i don't know if this video is just too old, but the first one isn't working for me. when i trim the object in symetry, it keeps adding extra typology to my object, so the amount of voxels keeps changing when i trim, so the surface won't stay flat... there is also a line in the middle.. :( .. a few minutes later.. Alright, i tried again with a cylinder instead of a circle and it works that way instead.
For me, I find the best way to create a curved surface nowadays is to use the tube tool. Just turn “Closed” off in the profile settings to create and open-ended surface.
