Is a little tire stretch ok? What's your thoughts? Also, make sure to add your car to the largest online fitment gallery! www.fitmentindustries.com/add
A little stretch is ok, like -10-20 on width but nothing more for something that’s going on public roads. I can’t in good conscience drive on something that could cause an accident if a tire doesn’t hold bead or I skid because my rim went to the tarmac. I enjoy seeing stretch as “auto art” at shows but hope people trailer them home....
I love how they look on older cars, especially on original GTRs or the old Toyota Cressidas. On newer cars it looks a bit silly to me, but it can be just as clean.
how do i read tire / wheel sizing? theyre usually something like 20x 5x 10x or something 20 would be diameter, 5 would be width, what's the 10 for? (i just made up the numbers for simplicity)
Stretch looks good on some cars to a point. Excessive stretch usually looks stupid, but stretching the tires for a reason (to a certain degree) is okay and can make the fitment look more flush.
Isn't the whole point of running a wider wheel is to have a larger foot print for better traction, stretching tires just looks like you couldn't afford the right size or you just look like an idiot that can't order the right size wheel.
Craziest i've seen online was a frickin 205/35R18 on a 12J. They've glued the tire to the inner barrel so it wouldn't debead. Craziest i've seen at car show was 225/35R19 on a 11,5J and thats a huge stretch also.
That’s what I’ve been saying too. Even a little bit of tire stretch makes your wheels ten times more attractive, and more unique than the other guy with the same wheels.
I'm having real trouble finding the right(legal size wheel, 15''x 6J ET36 and tires 185/55/15) for my car(renault clio 2 2002). so my question is if I go with a 15''x 6.5J ET35 and with a tire 185/65/15 will this be considered a safe(minimal) strech?
Should be okay, However our gallery is a great reference for questions like this where you need to see pictures to verify that everything clears! www.fitmentindustries.com/search-wheel-offset-gallery
Mild stretch is good, but if you have to trailer the car to the show because its stretched so far it cant be driven over a rough patch in the road for risk of de-beading then, no. I am waiting on my first set of stretch tires on 3sdms that I got from FI but I am balancing performance and aesthetics. While the wheel is about 1.5" wider than stock at 8.5" I'm still running the stock width tire at 225, this way my contact patch is not decreased and my already existing struggle to grip at launch is not impacted. You need to perform, but look good doing it, thats how I roll. And about the origin, I'll agree it was the Euro scene, if you look at a Eurotuner or Performance VW mag from the late 90 or 2000s, they are all over the pages, though now its much more extreme variants.
What u people think about a set up like 8.5 18 inch with 205/40 and 9.5 18 with 225/40 need to fit my wheel for a e46 330ci front qheels et 10 rear ones et30
The stretchers usually get fed up of changing tires, so they convince one of their bros to buy their car. Then the cycle continues. I have seen these cars get towed by police . It is a style that you can show all the high school kids that you made it, one year after graduation.
I'm thinking of getting a dodge derango 2014 or newer, would it be a good idea to stretch on the derango? Is there anyone out there that has a derango modded to the teeth?
Lowriders have been stretching tires over 14 and 15” Wires since the seventies. I’m not a modern fan though. So Millennials, you didn’t do it first. Lol ...... Stance is a whole ‘nother can o worms.
I like stretch tires but not to much where the rim is sticking out .. it brings out the rim and if you have you carr droped it doesn’t hit the your fenders..

I would prefer a meaty tire, but until I have the guts to cut my fenders for flares. Ill have stretched tires:(
Find the details for your current wheel, specifically the bolt pattern i.e. 4x108 - any wheels with the same bolt pattern will fit, space providing... Remember that offset numbers are opposite to what you might think, i.e. ET10 sticks out further than ET35!
Just put new wheels and tyres on my car, had a bit of "accidental" stretch. I thought that an 8.5" wheel would have maybe a liiiiittle bit of stretch with a 225/35 tyre i was wrong. Oh boy was i wrong, but it turned out sick so i don't really mind :)
I'm also jealous you can drive arround without AC in your winters. Over here we are blasting max heat through the AC to de-fog/de-ice the windshields and to not freeze our asses off 😂
Matt Cannon having a stretched tire makes the side wall less flexible (stiffer) which is bad for grip, drift cars don’t need grip as they like to make the tires lose grip quicker making it easier to initiate a drift and keep the drift going. You won’t see any stretched tires on a proper race car, or rally car.
stretched tire fitment is the ultimate way to go to make your ride pop, its the last and ultimate bling factor one can do to show off their ride. Of course you want to do it right so that it looks as if its riding on wheels and not rubber, although that s2k was doing too much. and its not for every particular car such as you definitely won't see it on a car used for the track. And I doubt it serves a function for drifting otherwise we would've been seeing it on formula drift cars (unless that extra sidewall stiffness is not allowed). In short, a little bit of tire stretch on oversized wheels looks good on a lowered car modified with the purpose of form over function.
Stretching the tire isn't TOO bad if you live in a city with good roads. Socal roads + rubber bend tires = No Fun Also, so you want a honda coupe ( both civic and accord ) maybe day #5 saying this🤔
I would never be seen in a car with stretched tires and tilted wheels, but then again, people who like it probably wouldn't like the looks of my overlanding truck. As long as you're not putting others in danger on the road, go your own way.
There is a such thing as a tasteful stretch. But most stance guys run a disgusting amount of stretch. It looks absolutely ridiculous lol kind of cool to see but I would never
The tire stretch is one thing, as long as the tire won't de-bead flying down the highway, thus endangering your fellow motorists with an accident caused by "scene creds" . The real problem is stretched tires coupled with extreme negative camber, essentially causing the car to ride on a contact patch the same size as a mountain bike tire, literally 3000-4000 lbs of vehicle flying down the freeway at 75 mph with the handling and stopping power of a Barbie Huffy bicycle. If you wanna run a stretch setup for fitment, more power to you if the tires will stay on the wheels, especially if you're keeping your car under 40 mph, and at the Walmart car meet on the weekend. Do the rest of us a favor and stay off the freeways, most especially if you run a bunch of negative camber. Simple physics = logic.
I'm of the opinion that tire stretching isn't bad, if it's a little. Best of both worlds. Functionality and proper fitment. It's a balance between these two. But damn that yellow s2000 almost made me hurl 🤢🤢

I ordered 20x10 28 verde insignia to go on a Perelli 255/35 will it be stretched?
A little. 255 fits well on an 8.5 or 9. Shouldn't be anything crazy though.
Thank you brother! 🙏🏼
Thanks for the video because I never quite understood why people were doing this.
I bought a speed6 in august. Needs a clutch. It'll be ready in time for boost season 😊😊
I stretched 235 35 19 on a 10" and used as a daily for 1.5 years until they wore out.. Its safe, just need to check tyre pressures.
That’s what I’ve been saying too. Even a little bit of tire stretch makes your wheels ten times more attractive, and more unique than the other guy with the same wheels.
I’ve got a one inch stretch that puts my wheels nice and flush and a lowered car. Subtle but noticeable is the way to go. 👀
How fast do the radically stretched tires last? Those cars mush be rarely driven.
Some stretch can look pretty sick. But its a personal preference. I respect the crazy stretch builds, its insane what they can do
