Tae & IU both nailed it ❤LEGENDS 👑✨but i DON'T agree with that LWA story is abt disabled or minority ppl orApocalyptic , alien , zombie theorys interpretations takes & I also believe that it's NOT abt Tae and IU representing them both just as disable couple in a love story.... the MV has a defferent deeper meaning like Celebrites / artists like them in the entertainment industry judged by ppl/fans / haters abt their personal choices in life / love life IU ( her charecter is deaf or mute in the MV) representing ppl in love the ones who don't want to HEAR or TALK what the society /fans tell them wrong and right abt their personal life / Love life Taehyung (his character is partialy blind) representing True/pure LOVE = Love doesn't need to be perfect it just need to be TRUE or LOVE IS BLIND ( Tae showing almost every emotions of LOVE : Fear , cuteness , pure , tender , Joyful /playful , romance , togetherness . helplessness , bravery , Rage & at last > calmness = eternity of love......in 5 minute MV Dammnn!! The cube (6 perfect sides) & the figures in black hoods, also represent an attempt to obliterate the ‘imperfect’ - our boy & girl are (him) partially sighted, & (her) deaf & mute:
The video is a triumph - it makes us ask questions, & hopefully/eventually more viewers will wake up to the symbolism…

What a thoughtful reply! It made me ponder the massive size of the pile of clothing, and how many victims it might represent, as well as the absence of other living people. My take is that the cubes are targeting people as a whole, as we are all imperfect - our protagonists just display visible "imperfections".

IU produced and did the lyrics. her mvs always have deeper meaning. There's a sig when they first come in to the place when they find the camcorder that reads " " RISE FOR ALL" ...think thats a social commentary for the oppressors and for state of world , esp. these days. Most missed that sign..cause IU and V are so captivating. lol IU can't speak and V cant see out one eye... cube is like hate/society projections.Maybe we have to start standing up for love and for others discriminated or oppressed?
I feel IU and V have seen so much of how South Korea media, police and citizens can cause so much hate, pressure and judgement that people start to commit suicides at times. IU has known least 3 close idol young friends that exp this. Also recently, in headlines. Famous Actor from oscar winning movie "parasite" had recently passed due to all the pressure of media police, even though he was found negative in his drug tests. IU was main lead actress to him in a different show called. "My Mister". What an amazing message and masterpiece, truly deserves a Award in every category.

Such a beautiful and emotional video featuring amazing acting and vocals that makes the experience so personal. I really do hope that Tae & IU do other projects together both film and music as they have great chemistry and when he was on her show their voices also blended so well. Also at the end it was pointed out by someone that he can hear what is coming but she can't, while she can see what is coming but she covers his good eye so he can't. Both cry at the same moment though and from the same left eye. Also the right side of his face seems to have burn scars so maybe he had encountered a cube before but got away at the last minute. This cube was relentless in its pursuit and even seemed to change size so it could come into the building. Earlier when it was flying overhead you could tell no way it could fit inside those hallways. I also noticed the cube waits for them to stop fighting and accept their fate. If you notice there are no other people so obviously no person is able to meet the criteria this cube holds that would allow someone to survive. The camcorder that kept showing a better reality, was giving us the viewer a happier version of the events. They both rise in the air together, their bodies still solid, while the reality is that they have been turned to ash. At the top of the camcorder right before it turns off you see ash particles in the air. I also loved how the clothes landed together on the pile. Again all of this symbolizing that even though they seemingly lost to the cube, it couldn't destroy their love for each other. They stayed together in life and death, so indeed their love did win. I can't get enough of this MV, the acting is Oscar level and combined with the award worthy vocals and lyrics it's both heartbreaking but also heartwarming that at least they went together.
Cube is society oppression of those NOT PERFECT. Camera is what they see each other as "PERFECT". Not the past ( the background is current place). But perfect to each other. LOVE.

The people in the camera weren't so great, if you look carefully. So this mv is more a commentary about current times (as someone pointed out below) using a dystopian backdrop.
