sprayer but I didn’t like it it always leaked. Good vid thx for the info!

Hey Jason, im just a DIY guy but I’ve got a 2 gallon smith sprayer that I use to spot spray my herbicides. This past season I also bought a 2 gallon battery sprayer, it looks exactly the same as the Smith but is marked under the name Field King. I use the battery sprayer for blanket applications, things like pre emergent and bio stimulants. All I need for now but they work well.

Wow. That Milwaukee sprayer has some power. Looks like a good one for spraying trees. I have a Solo backpack sprayer, diaphragm model. I regret not getting the battery powered pump version. The shoulder straps could be larger/more padded (holds 4 gallons max - gets heavy).

I've owned numerous hand-held pump-up sprayers, but once I used a battery powered backpack sprayer...very seldom do I use the hand-held pump up sprayers any more! I did use one of my old Echo hand-held sprayers this past summer for a chelated iron application as I did not want to permenantly stain my backpack sprayer.
Battery Powered backpack sprayer...Petra Tools HD4000. I have been very pleased with the performance. I've had to replace the battery one time. Leaving it on the charger after receiving a full charge evidently reduces the service life of the battery. I've had a few minor issues such as a wand replacement, nozzle replacement, etc..., which Petra replaced at no charge. They have provided outstanding customer care! The nozzles that come with the sprayer are not necessarily to my liking so I went to Tractor Supply and purchased a 4-pack of bronze fan shape nozzles. I would purchase the Petra Tools HD4000 sprayer again!
I do have two hand-held pump up sprayer foamers used to apply termiticide...1)B&G Versafoamer one-gallon 2) SOLO brand two-gallon foamer. Both are good products, but a LOT of pumping is required to obtain what seems to be a minimal amount of foam. I would most definitely recommend a battery powered foamer!
Great review, btw...to the point, not a lot of wasted time on non pertinent information or promoting/drawing attention to yourself as SO MANY you tube videos seem to focus on. I will subscribe to your channel!
And btw, I have a couple of WalMart HART products. I may try their backpack sprayer b/c I've been pleased w/ the brand so far!

I have been using the Ryobi 4 gallon back pack sprayer for a couple years. The hose breaks down quicker than I expected and the inside suction tube swells and doesn’t seal allowing air in and cavitation in the pump not allowing you to empty the sprayer.
I have recently put my hands on the Dewalt 4 gallon battery sprayer and it seems to be a beast. Very well made. It has a suction strainer inside which to me was impressive. Heavy duty hose and wand. Can’t wait to try it out and see how it sprays.

I've been happy with the Ryobi hand held sprayer. The backpack one is only ok. The filter for the inlet is too fine and I've had multiple occasions where I've had to pull it out of a tank full of chemicals to scrub it clean before I could go back to spraying. Two years in and the hose got a crack in it as well. It can be replaced but requires security torx bits to get the old hose off.

thanks jason. I run the stihl SG20's for my 4 gallon sprayers. They are manual and work decent. Ive got a lot of use out of them, and I purchased 3. Straps are ok, hoses and spray nozzle is pretty good, and they have a wide mouth for filling. Every year, I take them apart and clean them out, oil the ball valves, pump assembly etc. Haven't had much luck with the electric sprayers though. I got about a year out of them, and then they fail. But with that said....like you, I keep chemicals in them for extended periods of time which isnt the best thing for them either. Seals break down etc. I also run two 2 gallon sprayers to keep assorted chemicals on hand. Hope this will be a good year!!

Is there a seller that sells a flat 360 degree spray head? the typical spray head does not get to the underside/backside of the leaves and I have a terrible problem of leaf hopper on my grapes. the grapes grow against a fence so I can't get to the back side to spray for them. I saw a sprayer once that sprayed 360 deg, so you could stick the spray head behind the vines and it would spray all around the back side. Help!

Lawn Care Life: I use a 25 gallon sprayer mounted to a four wheeler with a boomless spray tip. About 25 foot wide pattern. But have started using the handgun to spray Change Up and Prodiamine. When using the boomless spray tip I worry if its getting the right amount on the lawn. I use blue dye so I can see that it is hitting all weeds so is that acceptable? Hey Jason. Ryobi & even Walmart Hart name brand makes similar 1 & 2 gallon sprayers at much lower price point. Wondering if you've compared them against the Milwaukee. One thing I don't think I would like about the Milwaukee is the spray wand is straight instead of angled at the last few inches to help spraying down onto a lawn. Any thoughts on that? Thanks. Always enjoy & appreciate your content.

Tomahawk E backpack sprayer is the worst sprayer ever made mine broke in 4 weeks
Flowzone is pretty good but I usually run into an issue with Flowzone 8-10 months in either the battery goes out or a switch
Birchmier Electric is good too but overpriced and the one I had leaked from the black plastic bean shape area near the hose but they gave me a new free 1 even out of warranty
