  • It was a dark and rainy night...Here are highlights from a night IFR flight from Boeing Field (KBFI) to Chehalis, WA (KCLS). A warm front had just passed through the area, raising the freezing level but bringing strong winds, bumps, and clouds and rain. The approach into KCLS, which provides LPV minimums, shows how flying into small-town, non-towered airports differs from operating at towered fields. Note the runway environment--no approach lights, just a PAPI and edge lights.
