      Ha! So sad. Every bloke should have a shed, even if it’s just to sit in and watch idiots on TH-cam play in theirs!

    I did something similar with a fridge thermometer on my NC. When I say 'similar' I mean I just stuck the thermometer straight onto the bike in the same place as you've put yours. Amazon UK had a Black thermometer small enough to fit in the gap without me having to make a special holder for it, Which is just as well, as I don't have milling machine or lathe, so would have been buggered if I'd needed to make one.
    I'm on my second thermometer now as the first one fell off whilst riding, but it is nice to know the temperature before heading out, so worth the occasional new one. In Blighty, I'm more interested in how cold it is rather than how warm it is. Checking, in the winter, if it's above 3 degrees so there's a better chance of not finding the roads icy.

    Just perfect! This is something I've always wanted for my CTX700. I've watched all of your videos and admire your creativity and "do it yourself" approach!

    That was great man. Your workshop is brilliant, I'm envious. Crickey, you even have a milling machine. Awesome.

    Yep, a small round temp gauge on Amazon, Gorilla double sided tape cut to shape and it’s done…2 minutes.
    You can’t beat a bit of whimsical over engineering 😊

    Excellent shed time. Awesome job. I used a fish tank thermometer with the sensor prob run through inside the fairing but it was sensitive to engine temperature when parked. It was white. I used black electrical tape, lol.

    That video made me smile all the way. I do recommend testing your new thermometer in a 5 day motorbike adventure camping trip, preferably in a pretty mountainous area.

    All good stuff Adrian and the end result was great. With respect and also regard to your personal safety, using rubber gloves on fast rotating machinery, can be highly dangerous, if the glove accidentally comes into contact with drill bit. It can grab the tool, with obvious consequences.

    • @AfricaTwin-Stuff
      @AfricaTwin-Stuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Gloves - not a risk with the type of gloves I use. They rip a chunk off rather than grabbing. I’ve tested this many times 😀
      And ... gloves protect my hands from swarf and from hot cutting oil.

    Hello man. Good stuff. My name is hamza im from Morocco and im Nc owner. I got a problem with my rear wheel where the bearing have been explosed inside the wheal. Then damaged all bearing place and collar spacer too. I don't find here in the market a new wheal so have to repair it myself. Adding a weilding alluminum into the wheal from the two side and rebuild the bearing place from the two side and new spacer also. My problem is i don't find the full guide with dimension of the bearing place in the wheal and also for the spacer collar between the two bearing. Do you have the capacity to provide me these informations from yourrear wheal bike please ? Thank you

    I have looked at the cheap temp gauges from Ali Express but have not pulled the plug. I was thinking of a wired sensor and had not considered something battery powered. Maybe you can give an update at some point for how well the temp gauge works. No doubt your apparatus will last much longer than the gauge itself!

    • @AfricaTwin-Stuff
      @AfricaTwin-Stuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wendy has the same temp gauge on her bike and it’s now a couple of years old and still going strong. Wendy has changed the batteries once in that time.

      P.S. Syd??? I think he means Me, Wendy. I have actually changed the battery twice but they do last pretty well and I have mine in a similar position and it is quite easy to read in the bright daylight.

    Great job! I put one in thame place four years ago. But with velcro. It is not so precise(+ 2-3°), because it is come warm air from radiator, but it is ok.

    • @AfricaTwin-Stuff
      @AfricaTwin-Stuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes agree. Precision is a relative thing.

  • @paulplex

    I love the fangles you do on your bike - but do you think a bottom support might not be needed? Although it's clamped in left and right, is there a risk that it'll vibrate loose and fall out the bottom over a longer ride?

    • @AfricaTwin-Stuff
      @AfricaTwin-Stuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fall out? I don’t think there is a risk. It weighs almost nothing so the pressure on each side should be fine.
      But in the even I do loose it, it’s no great loss as it only cost a few $ 😁

    Nice job. I am wondering will it work on direct sunlight ? Sometimes these crystal displays can "stuck" when sun shines and it became hot.

    • @AfricaTwin-Stuff
      @AfricaTwin-Stuff  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agree. If exposed to hot direct sun they tend to go black. But recover when cool.
      As it’s under the instrument panel it’s pretty protected.

    I used a small aquarium thermometer with a remote sensor. It's attached with hook and loop on the flat spot just to the right of your mount's location. Afterwatching this, I'm ashamed by its simplicity 😔 😉

    Way beyond my skill level. Guess I'll continue to use the Weather app on my iPhone or maybe I'll find a tpms monitor that includes temperature (most have the time it seems). I'd rather have the monitor mounted on the bike vs using an iPhone app. Just easier to see. Same would be true for the temperature gauge.

    😅🤣😂Серьёзно, имея возможность создать винтовой крепёж ты приклеил кусок металла к металлу на клейкую ленту 🤣 жесть какая. Прибор тоже полная ерунда, он даже не показывает температуру двигателя, а значит бесполезен 👎Мог сразу на клейкую ленту посадить, но зачем то желязяку выточил😂. В Июне покажу установку датчика температуры, правильную!🤜🤛

    • @AfricaTwin-Stuff

      If you watched the video you would have heard why it’s stuck on with tape. And ambient temp is all I wanted. No need to see engine coolant temp when it never overheats.
      It must be a burden for you to be so much better than me at this.
      Look forward to your proper job. 😁
