Tearing up through the first part. Makes me remember Tom Hagan having to give Vito unbearable news. And how Vito still stands up like a father, and comforts his son. Adopted or not doesn't matter, he's a father before anything, and family is everything.
The image of Brando in this is one of the most powerful of any iconic image ever made. The music says more than words can. Brando was such a brilliant choice
Despite what is said about the so called Mafia, I always find Vito a real gangster, a real business man who archieved respect with words and not guns. Don Vito Corleone will always be the only and true godfather. Tremendous visionary who came from nothing and built an empire.
he achieved respect with guns and violence at first, then he became so feared that he no longer needed to use them, even though a trigger was pulled every now and then

Marlon Brando was so respected, admired and loved because he shared his genius with the world and thus gave everyone an amazing rare chance to actually see the genius of his mind and the magic of his talent in living and breathing action. We always hear about geniuses like Einstein or Van Gogh and Tesla. But, we almost never see their genius since it remains masked in their craft. Brandow was a child who worked in the body of a man. Its all the make-up this genius ever required. People will always be compared to Brando, but he will never be equaled.
