This line between Edinburgh Waverley and Kirkcaldy is very similar to like JustTrains' Scottish East Coast Main Line route, but this is the only route that does not go towards Aberdeen and Dundee. If I had all three routes (Thomson's Edinburgh To Glasgow, JustTrains' Scottish ECML: Edinburgh To Dundee, and the DTG's Edinburgh Waverley To Dunfermline Via Kirkcaldy), then I shall clone it to make 2 extensions for Dundee extension and Glasgow Queen Street electric extension. It's very annoying that Edinburgh castle building was not appearance on Thomson's Edinburgh To Glasgow route and the Fife Circle route. For my own workshop scenarios, I shall add some HSTs for the Aberdeen bound and the Class 380s where it runs from Edinburgh Waverley to Glasgow Central and Queen Street (Our Current Year Is 2020, so the line between Edinburgh Waverley and Glasgow Queen Street is fully electrified). Be warned. The Class 68 in ScotRail is not a standalone pack, and so as Class 170 and the BR A4 pacific. I only have Edinburgh to Glasgow route and the JustTrains' Newcastle To Edinburgh route. But if I got the Fife Circle route and the JT's Scottish ECML, I shall clone the Fife Circle route for fixing issues, adding missing buildings like Edinburgh Castle and the missing stadium, and make two extensions where it goes to Dundee and Glasgow Queen Street.
Loved it! The AP Mk2 really suits this route from what i’ve seen! (I don’t know much about other’s DLC as I only have custom made routes and trains)

This my local line and I really like the route. The attention to detail at some of the stations is very good (although some things fazing through fences isn't too good). I am very picky about this though, especially with the track on the bridge having ballast on the texture and when the JT route got it right. I am annoyed at some of the speed limits being completely off, for example it's 60 on the approach to Dalmeny, not 80, the speed limit through Inverkeithing is 30, not 40 and the tight corner between Lochgelly and Cardenden is 40, not 20 and there are still some more. Anyway, great video. I'm glad you've taken the time to review the route.
Thanks for the kind words Jamie. It is a shame that the attention to detail hasn't been carried throughout,it could've been a superb route. I did check the Forth Bridge after and it should be a totally different trackbed. You'd think the'yd go all out to get a world landmark bang on!
Jamie Plays A Gamie It's my local route too and I did notice the issues you mentioned. I have a feeling that the speed limit between Cowdenbeath and Lochgelly is too low - it's like they've used the limit from the '80s when there was a subsidence issue.
I do think it's still a decent route. It is better than the JT SECML in my opinion.

JintySteam yeah AP themselves have updated the track enhancement patch and supposedly it actually applies super elevation to the route,I don’t use the track EP to test it though sadly. Would certainly make a difference though.
A very fair review and caught most of the things that slightly annoy me about this route. Currently editing my copy of the route and adding a lot of assets from freeware and the JT common library to put more detail on mine.

I was thinking of getting this one, but due to the stuff you pointed out along with the fact that I already own the stock (Class 68 is 11.99 at the moment) I'll probably pass unless it comes up in a sale. That fact that you get no discount whatsoever if you have the included stock already bugs me quite a bit.
I am definitely saving up for this! Given the 68 alone is £12, that makes the 158, 170 and the route £12! Too good a deal to miss. And then, on top of that, you get a BR A4!
Yes if you need the stock it's definitely a good deal
To be fair all those churches do look about right. As somebody who lives in Glenrothes and travelled this route dozens of times, it is pretty recognisable at all stages, even if there is a few glaring omissions in landmarks.
Yeah I agree it is recognisable for sure,just my personal taste not liking the exact repetition really. Would've been nice to see even a basic model added so you don't constantly see the same one popping up.
i work this area theres usually a few ships in the water , at the moment/ last year theres been 4 big oil rigs stationed out on the fourth , kirckaldy the bridges seem to lack the wow factor aberdour burntisland looks a bit bare tbh , and the rath rovers stadium is icon of kirkcaldy

It's good that it's a decent route because we are getting it with TS2021
This might sound mad to some but Scotrail quite often have carriages that are longer than the platforms at many stations on a number of routes. They just stop the doors from opening on said carriages
Was going to buy this until I saw your review. Edinburgh looks absolutely shocking! Glad I havn't bought it now!
I had this issue that when I tried to depart from Edinburgh Waverley, I’d go into emergency at 5mph.
I think I’m gonna purchase this and then attempt to patch up some of the issues you’ve pointed out here. If I were to do it, would you recommend me cloning the route with rw tools and making changes or editing the original version or the route so if I release it, it replaces the old route?
That'd be great. Make a clone,that way you're changes don't get overwritten by DTG or vice versa!

Train Sim TV I agree with you on points though, this is my local route and it’s nice to see, I travel it daily on these 68s, and the lack of buildings in Edinburgh etc, it looses appeal! The rest of the route seems cracking though!
@@JBFlytography Yeah it's a nice enough route,though does lack behind some older routes by DTG that with the extra love would've made it somewhat better. There's no doubting they've captured the essence.
Noticed that haymarket depot has no stock parked up, as haymarket depot would never be empty
Just watched this excellent video and I wonder if you can explain how you appear to stop the train (trains clock freezes as well) to do your 'flyarounds'

The stops I just press Pause/Break on the keyboard only restriction really is once you’ve pressed it you can’t change the camera view until you resume the game.
@@TrainSim_TV Thanks for the really quick response. Actually when I used this I found - if you quickly press the '8' key before the Pause/Break you seem to be able to fly around easily via mouse and arrows

Aj's Gaming thanks AJ,as for Trams,I guess it’s one of those things,I think on a fairly long section like this then it should really have some sort of AI tram,but as a developer I know how that would be way down the priorities list with the commercial pressures. It’s a shame that there isn’t one that’s for sure.

Line looks nice. What about train operation? most of DTG locomotives have disappointed driving controls (too much simplified)
Nowhere near as good as those with mods by Armstrong Powerhouse that's for sure.

Yup,I didn't spot at the time but there's a full set of them floating,and they're part of the station asset too,so can't even be moved manually lol

I agree the castle and monument are major omissions and just says laziness on the developers part. Or is it lack of ability to create those models? I also noticed that the speed on the Glasgow lines just before Haymarket tunnels is still wrong. It should be 50. The E&G route has the same mistake. The stations from South Gyle onwards are very well represented, so it's not all bad. They also missed the kink in Kinghorn tunnel. It's not a smooth curve. Edinburgh airport is a bit sparse of infrastructure. Some effort there would have been nice. The bridge is decent, but colour is not dark enough and the decking is wrong. Totally agree that the view from the bridge towards Edinburgh is brutal. There's plenty of buildings that should have been placed there. I will probably buy this route as it's my local, and it's way better than that Just Trains effort
Agree on all points,I doubt it's lack of ability though,more someone either knocking them off an initial list or just for whatever reason deciding they aren't important enough,which in the scheme of things is ridiculous with national (international?) landmarks like the castle and monument!

Doesn't look good. In many places too noticeable lack of detail. I just bought Southampton to Bournemouth and that's something I even didn't expect. Pretty nice job by DTG. The Fife Circle was long awaited route and sad they released it in unfinished state.
It varies,some areas are pretty nice others are bereft of detail,even lineside fences. It's easy to tell in some places that it wasn't a uniform build style. The amount of Kuju assets that aren't up to the standard of many of DTG's own assets is also pretty poor considering DTG already have better stuff they've previously made!

The route does indeed look good through the use of new assets etc... but I have to entirely agree with you that DTG have a big problem in the almost non-existent QA department.
Leo Martin cheers for the comment Leo. There seems to be a lack of proper testing,the signal through the fence and signs floating throughout Haymarket are silly mistakes. Can only hope this is a wake up call for them to improve....

A fair commentary "could have been better" sums it up. Worth £25? No, but it could be if it had greater attention to detail and more expansive asset library. I pondered on a refund last night, decided I would keep it but DTG is this a money generator or it a service to the community?

DTG has became a money generator sadly. So I was actually very surprised when this came out when you think of all that comes with this DLC.

@@oliverthegreatwesternengin8029 Because all business work around money and DTG does make plenty of good quality content. They do care and the prices an't bad. Hobbes are not cheap and model railways are more expensive. There a good amount of regular sales.
