NHL 24 is the first time I’ve ever been embarrassed to score a goal in a hockey game because of those Fortnite kiddy spotlight celebrations. Just off the charts cringe levels.
Agreed 100%. I’m the type of guy who just will span the a button no matter what if I score or not I just want to continue the game most of the time. it’s so annoying to just sit there and wait and there’s nothing you can do. I swear every year the game is getting worse. When are we going to finally have enough and just stop buying it. I mean imagine if all of us just don’t buy the game that would send a huge message

Why hype up the AI and then show them on Rookie? Part of me just thinks the AI is a train wreck and they can’t fix it
And man the ice is becoming so cluttered with gimmicky BS. Like we already have goofy X-factor tags and a pressure clock, and now we're getting highlighting around players for one-timers. This game is looking more and more arcade every year.
I'm waiting until presentation deep dive, as a franchise player at this point thats the most important thing I want since I play all my games and not simming. I just want full replay back and them to focus on save and goal replays instead of hitting replays which no one like me care about. When concussions its just really weird they focused on hitting...those are my thoughts...not that they matter lol
Franchise players myself. I second what you said. I know lots hate the 2k comparison but I dont care. Looking at NBA2K anything, there franchise modes depth is light years ahead of EA's in EVERY single way. From editing, to changing the league rules and dont even get me started with ERA's.... Truly wish the developers loved the game they make 1/10th as much as we love the game of Hockey...

@@jaheimmoultrie7584 actually there was a lot longer and deeper pre game presentation etc, in NHL 22, it was in the settings that you had to change.
nhl 94 is overrated as heck, NHL 14 is still my all time favorite video game ever.

I have never really thought about the difficulty the videos are made on, and that really makes a big difference. I've seen many react to this trailer and most complain about the defense being awful and stuff. I was kind of wondering about it too, but that is a great point and one I'm kind of surprised I (and even more those who make reaction videos) didn't think about.
I'm one of those who these trailers doesn't really matter much to though. The thought of not starting my franchises from anything but the current/upcoming season does not compute. If I for some reason decided not to get NHL 25, I think it is more likely I go back to play something like NHL 19 and, while gameplay wouldn't be as developed, it would have a bunch of retired players still active, which can be nice, among other things.
Has to be one of the most underwhelming feature set I’ve seen for an nhl game in a long long time…sure you can say they’re making some progress but this year feels like baby steps
honestly im just excited to see that EA ACTUALLY changed the gameplay for once, and I actually like these changes and would consider them improvements.

For me its a good change.
1. Skating is the most important thing in real life hockey (McDavid, MacKinnon, Makar, J/Q Hughes) their skating elevates em from the rest. So I am hoping that this skating is also a Skill gap factor
2. AI will always be a problem i have no hopes for it to be making a difference since in the trailer Scheifele literally is skating into the goalie
3. Avoidence feature is nice because Ai uses it to makes the game more real life
4. skill based 1 timers also a good idea but have to wait and see how much of a difference it makes we see green ones dont go in can red ones go in ?
All in all I like the changes. it feels like this new dev team (thats in charge 2 years) really cares to make the game better year to year. NHL 15-23 is a joke but i am hopefull that they bring it to its old glory GM Connected probably coming next year as they said in a interview a year ago 👍🏼
Agreed, I also really like that the players finding holes to get open.
I wouldnt get my hopes up for GM Connected.

I’m assuming you’re talking about Sway and it’s tough, because the Bruins only have 8.5 left in space. The big issue is Don wants to have at least $1 million left, so he can pick up someone at the deadline. If you give him what he wants right now, you leave yourself literally right up against the cap and you can’t even call players up or send them down unless injury.

Can't do EA Sports anymore. Every game they release is a pile. They're never gonna change. They're gonna keep building on code that's too old. All because..... UltiMatE teAm. Thanks to the addicts that continue to pump money into EA because they get oh so excited opening packs that, in reality, boil down to nothing more than 1s and 0s. 1s and funking 0s. Not even a real-world tangible card that would possibly retain value over time, but a virtual card distributed at EA's will.

I like what I'm seeing here, but I want to watch the rest of the reveal trailers, especially franchise and HUT.
100% they put it on rookie to show that “skill based 1 timers” go in, knowing full well that on all-star which is what online settings are, they wouldn’t go in and will still be a routine save from the goalies like it is now.
Ultimately this is 3 straight years with nothing that couldn’t have really just been added in a patch and definitely not worthy of a AAA title priced game.
1 timers went in in NHL 14, we also had working vision control in NHL 14. This game is literally just giving back features that were taken out 11 years ago

I'm hopeful that this game is good. I'm still waiting for the franchise deep dive and to see if they touched BAP before i consider buying.
I dont think the difficulty has any bearing on how the AI react or make decisions. It just impacts things like their interception rating, poke check rating etc. on defence and shooting/passing accuracy and speed on offence. Their "IQ" is unchanged. This is my observation from playing the game and not necessarily testing the theory.

The graphics look slightly better. Idk if its the 4k or what but it looks Sharper and Brighter. Colours seem to pop a bit more. where before it seemed to all blend together and was quite dull.
Its hard to get excited about doing One Tees. I like how the Skating looks. In game tho we will have to see how it plays and feels. Cuz like you said they are taking the best clips and making it look the best they can. how it plays is another story.
Ice Q is really a cringe term that nobody will care about. Its the Frostbite engine i heard mixed reviews about. Some really like it and others dont. it is what it is.

I think it's GOOD for an EA NHL trailer, but not an amazing trailer, overall. It's not mind-blowing, but I think it's solid, and encouraging. Like you said multiple times, I'm hopeful that some of the wobbles, especially defensively, were just because of the clips being on a lower difficulty. And like you said, if you see things like your defenders just being passive on All-Star and Superstar, then we're back to square one and all of these improvements mean nothing, really, because the game still plays badly and the AI still sucks.
Overall, I think the tweaks to skating are a really welcome change, a few wonky animations aside-but that's just the way the game animates. I've accepted it a long time ago. Being able to have more responsive, nuanced skating, and having more control is great.
The one-timer tweaks I like. Reminds me a lot of timed finishing in EA FC/FIFA, which is rad, albeit maybe a bit too OP. It's something that was tweaked to be less OP in patches, and something I'd imagine will get tweaked even more in EA FC 25. I bet this year, for NHL 25, the skill-based one-timers will be super OP to start, then either via patches, or by NHL 26, they'll be better balanced.
It's still not gonna be perfect, 'cause like you said, it's still got all that underlying code, and there's a lot of cruft built up around this series, but I think this has the potential to be among the better entries in the series in quite a while.
Maybe I'm being optimistic and lenient just because NHL 24 was such a huge, huge letdown, that anything that gives me hope at all is a nice change of pace. It's not revolutionary, but it's a lot of nice changes that I think could add up to NHL 25 being a game worth getting if they all hit as well as they have the potential to. For full price? Nah. But that's just me; they couldn't really do anything for me to get me to get this for full price anymore beyond a complete teardown and overhaul. But I could absolutely justify this on a Black Friday/Boxing Day sale if, again, everything hits like it has the potential to.
Gameplay : complete Revamped goalie system.
Better hitting, poking, interceptions.

Balance offense and defense. Reward good defensive play. Make playing defense feel rewarding and fun..
I like the new changes.... and we all know that user team AI players are always on rooke level (no mather what you choose for the game)... so they could really empowered AI defence for teammates... CPU AI players do change how they play defence according to the level you choose.... Anyway, looking forward to play NHL 25!!

I think with the 1 timers, you’re gonna have to pull back and time it properly, rather than just holding up on the right stick and clapping everyone. Kinda like what they did with the hitting.

I thought the trailer was good and I’m more excited for the presentation trailer and hopefully the return of full presentation and longer pre game intros 🙏🏻 to be part of the gameplay aspect because this is a perfect time to have it back in the game

Yeah it’s certainly a lot of orange. It kind of looks better on the ducks Instagram page versus in game. But definitely should have added more black like the pants and gloves and what not

The gameplay looked similar to 24 and I was expecting it.
As for what gameplay features I would like to see, Stamina should mean more then it does right now. There is a reason why in high levels of hockey shifts are normally 45 seconds, not just for that shift but for the entire game. I would like to see two stamina bars. One for the current shift and one that represents the entire game. So if you hem a D man in their zone with 0 stamina it starts to effect how fast they recover and how long their next shift can be. Think of the health system in Dragons Dogma. You have 100% of your health but if you fight poorly and take a bunch of hits you can only heal back to say 85% of your total health until you rest.
I would also like to see a defensive boost to counter the pressure system. If you perform well in your own zone you should get a little burst to counter attack.
