Thanks for sharing, and greetings from North Michigan USA. I will be pulling and cleaning my well point this weekend.

No problem, happy to help and thank you for the feedback :) I also have a video on cleaning the well point with muriatic acid if you need some info on that.

    Great video!
Have recently inherited the house I grew up in, but the well is failing and the pump is sucking a water/air mixture. Was told the point needs replacing. Thank you for helping us on this adventure in handy-work!

What a through and brilliant video! Really which my husband and I had found this before we began pulling our well today. We had no idea how to do this only that it had to be done. Is it normal for the inside of the pipes to be thick with rust upon removal? That was a bit distressing for me to see :/ also our well depth is 24 ft. Yet only 3 ft. Of actual water was present when we opened it up. That was surprising to me especially since we live near Lake Michigan and the water is very high right now. Any thoughts you can share? Thank you so much! Blessings

Thank you, I really appreciate the kind words :) Eventually they do need to be serviced, the type of sand point in the video typically lasts only 10 years and then it'll require a replacement. There is a stainless version which can be removed and cleaned instead. It also depends what minerals are in the water which can cause any build up. It's odd that the water level didn't increase but it probably depends on your soil composition too. Our water level increased as well, but I haven't checked the level in the well. I'm in Ontario close to Lake Huron.
