Pizza Mania Demo 1 - Pizza Tower and Sonic Mania Combined

Quite an odd mod to come across, using completely different sprites for the game. Then I recall seeing some recreated levels of CYOP using those sprites. Anyway, while a bit odd I can say the effort is there, although it seems some parts of the mod could use some adjustment, simple one being some character sprites, and maybe change the entire level sprite art style to fit for the characters like how the boss room looks. As for bosses Fang could use some change, one being the flame shield since it is just a sprite change that boss basically have an invisible flame coming out, also the background during phase 2 basically made fang blend in with pattern, took a few tries to get used to it. That is all I have to say about the mod. It is a 1st demo which may be subject to change. Here is the link if you want to try the mod out yourself.

Pizza Tower used to be called that and in one of the betas a song from Sonic Mania appears in a deleted water level, also the year in which the game began to be developed was exactly the same year in which Sonic Mania Plus came out.

Also the part where you said that in one of the betas the 2nd level that was a water level had a sonic mania theme I think you're referring to ''early test build'' *the fan-game* the real early test build is basically lost media with only 8 people confirming its existance.
