      Hi! I can understand being able to lay a solid color down smooth and glossy but what about spraying a metallic or pearl base where you have to lay down an orientation/control coat? It’s going to be a little rough right?

    I’m a huge fan of your videos Brian. I’m very young and have successfully opened my own small auto body and paint shop I do small thinks like bumpers and hoods and an occasional whole vehicle. When I was 17 the owner of the hot rod shop I was an intern at told me I would never be a good painter and because of you and your content that you make you have encouraged me to not give up and to keep getting better. I am 19 now and delivering great looking paint jobs because of you and all that you teach me so thank you for everything it’s because of your teaching that I’m as good as I am today

    I'm just a weekend warrior guy taught only through youtube (thank you for that Brian lol) with one full car paint job under my belt, but I only used one paint gun for my project. I used the Eastwood Concours paint gun and I used it to spray sealer, high build primer, metallic/pearl base and clear coat. All with a 1.3 tip. The 1.3 tip was within the all of the ranges in the technical data sheets, and I made sure to thoroughly clean the gun between each type of media. Its probably not at all ideal in a professional scenario, but with only 2-3 projects at home that need painted, it made sense to see if one gun could do it all before spending more money on additional tools that I may never use again.

    I used to search for peoples advice on paint work but now all i do is watch your videos and write notes down. My paint quality has become much better and i take your approach to not fear it and if i mess up just do it again.

    Hey Brian, cool video.
    I really, REALLY liked the explanation and fixation on how and where to begin/stop apllying the paint. That is some of the biggest questions for beginners answered perfectly.
    I also like to apply the clear similar, to avoid runners and uneven orangepeel.
    A lot of beginners do forgett to take care of edges, like wheelhouses or the underside of a trunk, which I focus on just before the second coat, so it can be smooth and won't have as much overspray.
    Little trick on the side, I've seen you had to seal the white in 2 coats, I like to get around that by adding just a few drops of yellow sealer. It shouldn't change the color and does wonders for covering darker primer and other spots. Also Sikkens/Akzonobel have a spraypaint primer you could use for smaller areas.

    Nice review. Also a good trip the glasurit rep told me. When you put your sealer on (wet on wet) if you're just spot sealing, put some fade out thinner (blender) over the edges, that way you done get any overspray and is just ready for base.

    If you don’t like having that RODE wireless go attached to the collar of your tshirts. Look into the RODE LAV mic for the wireless go. I think it’s 70-80$ you could put the chunky wireless go in your pocket snd clip the lav mic to your t. Less noticeable and won’t pull and stretch the collar out! Great work yet again my good dude!!

    Hey Brian, your videos are awesome! I do have a paint question for you: my truck has panels that are down to bare metal in parts, while other parts still have base and clear. Do I need to take the whole panel down to bare metal to repaint, or is there a procedure for sanding it?

    • @diegoespinoza2567
      @diegoespinoza2567 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would hit the rough areas with 320 grit then go over the entire panel with 400 grit up to 600 grit, this ensures it all has a bonding surface for the paint to grab on to. (Primer any bare metal areas)

    I wanna eventually get round to doing a full respray on my car. Is it possible to do the car in stages so front first then rear at different times. Or is it best to do the whole car in 1 go.

  • @spirom4870
    @spirom4870 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I have been painting cars for over 40 years, I don’t see what the benefit is with overlapping the paint into the adjacent panels for a full respray, what is wrong with painting to the edge of the panel or from the front to rear of the car for custom paints? I have never had any issues doing it that way. BTW, great TH-cam channel, keep up the good work, cheers

    Great video. I spray differently but as you stated there are a lot if different techniques. If in a downdraft I always spray from bottom to top and in a x draft I always start at the exhaust side and do this so that my paint lays into the wet paint instead of spraying over overspray.

    All the compressors in Eastwood are expensive. Can I buy a $200-$400 compressor that will do the job? What are the specs it needs?
    One more question, where should I go and buy the car paint? I live in the DFW area :).
    Thank you. Looking forward to paint my car.

    i Noticed you are painting at 30 PSI, is that about right?
    i know 3M suggests 20 PSI.

    Thank you for the viedeo, great as always. Would you recommand this gun for DIY, you know with a home compressor ? does it require as much air flow as HPLV guns ?

    Hey Brian. I just got myself a Dedoes mixing lid after you used it in the Eastwood Optiflow video (I'm using it for optiflow epoxy too). Does the spout seal well enough that you can just leave those on the can for an extended period of time without the paint inside going bad?

    Can you get the same paint results outside dealing with whatever temperature is outside and humidity ??

    I hate cleaning primers so this might be a good primer gun system for me. 🤔If it can handle primers, sealers, and polyester, I might just pop for this thing...

    Hey man love the content. Do u have any vids on how to remove all the trim and emblem pieces? Getting ready to try my first paint job on a 97 tracker and don't want to brake pieces that will be hard to find. Tks!
