@ElektraAllsenberrie it doesn't matter at all, the people you surround yourself with and where you find them will just be different. You absolutely should start that band!
@ElektraAllsenberrie if you keep looking you'll find people. Go out to local shows that have bands in a similar genre to what you want to do. Bands are collaborative so try and be open to other people's ideas too!
I was in multiple bands for years as the drummer. Once I wasn't in a band anymore, I didn't play drums anymore. Packing up my drums, moving them to the car. Unloading my drums, moving them to inside. Setting them up, move them in a corner. Move them on stage for sound check. Play show 🤘🤘moving them off stage after a 40 or 60 or 90 minute set. Pound alcohol and drugs. Move them back to my car (sometimes down 2 story stairs) Load up car. Drive home/my bands practice space. Move them back inside. Say "I'm going to fucking bed". Wake up the next day.... BAND PRACTICE!!! Set them up all over again. This is why haven't touched my drumkit in over 6 or 7 years. I hate them. I really do. I left out a lot more. Ask me what I left out.
As a bassist, I generally try to stay on the drummer's good side and would absolutely help them set up when I was in bands. The rhythm section has to stick together as protection from the singer's and guitarist's craziness and keep everything all together without the credit (unless your Rush).
I've been thinking about wanting to start a band - there's a few things that are a bit challenging. Finding musicians, naming the band and remembering the lyrics to the songs. I want to be as good as the band Type O Negative - if I had to guess what year should I start a band, I would have to choose the late 2020s that way I can give myself some time to figure everything out. Playing instruments and singing are also a bit of a challenge, I have to get trained before I can do more things. I'm going to have to think positive and see what happens.
Man, I love Type O Negative! How's your search going? I've been looking into starting a band with some good close friends too, actually. I've been working on and off on this concept album that's pretty Iron Maiden inspired, and I'm just real excited to get going with everything! I think we're gonna take it down a notch first though and really work on nailing a good setlist of covers so we can start exploring and experimenting with our sound to see what fits what we want to write. Maybe I’m biased because I play drums and only drums but I found the drums easiest to pick up when I was younger. No notes, chords, or pitches to learn. What I liked about drums after i learned the basics, was throwing on my favorite songs in my headphones and just playing along. 2024. Bands doesn´t pay anymore. Touring costs went to the stratosphere, the market is oversaturated, people are more and more addicted to social media that it´s difficult to find REAL musicians and no posers, and as the guy good described in the video, many of them give up after realising that the level of commitment is higher as long as the band grow, then you must each 1 or 2 years renewing the staff etc. The second point is age. When I started my music career in the eighties, I was 19, eager, ambitious and arrogant and the band was a kind of Union of Gangsters where we think we were so unique and a shield against the adult world. Today I don´t believe in that anymore - which is absolutely normal - and the only reason I would like to form a band is MONEY (Yes, I am a pro musician).
I agree with a lot of these points, but I do think there's value in starting a band for fun too. Just not if you want to make a go of being a pro musician
@@anndynegative Yes, in an aspect you are right. Me and some of my buddies of mines want to start a band but we dont know where to go or we dont have any space we want to rent a storage unit but we dont know If that's a good idea any bright ideas youtube?
“Too late” is ridiculous. everything will always have happened in the past, it’ll always feel like people have done this a bunch before you. But the reality is, you are the youngest you’ll be for the rest of your life. You can wait for that life to be shorter, or you can just do the shit you want to do.
Do any of your friends play/want to play music? If not, are you leaning for a more alternative style? If so maybe see if your school has any openly punk/metal/emo/goth/ect kids. They always have the best music taste, and a lot of them love playing too. Just try talking to those ones :)
Lost me at finding other musicians. You don't even need that. Learn to play multiple instruments, learn to use a DAW, and learn how to push your shit. That's it. Love a 17 year experienced musician!
WARNING LONG BAND STORY ( well not that long at least) I tried starting a band during the summer after I got outta elementary school and moved on to middle school but it was just difficult finding the right band members and trying to stick to one or two metal genres, my band started off as the rippers and we wanted to be a rock band me and my buddy started it but il tell ya something we had no idea what the hell we were doing 😂 Anyway we changed our band name to deadly crows and we could not stick with one music genre we wanted to do Nu metal like slipknot or mushroomhead and then I tried making us a deathcore band AND THEN A GRINDCORE/ SLAM But then I moved and found new band members " only two" and we did nothing but dreaming the one guy was going to be OUR 2ND RHYTHM GUITARIST but then after awhile we let go of some members and then we changed our name to NecroNiall and we were planning on joining the Christian black metal scene, Our 3rd guitarist became our lead singer because he didn't have enough money to afford equipment but even then he never practiced he was just pretty much dead weight cuz we was barely practicing and I nagged and nagged on him about practicing vocals I was sending him bands and songs to listen too I was sending him tutorials but he kept just making excuses, Our drummer was dedicated though but he said that if the singer left then he would so I pretty much had to keep the singer around 🙄 I changed the band name and genre to Saviors Guilt and I changed the genre to classic 2000s metalcore but my band kept arguing about it and complaining about it they were just pretty much being babys about so then I changed the band and genre back to NecroNiall and then we got in another big argument and then there pretty much out of the band, Reasons why I'd be impossible to let them back in, I can't bring my old singer back in because as I mentioned he never practiced he was just in the band to say he was in the band, I can't let my old drummer back in because he is gonna complain about the singer not being in the band and then he's going to try to invite him back in but there was even one time WHERE HE TRIED TO KICK ME OUT OF THE BAND A BAND I STARTED AND BROUGHT HIM INTO. I let go of them now but I've come a long way I started the band when I was 11 years old and I'm 13 years old now and I changed the band back to Saviors Guilt but let me tell you something. Trying to make your own band is not easy, you can't be in a band just to say your in a band it takes time and a shit tone of dedication man, you have to decide which band member is good and which one you have to drag bye your feet, you have to decide which people and which people have to leave, No matter what place your in the band either if your a singer a guitarist or a drummer it's never easy and you never pick it up so quickly right on time, You need to learn how to deal with a band changing it's name or changing its genre and all of my band members are older than me yet information like this can't come out there mouth like what comes out of mine, When your in a band it doesn't matter how much of a budget you have or how good your music is it matters the time you put in it and the people who are willing to do the same with you. I'm Orion Lyons, I'm 13 years old and I play guitar in a Metalcore band Saviors Guilt, I live in Illinois in the area of Pontiac, if there's anyone willing to join me then reply to me or if you want to reply to me in general that's fine too. For now Goodbye. I'll see you guys soon
I have all the gear in my music rooms, PA systems, way too many guitars, amps galore, mics, a few nice bass’s, pretty decked out Yamaha drum kit, & insane amounts of software n pedals. Me n my homies just make rap music with beats we find on TH-cam… I keep telling them we could start a band n I have two on board I’m pretty sure with one knowing how to play a little bass. I’ll keep it updated if it turns into anything🤙🏼
and if you still dont have friends you can always learn multiple instruments and record them separately then add them together

Yup! This is the exact right take forever
Im a freshman and really want to start a band I play guitar but I don't know where to find people?
Flash your teacher
Do any of your friends play/want to play music? If not, are you leaning for a more alternative style? If so maybe see if your school has any openly punk/metal/emo/goth/ect kids. They always have the best music taste, and a lot of them love playing too. Just try talking to those ones :)
Trying to get into the local music scene is easy until you realize theres only bars that host music which means you cant get in
1:14 looks like perfect place to start a folk punk band lmao
HOLY SHIT STEPHEN STILLS REFERENCE
Good catch!
We wanted our bands name to be unleashed but that’s taken so our band is called THE UNLEASHED 🗿
Perfect for starting a punk band... LOL!
Anyone tryna start one still?? Or just looking to jam and have fun🔥💯

Anyone in their early 20’s
Me and I’m turning 21 this month.
Ok, you got a band, recorded 10 awesome tracks, and have done a few live shows (before 12 people), and made a cheep and fun music video. Now what?
So what if all I can do is sing😅(sort of)
I would do it for fun. Like Julie and the Phantoms ...don't laugh at me
Im gonna buy guitar and i know really good drummer
I'm 11 and I want to start a band
GET OUT THERE AND DO IT! you're gonna have a ton of fun
Lost me at finding other musicians. You don't even need that.
Learn to play multiple instruments, learn to use a DAW, and learn how to push your shit. That's it.
Love a 17 year experienced musician!
Tbf, from 4:25, you're on point
I mean, to be fair, the term "band" rather refers to at least two people playing together
2:17 DO YOU HAVE A DEATHWISH...?
Anyone tryna form a band in Knoxville Tennessee?
What genre?
6:36 Early Linkin park from 1999

Ayooooo what do u play?? I’m looking to play with others tbh💯
WARNING LONG BAND STORY ( well not that long at least) I tried starting a band during the summer after I got outta elementary school and moved on to middle school but it was just difficult finding the right band members and trying to stick to one or two metal genres, my band started off as the rippers and we wanted to be a rock band me and my buddy started it but il tell ya something we had no idea what the hell we were doing 😂
Anyway we changed our band name to deadly crows and we could not stick with one music genre we wanted to do Nu metal like slipknot or mushroomhead and then I tried making us a deathcore band AND THEN A GRINDCORE/ SLAM
But then I moved and found new band members " only two" and we did nothing but dreaming the one guy was going to be OUR 2ND RHYTHM GUITARIST but then after awhile we let go of some members and then we changed our name to NecroNiall and we were planning on joining the Christian black metal scene,
Our 3rd guitarist became our lead singer because he didn't have enough money to afford equipment but even then he never practiced he was just pretty much dead weight cuz we was barely practicing and I nagged and nagged on him about practicing vocals I was sending him bands and songs to listen too I was sending him tutorials but he kept just making excuses,
Our drummer was dedicated though but he said that if the singer left then he would so I pretty much had to keep the singer around 🙄
I changed the band name and genre to Saviors Guilt and I changed the genre to classic 2000s metalcore but my band kept arguing about it and complaining about it they were just pretty much being babys about so then I changed the band and genre back to NecroNiall and then we got in another big argument and then there pretty much out of the band,
Reasons why I'd be impossible to let them back in,
I can't bring my old singer back in because as I mentioned he never practiced he was just in the band to say he was in the band,
I can't let my old drummer back in because he is gonna complain about the singer not being in the band and then he's going to try to invite him back in but there was even one time WHERE HE TRIED TO KICK ME OUT OF THE BAND A BAND I STARTED AND BROUGHT HIM INTO.
I let go of them now but I've come a long way I started the band when I was 11 years old and I'm 13 years old now and I changed the band back to Saviors Guilt but let me tell you something.
Trying to make your own band is not easy, you can't be in a band just to say your in a band it takes time and a shit tone of dedication man, you have to decide which band member is good and which one you have to drag bye your feet, you have to decide which people and which people have to leave,
No matter what place your in the band either if your a singer a guitarist or a drummer it's never easy and you never pick it up so quickly right on time,
You need to learn how to deal with a band changing it's name or changing its genre and all of my band members are older than me yet information like this can't come out there mouth like what comes out of mine,
When your in a band it doesn't matter how much of a budget you have or how good your music is it matters the time you put in it and the people who are willing to do the same with you.
I'm Orion Lyons, I'm 13 years old and I play guitar in a Metalcore band
Saviors Guilt, I live in Illinois in the area of Pontiac, if there's anyone willing to join me then reply to me or if you want to reply to me in general that's fine too.
For now Goodbye.
I'll see you guys soon
