Shame they haven't developed their own planes. Thailands's sent stuff to space, time they get serious about aerospace if they want to remain neutral. The US+NATO are putting more and more restrictions on exports to countries who have good relations with China and Russia.
I am a very distant descendant of colonel Chalerm Akas who flew the first thai made plane to lift from the ground. The thais have a very old and proud aviation tradition. We have always prized our best aircraft and pilot. Its very nice to see someone interested in our history.
I'm glad you visited our country and our museum. I've never been to that museum before since I live very very far from it, thank you for showing it to us. And as a War Thunder player, I want Thailand to have its own tech tree.
The last big hall that you showing all those yellow planes also houses a library on the upper floor. Thai and English books, old RTAF own aviation magazine from the 60s-70s (in Thai). I bet all the tourists never check this out.
You may wonder why Thailand has so many F-5s in the museum. Because they have 3 versions of F-5 : A/B and E/F and the latest version that Thailand has upgraded is ST/TH.
12:55 is the Sky Eye from the time where UAV was called RPV, it's the first unmanned aircraft used in combat by RTAF back in 1980s during the skirmish with Laos Arava was a SIGINT aircraft and has been considered highly classified up until its retirement (specific set of equipment they had remain mostly classified), they've actually been replaced by SIGINT variant of the Saab 340
I live not far and visit about once a year. Some incredible aircraft to HOPEFULLY continue to be well looked after. In recent years it's good to see the roof built out the back and some aircraft brought inside.
Interesting how the third F-5 shown (the first F-5E) has the Improved Handling Qualities upgrades: larger chisel-shaped Leading Edge Root extension, flatter "shark"-style nose, and automatic flap deployment system
If I’m not wrong, the royal aircraft after 737-200 was replaced by -400, and -800 for the latest aircraft. The king sometimes flies by himself too since he has a 737 type rated certificate. The a340-500 was owned and used mostly by the government. There are 2 types of VIP aircrafts. The ones with blue tail are government VIP. The orange tail is for the royal aircraft.
Btw just letting you know that there is also another military museum, which is close to Don Mueang where this aviation museum is located. It is called Thai national memorial, i'm not exactly sure what it has but there seem to be a few military equpment included tanks and helicopters on display.

I love the Gripen its my favorite fighter in Ace Combat games. Also you should visit the Central Museum of Indonesian Air Force "Dirgantara Mandala" in Yogyakarta. It has a nice collection of aircraft ranging those from the War Of Independence to the Cold War.
Making note on the "random military bases", the black one shown on top is actually parked in a bunker made into a museum. The museum is located near Göta flygflottilj. It was originally stationed in Linköping but has been moved to Aeroseum.

Royal Thai Air Force Asia's first and oldest air force and one of the oldest in the world.
