Love your videos Gene. I stumbled across your how to spool a baitcaster video about 9 months ago and have watched you ever since. And I could say from experience that without some of your videos I wouldn't know what I'd be doing out on the water. Thank you
Flukemaster Just wanted to say thank you for all the tutorials. My buddies fish a lot and i decided to take it up on a more serious level within the last two months. I search for tutorials all over you tube and yours are the most informative. You lay it out so a beginner can still understand and grasp the concepts you are portraying. Thank you much!!!!
First I just wanna say awesome video Gene, I'm going into high school and just starting to really get into serious fishing, I just wanted to say your videos have really helped me in learning everything I need to know about being a successful fisherman, I look forward to watching your videos for a long time!
Thanks for all of the tips Gene! They are going to help me catch more bass with a spinnerbait. I actually caught my first spinnerbait fish yesterday. Great Vid!
Wow! I've been waiting for you to do a spinnerbait video since I started watching your videos a year or so ago! Its my absolute favorite lure. One thing I've noticed is that I never catch on a spinnerbait if my lure hits the water too hard. I fish a spinnerbait more than anything else but I have to say that I never even thought to put any sort of trailer other than a trailer hook on it. I'll certainly have to try that. Keep up the good work and thank you very much for all your help!
Thanks Gene! I am a fairly new subscriber to your channel but have already learned so much! Now if I can just talk my wife into letting me take the boat out a little more often. :)
Like I always say visit fluke master for all your fishing needs!! I find it refreshing that your videos are really about fishing tips and not a commercial for a certain product. Your no bs approach is appreciated Gene!
Thanks Michael. That is the reason I started making these videos in the first place. Something was missing from all the TH-cam fishing videos and it was that nobody was really interested in teaching the skills needed to use their product. So I took the product hype out of it and just teach the skills with very limited product promotion.
Great video as always, Gene. I've never been a fan of spinner baits until recently. I grew up fishing, but mostly from a bank. Your videos have most definitely made me a better fisherman and I enjoy learning from someone who's willing to teach the sport and not just sell the tricks.
Man Gene, this is a video I really needed. Thanks a million. Your productions are getting better and better quality. I like the gear infographic at the end. Great job, keep em' coming!
A good Spinner Bait Basics video just what I was looking for to show to people who sometimes get in patient or antsy. As a Spinner Bait builder I will give this video a THUMBS UP!
Nice Video, way to hang in there for us... LOL, once you caught that fish looks like you were done, wrapping up and heading home.. Thanks Gene. Love the videos
thanks man this is very informative i had recently bought a few spinnerbaits but just got into bass fishing and this is really the only thing i really havent fished ever
Gene! Been watching ur videos for the past few days now. Told my friend about your tip on putting a fake to make your spinner bigger. He was 2 for 2 on first casts as we got to our spots tonight. Thanks!
Nice video, Gene. Spinner baits are very quickly becoming one of my favourite baits to use. cloudy, windy days or high muddy water, it seems you just can't beat one!
this video was very helpful to me.. i am just getting to fish my first high school bas tournament in the beginning of november and this helped out a lot... thank you.. and the video on fishing the lipless cranks really helped too!
Really love the channel Fluke! I am a crankbait only guy and I master the use of basically all of them. I like to fish the high weeds and shallow waters with the Hot n Tots and love it! However, I could pull 10 bass an hour with my cranks but as soon as I put a spinner on, I am clueless on how to fish them. Thanks for the help and I will be takin advantage of your advice and your channel in the future!
Always good information. Love the flair trick of spinners. Forgot my trailer hooks this morning but managed a few on the flair skirt of the spinner. Nothing like using the jig/spinner as a pitching bait towards reeds. Good times and tight lines!
Awesome video! Spinner baits is what I have the most success on so far this year, but they've recently stopped chasing it and started going after jigs or worms. I'm gonna have to try that jig method! I never thought to do that, amazing idea!
Great channel. Watch a ton of your videos. They are going to make me a better fisherman. This one reminded me to pick up a couple spinnerbaits. You rock. Keep making videos.
Your videos are great... i been really getting into bass fishing here the past few years and have been lookin for how toos and tips are by far the best.. watch them all the time.. my only suggestion is maybe mentioning the state you fishing in and time of year.
andrew cason If you need to know what time of year most of my videos are uploaded within two weeks of filming. Just look at the upload date. If I don't mention the state then I'm in Georgia.
Great info Gene thanks . Ive just started with trailer hooks got the kvd ones at wal mart but the rubber tude is to big i got to find a better way to keep the hook from coming off any ideas. Its good to see you back on thanks for all that you do to help us .
Go to a hobby store and buy a short piece of fuel line for remote control cars. It should only cost a couple of bucks. Cut it into small pieces 1/8 inch. After you put the hook on stick the hook through the side of the piece of tube..... I can't believe I forgot to mention that in the video. I guess I need to do a companion video about spinnerbait tricks.
As always great video and thanks for the info. If I had to choose the best instructional bass fishing channel on youtube that I have found so far I'd choose this one
You sir can truly say that your channel will make you a better fishermen I have learn about half if not more of the things I know because of you.thanks you so much for your videos by the way that's an awesome shirt mind telling me what kind that is.
I'm partial to the Terminator T-1 titanium Spinnerbaits, they are pretty strong and they keep their shape even after getting smashed by some big fish. Really wish Blue Fox still made the smaller sized spinner baits, with the centered eye, but terminator baits are pretty great, and last a long time
I like your videos. What rod is that? I've seen it in a few of your videos now and it looks like the action is just what I have been on the search for. Thanks.
Thank you for your reply! I'm not even done watching this vid yet lol.I just see the action of the rod and I'm impressed. Bass season opens Memorial Day where I live and I'm trying to figure out what kind of baits I should get. I've seen chatter baits which are like a spinner but a little different. All sorts of things but I don't know what to get for early bass season what would you personally recommend? Thank you again for the reply.
I have one of the micro magic rods with a pro qualifier reel and I absolutely love it. Have you had any experience with the new duckett ghost rods? I am looking into getting another duckett pole for throwing texas rigs and am not sure which pole to get. Any advice? Thanks for all the great videos, you have taught me more than you can imagine.
I just got two Ghost rods to try out. I took them out today and they feel awesome. They fell worth a lot more than 100 dollars. Get the a 7' med hvy rod for texas rigs.
Awesome vid man, nice to see you uploading again.I've fished spinnerbaits ever since I started fishing, caught my first bass on one.this vid gave me a lot more ways to fish it.any tips on how to judge skirt length?
Hi gene, I enjoy watching your fishing videos. I need help with something. Whenever i go to the lake or ponds with friends they always know when and what to throw and me i just get stuck on what to use. Is there any advide you can give about when and where to throw a jig, top water lures(frogs and spooks and buzzbaits) , crainkbaits , chatter baits and soft plastics. I would really aprreciate the help so i don't always have to ask what color or what brand is good or what to throw. Thank you for your time
Thanks for sharing another great video. You're certainly correct, I've learned a lot just from watching your vids. Didn't realize you used an external mic with your vids until this video. Which mic do you use? I looking to improve the audio in my personal fishing vids. Thanks again and please keep sharing.
Thanks, Up until now I haven't had an external mic. But thanks to the popularity of my vids I'm finally able to afford a good one. I bought an Azden 105UPR. It was a little pricey but well worth the money. I've tried the cheep Sony one and it sounded like I was talking into a tunnel. This one is much better if I'd remember to flip all the switches and check the dang thing.
Hey Gene in your hangout that got cut short you were talking about how bass will hold very tight to cover when the water muddies up. Say it's summer and they're out deep will they pull up shallow when the water gets muddy to be on that cover? I know they generally go shallow if it's a heavy rain with lots of runoff and they go to the new water. Thanks!
Cranks have been working good but this cold front might mess that up. Look deep though. The schooling fish have been beat up pretty bad. I had an 8lber shake off yesterday on a 5XD.
Good tutorial... love your vids!!! Watch em all and learn a lot...had a nice size one on today but lost it...didn't really feel the bite then all of a sudden I was reeling her in and she threw my hook...any advice?
Pay close attention to the vibration of the lure. Sometimes when you don't feel anything it means that the fish has it and is coming at you. It just takes time on the water to understand the different types of bites and what to do when you feel or don't feel anything. Keep at it.
Hi Gene, great video! I've never fished a spinnerbait before. I've been looking around online to purchase a few - Is there a particular size (hook and/or weight) you prefer or recommend?
Great video as always! I was curious, what type camera are you using AND more importantly, what type microphone do you use? I'm looking for a good external mic for my GoPro. Thanks!

Another great video. Any tips on trick worms. Found one and a fluke ( go figure) in a hybrid bass stomach and figured I'd try them. If it helps the trick worm was bubblegum and the fluke was I think green pumpkin. Thanks
Trick worms a very versatile. They can be fished on every rig. But in this instance you can fish it just like a fluke. Do a search on my channel for fluke and you'll see the videos about it.
he gene, have you considered making a video about how to locate bass while on a boat with no fish finder? my friend and i go out on lanier in his dads boat sometimes, and we dont have a fish finder. we usually try to head to coves out of instinct, but our trips dont always seem to produce any fish... what would be some easy tips you would give someone in our situation?
Hey Gene, the spinnerbaits im using now are strike king kvd spinnerbaits that already have a trailer hook on them along with longer skirts to cover the trailer hook. The ones that don't come with a trailer hook, where I would add a trailer like a swimbait, would it be possible to add a trailer hook to it even with a swimbait on the back
In the spring time what fish would you expect around a mouth of a river opening to a lake? It is around 10 feet deep. One last thing what lure/live bait would you recommend?
That's a hard question to answer. You should be able to find bass and panfish in that area but without knowing what part of the world you live in there is no way of knowing what types of fish live in your waters.
+flukemaster hey fluke I went fishing today with the spinnerbait and on my first cast I caught a bass!(my biggest bass) Spinnerbaits are great do you know any other lures that I need to have thx!!
I've seen so many different opinions on this, but what kind of hookset would you recommend. From the video it seems you like to sweep. Any reason you don't set hook relatively harder?
Your mic wasn’t on, yes, but it was nice to hear the water hitting the boat and hear the wind. It was like I was there in the boat learning from the master. 👍
What weight spinnerbait do you prefer? I've been buying 3/8 oz but they just don't seem to stay down. Thinking of replacing them with 1/2 oz or larger spinnerbaits.

witch Keitech is that? a Swing Impact or a Swing Impact FAT ? adn what size ? ( im interested in geting them but im not shre what size. thankx. Very informative video (y)
Great video. I went out today to use my spinner bait with a trailer hook at a local lake and killed it out in the water. Caught 6 in a couple of hours until I lost my spinner bait due to the knot tie-er. Lol! More reason to get more right?
I Notices Rivers here in Florida Like the Aucilla & the Suwannee, The water is *Darkly Stained* due to Tannins from Organic soils Making the Water resembling the look of *Tea or Black Coffee* In This situation what Spinnerbait *Blade Combination & Color Skirt* would you recommend? Also the *weather and water Temps are warm, Post-spawn, early Summer*?

I loved the "but the blades!" Part haha laughed so hard!! Great video love throwing spinnerbaits

That happens. I have a few lakes where a spinnerbait only works during short periods of the year and that's it.
Great channel. Watch a ton of your videos. They are going to make me a better fisherman. This one reminded me to pick up a couple spinnerbaits. You rock. Keep making videos.
Thanks man.
Don't know much about you, but your hat says you're awesome!!!! Sick'em Dawgs!! Great video too!!
jared mcloughlin Thanks Jared. Go Dawgs
You do a great job! Thanks for all the help and great videos.
Love the vids man, I have learned a lot considering I been fishing only a month
Cool JP. I'm glad I could help
Another good video! Been waiting on the spinner bait vid for a while. Thanks for putting these out!
Thanks Kevin. I'm trying to pump out as many as I can. I'm not going to quit any time soon.

Love the vids as always. U mentioned your boat broke. Care to elaborate what happened so your fellow fishermen can possibly avoid similar mishaps?
As always great video and thanks for the info. If I had to choose the best instructional bass fishing channel on youtube that I have found so far I'd choose this one
Thank you Noah
no problem keep em coming
Gotta love that spinnerbait bite! Getting hammered!
Nice video Gene, definitely going to try to drag my spinnerbaits too see what I can catch!
Thanks
Awesome video! Thanks for the tips...I will be sure to try these out in my pond.
Thanks Chad
What do u think is the best lure to use in the summer like a hot sunny day
Gene, you're looking great brotha! Looking lean and mean! Keep up the awesome vids.
Thanks

Wish you could come to Portugal and give me some fishing lessons.

A lipless crankbait. (Go watch my video on them)
GREAT vid Gene! Did you end up getting a new boat? Looks really nice!
Nope, JJ let me borrow his until mine is fixed or replaced.

Hey I think u r really good at fishing and my favorite bait is the fluke as well and the paddle frog
Thanks
Ur welcome
that changed my mind on spinner baits, I mostly use crankbaits but this gave me some ideas
Good luck
I am impressed, so now I subscribed.
Hey Gene in your hangout that got cut short you were talking about how bass will hold very tight to cover when the water muddies up. I know they generally go shallow if it's a heavy rain with lots of runoff and they go to the new water. Thanks!
I don't think they would. There is always a population of bass that stay shallower all year long.
Great video Gene!!! 👍🏼
Great video we use green grub worms catches a lot os bass and crappie
Thanks for the vid. When it comes to fishing I wish I could be as good as you
LOL. I'm not that good. I just like to talk like I am.
Hey Fluke, I'm fishing a club day this Saturday at Clarks Hill. Any ideas on what I should be throwing? Floating worm? Speed Craws?
Cranks have been working good but this cold front might mess that up. Look deep though. The schooling fish have been beat up pretty bad. I had an 8lber shake off yesterday on a 5XD.
Flukemaster That's what I figured. Fished the farm pond this afternoon and wore 'em out on a Bronzeye frog. Wish the big water was that easy!
Keep at it.
Great video Gene-thanks as always for the info
Thanks David
Hi Gene, great video! I've never fished a spinnerbait before. I've been looking around online to purchase a few - Is there a particular size (hook and/or weight) you prefer or recommend?
Sean Avery 3/8 or 1/2 oz. Just pick up a white one and a white and chartreuse one and you should be fine.
You are doing a great thing Gene Keep it up Thanks
Thanks Matt
Great video as always! I was curious, what type camera are you using AND more importantly, what type microphone do you use? I'm looking for a good external mic for my GoPro. Thanks!
I use GoPro Hero 2 cameras and an Azden UHF Lavaliere Mic. All of my camera stands are home made.
Thanks that's awesome! Does it connect to your GoPro via remote pack or do you edit in the voice after?
The receiver connects directly to the camera and I hide the mic under my shirt to help block the wind. Now I've just got to figure out how loud to talk. I'm so used to talking into the built in mic on the camera.
Hey gene do you use braid with a fluorocarbon leader at all?
Joe Giannone Yes
Another great video. Any tips on trick worms. Found one and a fluke ( go figure) in a hybrid bass stomach and figured I'd try them. If it helps the trick worm was bubblegum and the fluke was I think green pumpkin. Thanks
Trick worms a very versatile. They can be fished on every rig. But in this instance you can fish it just like a fluke. Do a search on my channel for fluke and you'll see the videos about it.
Read a lot of good things about the Booyah Pond Magic. Any experience using it?
he gene, have you considered making a video about how to locate bass while on a boat with no fish finder? my friend and i go out on lanier in his dads boat sometimes, and we dont have a fish finder. we usually try to head to coves out of instinct, but our trips dont always seem to produce any fish... what would be some easy tips you would give someone in our situation?
I like that idea.
Thanks and Northern Minnesota.Keep up the high quality videos!!!
Hey fluke nice video!! I have a question do you have to put a swivel on your spinnerbait or does the line not get twisted?
I tie directly to this type of spinnerbait. But when I'm fishing an in-line spinner like a rooster tail I use a swivel.
+flukemaster hey fluke I went fishing today with the spinnerbait and on my first cast I caught a bass!(my biggest bass) Spinnerbaits are great do you know any other lures that I need to have thx!!
Best spinner bait: beetle spin. You can add any lure you want. Caught a nice sized bass on one.
What rods do you recommend? I know if your second spinnerbait video and recommend a MH/M and a M. Is the M rod a modererate or fast action?
I don't understand your rig. Is that swim bait with a spinner? please explain exactly what you were using
+don greene It's a swimbait trailer, just adds some extra movement at the end of the skirt
So my local park is kinda iffy at best, does a spinner bait make a good search bait on the bank to open up with?
You seem like a nice guy. Thanks for the tips.
I've seen so many different opinions on this, but what kind of hookset would you recommend. From the video it seems you like to sweep. Any reason you don't set hook relatively harder?
Because it is an open hook on a moving bait and a killer hook set isn't needed. The fish will do most of the setting for you.
Hey could you do a video on a wacky rig? ways you can use it as well as line and rod & reel preference for it?
Your mic wasn’t on, yes, but it was nice to hear the water hitting the boat and hear the wind. It was like I was there in the boat learning from the master. 👍
I know you use a gopro I've seen you using on in some other videos and I was woundering how you get so good Of quality on you gopro
Thanks
I shoot, edit and save each video in 1080p then I load it onto TH-cam.
Great video!! Thanks for the tips!!
+Nolan Abell You're welcome Nolan
What weight spinnerbait do you prefer? I've been buying 3/8 oz but they just don't seem to stay down. Thinking of replacing them with 1/2 oz or larger spinnerbaits.
I mostly use 3/8 with small blades and 1/2 with larger ones.
So then your typical mepps inline has a ... indiana blade? Cause its more of an oval? Did I hear that right? Sorry im sort of a newb. Falling in love with spinners tho. Love your vids.
Yes
witch Keitech is that? a Swing Impact or a Swing Impact FAT ? adn what size ? ( im interested in geting them but im not shre what size. thankx. Very informative video (y)
I think it was the Swing Impact
Love the videos man! How about a video on top water frogs or toads!
I think the black Bass on this St. Mary's river in s.e. Georgia are gonna love that bait... stay tuned... thanks for the info!
Cool, Thanks for watching Jerry
loved this video!!! Very informative
+Cade Smith Thanks Cade
