Most Secret 1-Ups in Every Mario Game

- Hey guys welcome to a really fun video where I go over the most secret 1-up locations from across the Super Mario Bros franchise, going through how to get them and how many you get as your prize. If you like my content then please like, comment and subscribe!

5:03 When I played Mario World for the first time, I saw that end goal. It looked to me that you could possibly go under it using a power up. So I tried to go under it using a yoshi and a cape. IT ACTUALLY WORKED!!! I thought that that was where the only 3-up moon in the game was because I couldn't find another anywhere else.
I love how Nintendo creatively hides their shrooms, like with the one that was meant to only be collectible with multi-player. 💚🍄
The bad part is that really there is no point to them unless Nintendo decided that the top of the flag didn't give a 1-UP and coins were less common or directly rare, then the 1-Up mushroom would have his purpose back
@@jesusmijares8614 Yeah, I guess, heh. At least you need a whopping one hundred coins for a single life though. And yeah, well sometimes you might need a powerup to get the top of the flag and it still takes a bit of skill, so you would get a life for keeping that rarish powerup (not taking damage) and being good at using it, because of course, you can also sometimes accidentally go over, or sometimes you might not have a powerup but it will let you still hit the top of the flag if you get enough momentum and jump at the right time with some skill, but yeah, I would agree.
And sometimes you might end up losing a couple of lives while trying to find and collect a 1UP mushroom, so I think that it would be good if Nintendo instead of just hiding 1UP Mushrooms, would replace some with these collectible that don't just give lives, and instead, well they could give alot of score but mainly it could be this hidden collectible that you can find, and it gives you a permanent inhancement or something, -kind of- alot like the Chaos Emeralds from Sonic the Hedgehog.
Smb1 has more hidden 1ups that only show up if you get all the coins certain stages. And smw has 1ups that show up when you hit invisible triggers in the right order, just like the one in sm64
10:55 You know, in Super Mario Galaxy, I remember finding a 1-up in the Comet Observatory - and then going into one of the domes, going back out - which resets the 1-up, and repetitively going to get more - to get infinite lives.
It was an easy 1-up to get - you just had to jump on top of the small building with the platform gliding back and forth; but it just took a long time to get back and forth between a dome and back to where the 1-up is!

Also, there is a 1-Up in Mario Galaxy I pretty much never get: One under the walls of the library. You have to step onto the rotating platform and ride it to get it.
It's cool to see that one of the clouds in Tree Zone Stage 1 is shaped like a hand with an index finger pointing up as if it's hinting at the hidden heart.
Right? I remember my brother pointing out the clouds to me 20 years ago, wonder how he caught those secrets
16:54 Yeah, but once you get to that section, most people would be curious to explorer that part with that block, since most people know about the 1-up in World 1-1 of Super Mario Bros., which that level was based on.
You know the first time I got infinite 1-ups why is in super Mario 3D Land it was the first time I did it and it was awesome
I remember when I was a kid, one of my friends pointed out that I should go under one of the palm tree platforms in Super Mario Bros. He told me that there were a bunch of hidden bonuses down there! 😉
16:41 that level is a reference to world 1-1 in Super mario bros for the nes, literally everyone knows where that 1 up is and if you dont know then youre literally new to mario games as a whole

To me the secret 1up in SMB1 was rather obvious. Exactly because those blocks were out of reach the player becomes curious and begins to look for hidden blocks and quickly finds one and very easily finds the other one which contains the 1up mushroom. IIRC Kosmic has a video where he reveals the most well hidden 1up and I certainly agree with it
Those one-ups in the slipsand galaxy are not as hard to find as people think. I remember finding them as a kid and certainly did not use any guide or video back then. I think someone put out a video that over exaggerated just how difficult they are to find and everyone believed them. It’s human instinct to be curious and wonder what is at the other end of the slide and evidently, with enough determination, those really aren’t that hard to find. They’re still fairly well hidden, and probably the most secretive one-ups in Mario galaxy 2 (there are also hidden one ups placed on the toy castle in the upside dizzy galaxy that I think are also very well hidden), but most certainly not a developer mistake. And as I said, I did find them back when I was younger and was shocked to see no one knew about them!
Also, I never knew about that hidden 8-bit one up at the end of that level in Mario 3-D Land. Definitely a cool secret that I’ve missed!
There's a toy castle in Upside Dizzy Galaxy? Or are you talking about Rightside Down Galaxy ?

14:40 I guess that’s the designers’ way of adding reward to the risk of exploring in those areas! (Although, I guess you could accidentally knock yourself into them and therefore end up getting damaged or dying).

14:57 fun fact, if you collect those 4 coins sitting between the walls, bricks start constructing, leading you up to a power-up box in the sky. This box gives you the super acorn. After you hit it, Get above that box, spin jump, then glide left to where the one up is.
Plus I have noticed Nintendo did this with one ups or blue point stars in some of the Kirby games that I think are really well hidden.
Peach rockin' those shorts in the thumbnail. Nice! Also, 1UP shrooms are life insurance, but getting 100 coins is nothing to sneeze at, either.
Super Mario Galaxy has WAY harder 1-UPs than the ones in the observatory. What about the one on top of the tall tree in Gold Leaf Galaxy? What about the secret pipe on gateway Galaxy that everyone misses because the level can only be played once?
That second Tree Zone 1 1-up in SML2 is not apparent until you notice the cloud formation shaped like a finger pointing upwards to clue you towards it.
Interesting, there were 3 one ups in a castle in world 5 of Super Mario Bros 3 that are just outside the castle.
Theres one in rico harbour where you have to talk to all 3 piantas in floaties by waiting for them to aproach the edge. This can take multiple muinuts and i only know about it because of particular mushrooms rico harbour video.
The hidden 1-up you mentioned in Super Mario Bros U can also be obtained by the propeller mushroom which can be obtained by the Special world later on in the game.
fun fact with SMB1 that i learned from Kosmic is that in every x-1 stage it has a secret 1 up mushroom in it
There are a couple you definitely missed.
Super Mario 64,: Once you drain the moat, you get a 1up by walking in the 4 corners of the shallow water that's left in the castle, similar to the one in Tall Tall Mountain.
Super Mario Sunshine: In Ricco Harbor you can get by talking to the three swimming piantas. You have to wait for several minutes for them to swim close enough to the shore.
Super Mario Galaxy: There is one on top of the giant tree on the first planet in Good Egg Galaxy, and you need very good skills with the Bee Mushroom to get it.
New Super Mario Bros. Wii: In 1-1, if you wait on the rolling hill that has the pipe to the second star coin, if you just wait on the pipe and don't go down it, it will move into a fake wall and you will end up in a secret area with 3 1ups.
You can get the 3 up moon in Yoshi's Island 1 with just Yoshi. If you bounce off a Banzai Bill with him to land on the cloud platform to the right, you can run and jump, then bail off Yoshi to get to the 3 Up Moon
16:24: The flat part of the wall Copycat’s standing on can also be reached from the regular level
If I remember right you can get the Cheese Bridge moon and exit by spin jumping off of Yoshi.
For the nsmbu chain chomp one, you can use the p switch to turn them to coins to get the 1 up
6:11 they did hint at those blocks because the clouds behind the blocks look like a hand pointing up
You should do a video about the evolution of certain enemies throughout the years in each game.
in Mario 64, there is 1-up in the ice slide where you have to colect speed for 3 whole house and then go in the slide to get a 1-up shroom, this is because normaly if you just slide down the mushroom will just noclip out of the slide

14:50 there is actually a 1-up before that. It’s in 1-1 and you need to get the acorn and fly all the way to the top left at the start.
You should make a video like this but then about collectables like star coins or green stars
I think the dumpster life-up heart in Mario Odyssey should of been mentioned supposing you have to go out of your way to hit a certain trash can that is easily skipped in a normal playthrough
The three 1 ups In galaxy 2 werent a mistake being like that, they're meant to be a reward for your hard work getting to that area and It was even In either the manual or encyclopedia

6:10 I don’t know if this was intentional, but right where the hidden block is, the cloud is shaped like a hand and finger pointing up
Actually in sm64 there’s 2 1-ups when you touch all 4 corners under bridge it will reward with 1-ups

Also, that's definitely not the most cryptic 1up placement in that game. Even some of the letter worlds like C-1 have slightly tougher to find 1ups.

Another thing to note about that hidden 1-Up in the original SMB is it doesn't work if you use the Warp Zone to get there.
There's so many good ones missing too

The Super Mario Sunshine one I would disagree with. I would say that the most hidden 1-up in the game is by talking to all three of the duck ring riders in Ricco Harbour

I had no idea Mario 64 has so many secret one-ups
i never played the N64 at all. at that time i had my fill of Nintendo and was looking for something new. luckily the PS1 came out that year and i immediately latched on to it
@@mattalan6618 I never really cared for the original Mario 64 too much I felt like the game was okay to play if your speed running it. But I always played the 64 DS version of the game
@@Dashiell777 i have an N64 emulator on my PC and i tried getting into SM64 but i just couldnt get into it past the first course. i get te game has fans and people like it but to me it just looks dated
@@mattalan6618 I really didn't get into the original Mario 64 but Thaddeus want was so much better you should try to dS version. Now the controls at night game are really hard to control sometimes but here you can use different controllers if you play on an emulator
