Who can shake the feeling that the American train left the rails some time ago- but the engine continues to drag the cars alongside the track, some having flipped over on their sides, cargo spilling all over the mountain?
Let's hope it comes to rest before it gets to the bridge.
The problem with saying a bribe is a present or future favor is that, now, bribery would essentially be legal as long as payment is made after the person leaves office.
But if you say that it _can_ include the past, you set yourself up for others problems.
