Tip for the Phantom Express: With the conductor/skeleton, the little pumpkin drops a parryable item. Just letting it fall helped me a lot because it always went where the head was.
For anybody wondering, the wr is 23:16 and, I don’t know if they patched this, but the top runners can shoot both the strongest guns at the same time with a glitch.
They patched this, but there are seperate categories for speedrunning and most runners do the "legacy patch," aka the first iteration of the game where the trick wasn't patched, so they still utilize it in that category.
As an old gamer (started with C64 in 1983) I was kinda surprised that everyone called this game super hard. The games have gotten easier through the years and I actually liked that this reminded me of the good old days. I only have platinum trophies for about 10 games and this is one of them. Though I must admit when I finished the game and found out I have to play it through in yet another difficulty level I had to take a deep breath.
A couple years back I got really into Cuphead and speedrun the game. I ended up beating the base game in roughly 29 minutes. I tried to recreate it this year but failed miserably. Barely made it halfway when the 30 minutes timer ran out.
thank you for giving a way for a casual like me to enjoy all these glorious character designs and animation without watching a five hour video or fighting the potato over and over for the rest of my life

Sadly, most of the tech that makes Celeste speedrunning look so cool would be very very difficult to do for someone with just one or two full playthroughs. Source: I have like 130 hours in the game and am only down to a 52-minute any% Maybe he could just pick a chapter and have fun with it. My favs are 1A, 3A, 5A, 6A, 7A
@@Lookout1000 i found the movement tech to be quite easy lol. sure the advanced tricks can be very hard but that's just for top level speedruns. celeste sure has an incredibly high skill ceiling, but i find the skill floor to be rather low, so you can just plan your route to fit your skill level. i cant see why he wouldn't get a decent time with just a full playthrough and some practice

I like how nobody actually uses the fact that the second king dice slaps his hands to summon the dice the die is already there so you're able to Parry his hands to get a automatic one

I was like damn this game's hard but I grew up on PS1 and PS2 sidescrollers which were insane. So I was getting through unimpressed until....the Green Dragon. Took me forever to get Knockout and when I finally did I literally shouted "TAKE THAT BITCH!"
here's a small tip for the onion in the first battle: if you just stand off to the side and don't attack him, he will come up for a few seconds, look around, and go back down. keep in mind though, if you do this, then another enemy will appear during the carrot phase, and will go back and forth at the bottom of the screen, and you obviously take damage if you hit him. this could make the last phase more difficult.
@DarkCoreX Depends on if you're good at it. But even still it ends up being practically identical times. Roughly 0:39 either way. But shooting the onion is definitely easier.
@ALEXANDRU GABRIEL TUCHILUȘ It depends, if you get a lot of parries and play good, it can save time. But the nomal phase is more consistent. (keep in mind that if you go for the secret phase the final phase will have more hp)

As someone with a crippling fear of failiure that plays FILTHY casual games, I liked Cuphead a lot!! It was very good at incentivizing me to keep trying while slowly making me good at the game. Eventually I want to practice speedrunning this myself like a second TheMexicanRunner lol 🤭
Yeah was about to comment the same but figured I would check first if it has been mentioned… Also it is the only way to complete the run and gun pacifist challenge since you can’t jump over or through the acorn maker. It’s not doable even with the equipped so the only way without killing em is by going underneath…
@@IRrebel3 I did the pacifist run and gun without it somehow. I got my super (invincibility), got one of the mushrooms to shoot a pink cloud as I dropped down to the acorn maker, parried and used my super in the air, jumping over the machine.

This is small but for the very first battle with the vegetables, when you reach the onion if you don't hit it then it's battle won't initiate. However, there's another obstacle added at the carrot stage. Might be worth it

@@IRrebel3 I did the pacifist run and gun without it somehow. I got my super (invincibility), got one of the mushrooms to shoot a pink cloud as I dropped down to the acorn maker, parried and used my super in the air, jumping over the machine.
@@dianafox2175 Huh... Did not know it was possible... But there is still an invisible wall behind the maker so only way past is still either under or apparently over it.

Dang, you made so many of the boss fights look easy. I spent almost 3 hours just trying to beat Dr. Kahl (definitely my least favorite fight so far)

A way to go slightly faster and save like 30 seconds is to not shoot the onion, he will become happy and skip straight to the carrot. Hope this helps!
Big Props on doing this, when this game first came out it took me weeks of trial and mostly error to beat.
Imagine being a bee, who had a really rough day, and is excited to get home to your wife and kids, but suddenly some random dude with a cup as his head shoots you with a lobber and blows you up, before stealing your queens soul.
This is small but for the very first battle with the vegetables, when you reach the onion if you don't hit it then it's battle won't initiate. However, there's another obstacle added at the carrot stage. Might be worth it
It’s not worth in this category, all bosses, nor in the any%, as it’s slower than just killing him. If you’re doing no damage or all S+P it’s very worth
