    The "head light fluid container" is not really for the head lights. It is supposed to contain extra strong washing fluid and will be put on your windscreen when pressing the button on the right below your dashboard. There are two such hard to find buttons below your dashboard. The left button resets your odometer, the right button puts this extra strong washing fluid on your windscreen. Next to these hard to find buttons there are hard to find dials. The left dial adjusts the instrument lightning, the right dial adjust the timing interval of the wiper.

    Hi Jay, really entertaining and informative to watch. You’ll find pouring from a 5ltr can easier if you have the spout at the top of the can, instead of the bottom. This allows air into the can at the same rate as the fluid comes out, preventing their glug glug f**k of oil going everywhere. Have a good Christmas 👍

    When I purchased my 993, I made the decision to drive my baby home instead of paying some transporter to damage my new investment. When I purchased a 560SEL that I used to have years ago, the transporters dropped locks and chains on my car then altered the paperwork as if the damage was there already. I knew from detailed photos and the way the guy unloaded my car, that he was the one who damaged my car. It was a lesson learned.

Re: the dipstick, I was told that some of the oil could remain in the fill tube, like a vacuum. By doing it twice, you assure no false reading. I didn’t read all the responses but to answer your question about the dipstick, if you drive around, even after parking, the oil can splash and wick further up the dipstick, giving you an inaccurate reading of the oil level. Wiping it when the car is stationary and dipping again will give you an accurate reading.

    A good idea is using distilled water rather than tap for the coolant to avoid mineral buildup. A protective barrier such as a towel placed on the bodywork would help in preventing scratches. A good idea prior to opening filling ports is to clean around them to prevent dirt from entering. I use brake cleaner with good results. After changing the oil and filter, I start the engine a let it run for about a minute, turn off the engine and check the oil level 15 minutes later when it has settled down. I found PB Blaster to be a very effective penetrating fluid but it does have a strong odor. Congratulations on your first attempts! 👍

    That was distilled water right? Oil filter, it's 3/4 turn by hand after the gasket touches. That oil also has the clear flush fluid in it so less black lol. Gotta run the engine about 30 sec, then let the oil settle to chk the level. Double chk when cold the next day like you did. Def know the oil quantity spec. The diff needed a longer wrench and prob a tap or two on the bolt and then wrench. Really important to change.

    On oil changes - NOTE: ALL MY OPINION... 1. I really didn't like the 'old' oil's color. If it were my car, I'd run it with your new oil & change again sometime between 500-1k miles, including new filter. 2. Did you allow estimate on oil capacity to include the filter? It's quite possible the oil was low as the filter filled up... 3. Funnels are your friends when doing oil changes... 4. tie a string around a finger to remember a new crush washer. In sum, have fun, & treat the car well.

    Your last check for transmission fluid level once hot should be done with engine running and transmission in neutral, this is where you should see level between min and max lines. I believe you did it with engine stopped, you might then be way too low on fluid and may (will) encounter transmission problems.

    Dude, those fenders are aluminun. You should try not to slap things down on them. You need a cheater bar for the diff plugs or possibly a tap with a hammer. If you shift through the gears after the initial trans reservior fill the 15 minute drive and top up wouldn't be needed. Clean your alternator wiring! Tighten up your pan bolts to stop pan leaks without major pan removal service. Replace your steering reservior to pump hose. Steering boots need replacement as well.

    • @JAYREAD
      @JAYREAD ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t slap anthing down on them. No space for a cheater bar. A top up wasn’t needed. Pan is getting a new gasket and being done properly. I’m getting a new steering rack, reservoir and hoses and boots. All in the plan, dude!
