ah thankyou! i knew i was doing something wrong. so many tutorials on braids but wouldnt work for detailed hair, this helps so much! i can just make one section
not sure if it was possible back then, but you can also use gizmo and symmetry to stretch it without changing curve angle, at least nowaday, so you don't have to mask

Your vids are lifesaving. A friend of mine has been rendering his Nomad work in Octane X for iPad - have you tried it? Any chance of a tutorial on using Octane for rendering your Nomad sculpts? I'm especially curious to see if Octane X supports the textures created on a Nomad obj in Procreate.
