Whether an anomaly in the recording quality, several errant fingers on the strings and reeds gone awry, or my tired ears, the orchestra's intonation does not live up to the singers' potential. Who can criticize singers for occasional flat or sharp notes when their orchestra offers such a variety of tonalities from which to choose. Ouch! And still, thank you for the video. Tartness aside, this is still Mozart and it pleases my ear and my soul. Thank you for the music.
Maybe it's that your ear is at 440 hz. and the orchestra plays at 415. That's the problem. But it's your problem. Hearing this interpretation, each note chord sounds heavenly.
Who is conducting? He keeps the phrases very close together and moves well toward the sub-goals so that the whole coheres: not so easy to do in that trio.
MrKlemps Marc Minkowski. Despite the name, he's a French conductor and music educator. When he talks he sounds just as you might expect...quiet, gentle, and noble. This is the best performance of the trio I've ever heard, and I suspect the singers knew he was a big part of why.

Lezhneva is talented, with a lovely voice. But she can’t carry this role vocally or artistically even in an excerpt. She would do better to stick with baroque music, where she is exceptional. ❤
They have less volume because this is the tenderest of songs, and this group dares to make it almost a whisper. Inspired singing and perfect minimalist guidance from the podium. My favorite recording by far. (BTW as THE SINGER HIMSELF commented 5 years ago, his name is Sempey, not Sempley). Either way, wonderful singing.
So sehr ich Julia Lehzneva und Marianne Crebassa schätze (Florian Sempley war mir bis dato völlig unbekannt), diese Interpretation ist leider nicht gelungen. Die Sänger sind nicht zusammen, jeder singt vor sich hin, sie sind teilweise völlig neben dem Orchester. Fällt das niemandem sonst auf?
