There is just something about Morten, whether it's his story telling or his genuine excitement about, and love of, wildlife - perhaps it just boils down to his personality. You want to listen.
In an age of instant gratification, Morten Hilmer has the audacity to make a 40-minute TH-cam video about baking bread. It's a wonderful lesson in simplicity and patience bringing joy. Thank you for your efforts and lessons, Morten!

Great video once again Morten.your blind give away has made a very enthusiastic 14 year old a very happy young man,ive know Jack for a while and he’s such a nice young man who is so enthusiastic and passionate about wildlife photography, your give away will inspire him even more and hopefully make the next generation of great wildlife photographers.
I loved every minute of this Morten. I would rather watch you than any television programme. Sitting there by the fire with your animals and the peace found in cooking a loaf of bread, it was wonderful to see. I would love to do the same. Thank you so much for sharing. xx
What a inspiration you are to all Morten, not just to photographers but also to those just wanting to get out and enjoy wildlife. 39mins of watching you cook bread flew by....now I have to return to life and dream of getting out this autumn one last time and catching a snap of the stags in Glen Etive and perhaps cooking some bread of my own!
Nothing beats a hot cup to tea and freshly baked bread covered in butter. Watching this Morten has now made me hungry so maybe its time to make some home made bread and put the kettle on
I rarely ever look at scene...a time.. or place I wished I could be. But the look and sound of that bread was almost too much to think about. I could taste every bite... It was like a weird Bob Ross episode whereas you cut it -- left us hanging. And then pulled out that BUTTER.. it's very hard not to get so emotional over watching someone else be so emotional, over something they really enjoy doing. It's episodes like this that draw me to this channel. There is no replacement or covering up true emotion. You have given us this with each and every installment. It makes me happy -- you're so happy.
My wife like this video so much that now we have bought a Dutch oven. I fear that my attempt might not be a delicious as yours. I love the artwork on the walls behind you and the rugs and lighting. Awesome.
I chuckled through this video thinking, "This guy has it totally right." Love to see what your Jurte looks like in daytime. I am assuming this is a tent...getting back to a simpler time...we all need this. You inspire us all to walk away from the house and join nature. Certainly am going to pass this on to some of my friends. Thanks for sharing..can't wait for the next video...and don't worry about time....loved every minute!
So kind on you to write and so encouraging to hear that you get inspired by the video:) I will definitely make some videos from daytime as well. Such a jurte is absolutely awesome. It is like going into another world - into the past.
Pity we could not smell your lovely bread! The inside of your lovely jurte must have smelt awesome. I loved the crunchy sounds. Both the give away blind stories were lovely too. Thanks for sharing an evening in your jurte.
Again such a wonderful video! Your videos bring such a peace and calm along with catching myself smiling from ear to ear. I would rather watch you then anything Television has to offer. Thank you so much for sharing a bit of yourself with us.
We've all just sat completely rapt with awe over a loaf of bread baking, as if it was a bear and her cubs emerging from the woods. It's your genuine enthusiasm and delight that works that magic!! Great video, great setting, great bread.
Thank you, Morten, for sharing your so very interesting and heart-warming moments with us. I feel lucky to have discovered your channel. It's not just the photography that's so enjoyable, but your attitude, appreciation for, and approach to life that makes me such a fan.

Perfect to give it to that fourteen year old :) What a great start for him in this amazing lifestyle. Encouraging him to get out in the wild and not on the streets. Really awesome to hear. I bet he got really, really happy for it.
Morten, I just hope that you know how much pleasure you give from your photography and videos. You are like the wild Stag on the mountain, who tolerates the sensitive photographer watching him. You allow us a glimpse of your life. I watched this video for the third time this evening. At the end, I realised that I had smiled all the way through, for 40 minutes. The only time that I did not smile was when you used your knife to cut your freshly baked bread. That moment made me laugh out loud. I think everyone felt that moment with you. Best wishes.
I started watching your chanel for some tips on photography. I subscribed because I got caught up in your enthusiasm. I will remain because of your passion for life and all its wonders. You are like my therapist 😀 reminding me to see the beauty in the simple pleasures. Keep up the good work my friend.
Great photographer, great bushcrafter, great... coffee drinker! I discovered your work a few weeks ago and I'm simply delighted with your achievements, skills an poetry! Cheers Morten, and don't let your coffee getting cold 😉👍🏻
It really reminds me about our first experiments with the tiled stove in the old wooden cottage house. You have to put up the fire inside, then take off the warm ash and put the bread, cake dough or meat, whatever you want to bake. Some results were success, some...black as a coal mine :-) It's really the crucial point to learn how to asses the temperature, because you have no termostat. The old lady from the village told me to put a bit of flour inside and if it turns brown in couple of minutes, the temperature is fine for bread :D But it's still a challenge. Thanks Morten for sharing such super moments of your life!
It`s always a pleasure to watch your videos! This is the proof how relaxing easy life can be. Just a fire, a tent and a dough to bake some bread can make a man get happy. Glad I have my computer to share this moment with you.

I enjoyed this, Morten, your bread looked amazing, that end crust is the best part! I grew up in South Africa and we used to make "Potjiekos" in a dutch oven over hot coals or fire/embers like yours. Meat, vegetables and potatoes or rice, so yummy! Look on the internet for recipes for potjiekos, unless you already have something like that in your country. Nowadays I do the same kinds of recipes in the kitchen with a pressure cooker, but nothing beats the flavor from a dutch oven!
Just a superb entertaining video Morten. You made me smile. BTW:. Dutch Oven tip...or Camp Ovens as we call them in Australia. You want lots of good coals on the lid for baking and roasting, not underneath. We make a good fire and when it down to coals we use a shovel to move the fire aside. Place the camp oven on the hot ground but not on coals. Shovel red hot coals onto the lid and a little around the sides. A large loaf of bread normally takes about 35 minutes. Good Luck.
