  • US President Donald Trump says Egypt may end up blowing up the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam because Ethiopia has reportedly broken deal to resolve a dispute with Egypt, Sudan around it.
The giant hydro-electric dam dubbed the GERD has been centre of a dispute between the three African nations.
During a call with Sudan and Israeli leaders, Trump said that Ethiopia broke a deal he had worked on to resolve the dispute and said he has since cut off millions of dollars in aid to Addis Ababa.

Before the Republican Party and before Donald Trump. The fact that he’s up here practically green-lighting another country into starting a conflict that has nothing to with us is not, in any way shape or form, in our best interest and if terrorists decide to attack the US military facilities in Djibouti because the President came out in support of an Egyptian attack whose fault will that be?

When I read the comments, I realized how biased, ignorant and illiterate they are. the commentators and the African American society are. people need to realize that Egypt has been trying to reach an agreement for 10 years and failed. Ethiopia government has been lying and pretending that Egypt and Sudan are trying to oppress and tackle the Ethiopian development which is not true. Egypt agreed on most of the dam operational points. Egypt wants a compulsory agreement on the dam operation during different seasons and drought season. People need to know that Ethiopia has already built dams on rivers going to Kenya and Somalia without agreement with this country and caused catastrophic consequences there. The Nile is the only source of water for 100 millions Egyptians. Ethiopian policy is a policy of trying to force power and control leverage on Egyptian and not a cooperation policy. Ethiopia proved that they don´t want to negotiate. they withdrew from the African federation negotiations and they refused the American intervention without a compulsory agreement the dam will cause the destruction of 230 thousand acre and unemployment of 290 thousands Egyptians and 400 Million dollar on food importing. In addition to all that Egypt is a very poor country in water resources. The Ethiopian dam is a matter of life for the Egyptians and the Ethiopian politicians have been dodging and lying. Ethiopian politicians have been sending aggressive threatening messages to the Egyptians Arabic media and on the other hand claiming innocence to the western media. This conflict if it escalated won´t be Egyptian fault. It is Ethiopian politicians' fault for pushing the Egyptians to the limit and trying to manipulate Egypt.

Egyptians should not be fooled by this clown in the white house, he suggested "blow up" because he knows it will send Egyptians into deep grave danger this means no strong nation like Egypt in the "shithole" continent and Israel would control the region, particularly the middle east. In this conflict the damage that might happen to Egypt can not be fixed for centuries to come. The only option for Ethiopia and Egypt is to solve their own problem wisely, with a spirit of friendship and brotherhood. Egypt should also help Ethiopia on its effort of environment protection activities. Love and Peace for all.

    Fact check
    1. The dam has already been built.
2.The dam doesn’t stop the water flow since it’s getting filled-up in phases that will take 3 to 6 years depending on rain fall. This is the unselfish Ethiopia’s understandings of its neighbors’ need for water.
    3. Ethiopia was never been a part of any colonial era treaty that guaranteed Egypt and Sudan all the water flow because Ethiopia has never been colonized. That treaty is null.
    4. Any attack by Egypt is no one’s fault. That responsibility is solely on Egypt. They will be the one who will have to live with the consequences that will follow if they miscalculate this.
    5. The blue Nile from Ethiopia which accounts for over 80% of the Nile River DOES NOT start at the dam. If Ethiopia wants to stop the water, the dam is not the way to do it. Given the 99.9999% unlikely scenario that Egypt attacks the dam, Ethiopia will be in their FULL right to start diverting the number of small tributary rivers in the highlands which will starve the Blue Nile and significantly reduces the total amount of of water to the Nile River itself. Egypt knows that. Since they dug themselves in, they will have no choice to go to a full blown out war with Ethiopia. That will be the end of Egypt as we know it because:
    -Topography
The highlands of Ethiopia ranges between 8000 to 15000 ft elevation. Just getting there by itself with all your supplies is not just for Egypt it will be a daunting task for a more modernized military nation like USA.
    - Fighting force
Ethiopians have internal conflicts since its inception, but one thing that unite them is foreign wars. Ethiopia can enlist millions of troops at a moment of notice specially since they have a very large percentage of young population. Roughly 60% of 110 million are between 15 to 30 years old.
    -Diplomacy
Egypt used to be more appealing to the west. That’s why they were instrumental in blocking loans for the dam from IMF or world bank when Ethiopians asked for a loan. That’s why Ethiopia funded the project by herself. Worked for Ethiopia unintentionally. That showed other African, Asian and Latin American countries what can be done without this monopoly institutions of the west. Giving Ethiopia the upper hand in diplomacy to the majority of nations. Ethiopia is a head quarter to many international institutions only next to New York. Ethiopia’s geopolitical appeal to the rest of Subsaharan African countries is significant.
    -Internal conflicts
Like I mentioned above, Ethiopians aren’t new to internal conflicts. But, Egypt has a lot to lose if that happens. Going on a full blown out war will make them weak internally opening up other issues they will not control. Turkey, Libya, Iran, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, Hizbollah, ISIS, Muslim brotherhood, etc... it will destabilize them to the point they will not recover.
    -Aswan dam
This is a very remote unlikely scenario, but what if Ethiopia has the ability to strike the Aswan dam? What will happen if it collapsed? That, I will leave it to anyone to do a research. That possibility will remain no matter what. That by itself scares Egypt a $hit out of them.
At they end, my money is on Egypt to agree on Ethiopia’s term. That’s why Ethiopia has not signed any deal. Egypt has to understand that Ethiopia can not guarantee anything like those colonizers. This is what happens when you are dealing with a free country that has known war for its entire existence.
