The real masters from Japan !! Many thanks for this video.
BRILLIANT safety for the printing surface !!!!!
I love how the Japanese places so much value in the smallest things. All this beautiful craftsmanship to make a stamp, brilliant.
Is a name a small thing? That's up for them to decide I guess
@@shimmy_fpv lol what?
@@frikkied2638 These are not just stamps. They are seals. Official seals. Like your name. Corporations and persons sign contracts with these. This "Stamp" is you.
@frikkied2638 these stamps are the equivalent to western signatures, and are used to "sign" the most important documents, like marriage certificates. The stamp itself is unique to the individual and acts as a representation of oneself. So while the item is small, it carries importance... like a wedding ring.
@@xjunkxyrdxdog89 interesting, thanks. But I think you misinterpreted my comment. I didn’t say stamps are small or unimportant, I meant there are easier, cheaper ways to produce these stamps but I love how they are still essentially hand made (apart from the wire EDM)
This was so pleasing to watch.
Videos like this give me inner peace, because everything is done to perfection.
Thank you!
WOW those tight tolerances are amazing ! such a close fit !
I love how they use incredibly precise hightech tools, but everything still feels traditional
It's such beautiful artwork and craftsmanship. It really makes me want to have one made though I have no need for one. And, it's such a joy to see such care being taken in crafting these functional working seals.

I don't want to ruin this art piece with ink

I’m astonished, super great job 💪
Dude, what a freaking process. The craftsmanship is stunning. Thanks for a look
omg!!! this is more likely to be a art piece then a product!!!! so amazing to see a traditional seal stamp build with industrial method!!!!
I very much enjoyed watching your process of making a precision engineered masterpiece of the seem less Stamp.
Thank You 🤩
Such attention to detail, precision at it's finest, not only is this an amazing collaboration, but it is a beautiful piece of art down to the packaging.
What is so impressive, is that they use very modern tools but they do it as in craftsman model, as they manually use the machines and do not let they doing all the job.
That was the most beautiful thing I’ve watched on TH-cam for a long time, the workmanship is incredible. Wow.
Beautiful Art and Engineering !! .. Cheers from USA
That's Japanese Craftsmanship ..... So Precise & Accurate ! 👍👍👏👏
EDM and surface grinding at its finest! Using a magnifier on the mill to see the imperfections disappear is thinking outside of the typical uses of each. Bravo on making a fine product!
Optical camparatator I beleive. I've seen them at machinery auctions.
@@TheJagjr4450 Yes, that's what it is. I was drawing a blank when I commented. I've seen them as a stand alone tool, but never as part of the actual manufacturing process.
@@ericmattinen4728 I drew a blank on it as well, THEN it appeared in my head! lol more often than not IT IS LOST IN MY HEAD FOREVER! Believe it or not those things are inexpensive at auction... under $500 I have seen. If I had a "decent" reason to buy one I probably would as I am a machinery and tool junkie.
It's the way something is made and the craftsmanship that is put into it that makes the piece a work of art.

My favourite videos are the hydraulic crushing blade and the taiko drums but this precision engineering is definitely joining my list of favourites.
This isn't just amazing engineering, it is a beautiful piece of art !
Its reallt not much in the engineering department honestly. You just need a wire edm. At the low price of $500,000. Trying to get my shop to pick one up.
These things just look wild to the ignorant. I do thank you for appreciating the trades. Just giving you a bit of honest insight. This is a very easy design compared to whats created all the time. Its the tooling that makes it difficult to create.
@Under-Kaoz
I'm aware that some designs are more complex in comparison, It's not "ignorance" making me appreciate it, It's the awe of the power it can produce as a hydraulic tool.
@@Under-Kaoz We all understand wire EDM. It's the artistry of the company processing this from start to end that makes the video beautiful. Insider snobbery is tempting; I have to bite my tongue watching amateur programmers do their stuff on YT so I totally understand the urge to call 'outsiders' ignorant, but it's not a good look my friend.
Calm down guys, no need to go into yt arguing attack mode. Its possible to have conversation where you just add to it, which was my attempt, than to detract from it. Good day. 😉

Nice well recorded video. I really like how all the geometry of the profile has been connected right up to the edge and the stamp profile still looks like it's hanging in the air. Apart from that, it's normal toolmaking where pretty stamps are made rather than punching tools.

When you get it, might as well make video about it! I'm rather intriqued why it keeps working even when ink gets sucked between the two peaces and eventually builds up making it stuck. Though you can probably free it by using spirits to soften the ink again and flush it out.

Beautiful product. Beautiful packaging and presentation. Curious as to how it functions after a while of ink being dried on to those extremely close tolerances.
I think it is expected that you need to clean it immediately. However a little bit of acetone would fix it right up.
Obviously, that *is* the reason for building those extremely close tolerances - so that the ink does not penetrate inside and not dry on the edges of the outline.
To clean the ink, there's another 10 day process that uses 15 different machines and around 3,000 terawatts of power. But yeah, so worth it you guys.

Fantastic video and impossible level of work & product
Mechanical perfection. Bravo.
Yep. The problem is that a hanko stamp is supposed to not be replicable because of it's unique pattern with it's imperfections. This one is not guaranteed to be unique, becaus4e CNC and because too perfect.
To make it unique, I would add some surface imperfections like a coarse texturing by media blasting.

They should be $10k or more because this is a work of art. Beautiful video, thank you.
Why not 100k?
It's amazing just how precise wire EDM parts like that can get.
It's cut from 2 separate pieces of metal, there are algorithms available that you can use to cut a part such that it fits seamlessly into another part, this isn't anything new and it's not some "mastery" that this Japanese guy learned through years of practice. He uses the grinding wheel to polish the 2 dissimilar parts so that they look like a single piece was cut from the other perfectly.
@@Digitalstorm007 Easy, dude. No one's saying EDM is some kind of "ancient Japanese secret". It's CNC, modern and simple.
he glued the screw in with 2 part epoxy and it ruined it for me.
Its also completely unmecessary. A normal seal works better and is harder to fake.
Well, also you could 3D print this in about 30 minutes, some polishing, done. Still, craftsmen doing manual work is cool.

Damn, all that work and engineering just for a stamp is amazing
Very useful inventions 👍👍👍
I think it's overpriced toy
Nothing traditional and totally useless
It’s used on official documents and carries legal power on that stamp….unlike western culture with wet signature, this is used on most asian country. It’s definitely not a toy.
@@dododede875 except - if you have good image of the seal on paper - you can easily forge it. all you need is a decent cnc mill or even laser engraver, probably and some blank.
For signatures - pen stroke direction and other things affect it - so it is stronger from forensics point.
What particullary is useful here? Overengineering, that's all.
I am an Australian dental surgeon who can no longer Operate due to an injury and I feel adrift like I have no purpose now.
I love making precision things and I am certain if I could find a place in Japan to fit in with a business that creates such precision and personalised items I would feel like I had come home. It just seems part of their culture and I don't know of other countries that still seem to have many traditional family owned and generationally filled businesses creating things.
I enjoy watching wire Electronic Discharge Machining (wire EDM). It's something I can get from a Tool & Die Machine shop down the road from me.

Been a while since I've seen a BMP file in any context. Great results.
The next dude did have to come in and chop some pixels to get a practical vector though.
@@DirtyRobotYeah, that part of the workflow was strange to watch. Do all this lovely sketch and marker work, just to decimate the design into a very low-res bitmap, before resurrecting it into a vector. Seems like they could save hours(?) of time and more faithfully transfer the artwork by just scanning directly to vector, and filtering any super noisy edges the wire-EDM process can't recreate.
@@asm_nop Heck, just work directly in vector. Illustrator and a Wacom tablet would eliminate a lot of time as far as I can tell. Illustrator has a pressure sensitive brush if you want a variable line width, or you can disable the pressure feature and set the brush width to whatever you need so it's consistent throughout the design.
@@asm_nop boomers have no idea what theyre doing here. they could hire a millennial/zoomer with some basic knowledge of vectors/imagemagick and reduce the workflow by half. but they wouldnt want to give us a lunch for our stomachs that would be illegal
I think that step is deliberate. You want a design that is readable in its final size. Reducing it to a pixel version in one step will take care of that. Otherwise, it is very easy to be lost in small details that look huge on screen but are invisible in the final stamp. The fixed-size pixels force you to work at a useful resolution.
I've run into that trap multiple times when designing in vectors for laser cutting or 3D printing. You lose all sense of scale, and the final result is just a tiny blob without definition.
At least I know what I'm paying for, great work and attention to detail
The level of detail and craftsmanship is amazing! Much love from Canada 💕🍻 I would love to know the music behind this, Its a lovely track to read and work with 🎶
