      AJ thank you so much ! Unbelievably how Murphy’s law works. We arrived at the port and it was very windy and hard to maneuver. 30 minutes later there was no wind. Go figure right ? Un gran saludo! Ed.

    can you film a tack with the Code 0. That's a lot of sail to get around the forward stay.

      Hello Simon ! Sure can. Will bring it on upcoming videos. All the best.

    Hi! Very useful videos, very informative! Congratulations! I have a question: why in the winter time isn't used as a port the Madeira. Canaries, Tenerife or other island much more to the south? Why everybody prefer to stay in one of Europe's ports? Thank you in advance, I'm really -really curious about this thing!

    • @SailingJoy
      @SailingJoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Ambrotos. In our case it is because we want to stay close to where we will start our journey this season. Any of the ports you mention is very far away and it would take a while to go there and come back since it is on the other side of where we are going. Another reason is that it is much easier in terms of logistics if you need to leave the boat and catch a plane else where during the winter time. Also Keep in mind when you cross the Atlantic You will have the chance to explore those islands. I hope I answered your question (from our perspective). Best Ed

    What sail material is that? If the gray leech and foot stripes are UV protection. You want the luff really tight on these. Tighter than you think. We use a 2:1 halyard, and crank it super tight like a forestay.

    Congratulations and enjoy your code zero - looks like you needed this sail to close a gap in your config. What is the sq/m size of your code zero?

    • @SailingJoy
      @SailingJoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      HI Johan ! This Code Zero is 110 meters and we were really impressed with the performance of it. Can’t wait to use it more.

    Please tell me if you know, but if you have a good parasailor, would you choose a Code 0 or a Code D to complete your sailplan?

    • @SailingJoy
      @SailingJoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Bill I hope all is well. Code D is the ideal asymmetric cruise sail in downwind as It's polar is wide: Code D can in fact push the boat in winds ranging from 60° to 140°. It has the widest possible range of use among any asymmetric sails. As we already had a sail that covered that angle very well we chose a sail that we could use at tigger angles. Best Ed

    Have just purchased a Lagoon 46 and am equipping with a parasailor - now need the Code0 / screeched type sail - you mentioned you also fly a Genoe ?

    • @SailingJoy

      We have a geneker and code zero and for the Med is working great.

    6:40 and 8:10 Only way AWA=TWA and AWS=TWS is if your boat speed=0 which is what is showing, which means you have 4.8-5.1kt current but then how could AWA=TWA?
    I think your B&G needs a major calibration!

    • @SailingJoy
      @SailingJoy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Very nice catch!!! The reason for that is because as we left the Marina the sensor from the speedometer was stuck because of some growing on it. As it started to word everything else fell in place and we were getting accurate readings again. Check out 9:16 Best Ed

      Aware of it but we are not a performance catamaran, just trying to make the most out of a light wind day.
