I like the Bible study on the woman at the well. This story is inspiring in so many ways.
I heard an interesting concept of this story about the woman at the well; Jesus had to go through Samaria ( some area) you can see this as Jesus needing to go through some area in us to heal us, that we may be avoiding. Not to make you feel shame or guilt etc. but to show you that He wants to love you right where you are. You need to give Jesus all access to your everything for Him to be your everything. So let Him go through your some-area to change you and give you all He has.
    God Bless!💓

Love Piper. I actually emailed him about baptism. Je emailede back pronto 😮 he replied to my question. I asked, since I'm a Christian do I need to be bathed in water for a reborn woman for many years. I was baptized at birth, was that acceptable, even though I was a baby and didn't know about rebirth.
He was so kind, so endearing. He said in your heart, how can you not believe you aren't an accepted reborn woman? Do you not know, He sees your heart. And do you not know His great love for you? You are already reborn. That's pretty much what he said. He has a video on baptism. I love that man. Very powerful. And your prayer made me tear up. In a good way. Love you. Sister in Christ. How blessed are we?!!!

Thank you for inspiring me to dig deeper into God's Word. You are a wonderful example to a lot of people. A while ago around mothers day our pastor prayed over the church thanking Jesus that he always came and still comes to meet us woman where we are broken and busy with what ever needs to be done in contrast to the men in the bible having to go up the mountains to meet God there. Jesus always met the woman while they went about their dayly chores. This bible study reminded me of that prayer. It is still so true today. I most often hear Jesus while doing the dishes or ironing clothes. Just like Jesus met the woman when she was collecting her water. In the heat of the day.

We can also get so caught up in those areas we fall short or don’t measure up. When we look back and dwell on where we went wrong rather than forgiving ourselves for being human. I love the woman at the well. It is proof that I am enough and He will do whatever it takes to pursue me.

Never heard that quote before, but man, it is spot on! It sums it up so well. It’s not all the legalistic distractions like the clothes we wear, the way our hair is done, the music we listen to that matters most. It’s having complete satisfaction in Jesus. ❤️❤️❤️

Inspired by this channel, I've decided to start a Bible journaling 3-ring binder where I do Scripture-writing and take notes from my Bible studies, commentaries, videos, and books I'm reading. I plan on hole-punching your printables to put in there as well as any hand-outs I want to keep from church. I plan to get dividers so that I can make a section for each book of the Bible as well as for topics I study a lot. I'm anxious to make it look snazzy with colors and drawings and maps, too. I'm excited, and thank you for showing what you do.

I do need to make one correction- Nico wasn't a religious professional, so in that way he WASN'T perceived as one of the holiest people, but he IS to be seen in contrast to the woman at the well as much holier and much more socially accepted!

Just discovering your channel and this study in particular. I absolutely love it! And I am thoroughly enjoying all of your other videos as well! I did a bible study a couple of years ago called Jesus and Women by Kristi McLelland (so good!!). She was telling us that in first century middle eastern culture, men could divorce their wives for anything and everything- even something so minor as burning the bread! I grew up reading this story and thinking not the best things about her- assuming the worst, but we have no idea why she had 5 husbands! Maybe she had been divorced for things that were really out of her control! It was really such an interesting perspective and completely changed the way I viewed her. And I LOVE that in verse 21 Jesus says, "an hour is coming when you WILL worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem". He already knew that she would worship Him in heaven and tells her before she ever even knows that He is the Messiah!! And on down in verse 23-24 He is discussing theology with her! There is so much here that shows us just how much Jesus valued women in a time and culture that looked down on them. Kristi says that people often say that Jesus was turning things upside down, but He was really turning them right side up!

Another thing I love about him going through Samaria - if the Jews needed to travel, they would go completely around Samaria (not through it and just ignore all the people they would literally avoid the country and go completely around which added who knows how much time to their journey. So that adds even more significance to it as well

I appreciate this video so much. I do have a question though my son who's struggling with his faith, had pointed out that Jesus called this woman a dog. I need help with this because that does not sound like a good thing. And my son says what father calls his daughter a dog?😢

    • @Wynterraven1111
      @Wynterraven1111 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

An interesting - and possibly confusing - account took place between Jesus and a woman He called a “little dog”:
Then Jesus went out from there and departed to the region of Tyre and Sidon. And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, “Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed.”
      Matthew 15:21-22
The woman is a Canaanite, which makes her one of the Jews’ ancient enemies and a surprising person to seek Jesus’ help. When Israel entered the Promised Land they were supposed to destroy these people, because of their wickedness.
But He answered her not a word. And His disciples came and urged Him, saying, “Send her away, for she cries out after us.”
But He answered and said, “I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”
      Matthew 15:23-24
Why Did Jesus Call the Woman a Dog?
God told Abraham, “And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (Genesis 12:3). Primarily this referred to the Messiah coming from Israel, but it also referred to Israel being the witness nation. The Jews would receive the Gospel first and spread it to the surrounding world.
Romans 1:16 says, “the gospel is…for the Jew first.”
When Jesus sent out the Twelve, He said, “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans. But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel” (Matthew 10:5a-6). Jesus didn’t forbid the disciples from preaching to Gentiles if they encountered them along the way, but they were to go first to Israel.
Jesus told the Canaanite woman the Jews had to have the first opportunity to accept Him:
Then she came and worshiped Him, saying, “Lord, help me!”
But He answered and said, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.”
      Matthew 15:25-26
The “children” are the Jews, and the “bread” is the spiritual food or Gospel.
The Greek word for “dog” is kyōn, and it is a derogatory term the Jews used for Gentiles. The word Jesus used for “little dogs” is kynarion, and it’s not derogatory or cruel. It can be used affectionately, even of a family pet. Look at her response:
And she said, “Yes, Lord, yet even the little dogs eat the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.”
Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, great is your faith! Let it be to you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed from that very hour.
      Matthew 15:27-28

When reading this, I read "sixth hour" and didn't know what that was. So, I looked it up to learn something. Basically, noon is called "sixth hour" because it is about six hours after sunrise. Maybe most knew that, but I didn't; so, I thought I'd share. This section of John had always been my least favorite story/passage in the New Testament until I watched "The Chosen" and decided to read it again for myself. Why was it my least favorite? Before, with only a brief read, I put myself in her shoes and really felt like Jesus was condemning her. I thought back to the sins of my past, and I was like, "I'm no better at all." And, I started bashing myself, yet again, for my past. However, with this new reading because of this video and scenes from "The Chosen" running through my mind, I see it differently. Jesus brought up her past and her sins as a witness to her of His identity and His love that is different than what she expected from culture. In contrast, our mutual enemy and people (including ourselves) bring up the past and mention past sins as an accusation and condemnation, impeding our new identity in Christ [that new identity given to us from Jesus like Jonathan was giving his identity to David, as you mentioned in the 1 Samuel 18:1-5 video regarding Inductive Bible Study]. 2 Corinthians 5:17-19 -- "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to Himself in Christ, not counting men’s trespasses against them. And He has committed to us the message of reconciliation."

I’ve never known of a Jew to be that hateful to anyone let alone Samaritans. Also the only time women were treated as lesser was in Paul’s teachings. In the teachings of Judaism, or what you call Old Testament, women were treated as equals, as if they belonged. The women ran the household and controlled the money of their homes. If a man wanted to buy something he had to ask his wife if there was any money for that. In fact it’s still that way, at least in Judaism. Women’s value decreased in christianity due to Paul’s teachings, which is why the feminist movement exists. I know, as I’m studying Judaism so I know what is being taught in the Bible.
