Layover gave me healing this past week. You've already see one of my dogs on twt before. And he passed away 2wks ago, just few days after Layover was released. It gave me another connection and interpretation of the album. 😢Instead of a person leaving & longing for them to comeback.. It's my furbaby to me. And FOR US rlly struck my heart in a whole another level.. OHHHH... I WISH I COULD STAY WITH YOU 🥺😫 it's like my baby's saying it to me. And KNOW THAT I WILL WAIT FOR YOU.. me saying it to her. Gosh. Layover album is my #1, yoongi will understand 💜

V leaves plenty of room to have various interpretations of his album. While he did not write the songs for this particular album, he is a storyteller and he wanted to select songs with the right vibe that would tell a story that fits a specific time in someone's life such as romantic love. I also like the interpretation that it is a story about him and Army mentioned in the comments. I am sure we will get future work that he personally writes. He said the songs he had been writing were not working for his vision of the album. I can't wait to see what is next while I enjoy what he has already given us. I look forward to more live performances, his acting career, potential duets, and other genres.

Finally got to watch this reaction and it was great as usual!! When I first watched it I think my mouth hung open most of the way through because I was so blown away by his performances!! His voice is just so soothing and the songs so good!! His voice is what drew me to BTS ans his voice keeps me here. Along the way I fell in love with all 7 of them. I am continually surprised by their musicality!! BTW, did you see on Bangtan channel there are two more live performances by V and the band and in one of them there is an extra "treat" which had me just about scream lol. I won't spoil it in case you haven't seen it yet! Thanks for an awesome reaction as usual!!
I needed this after a shitty week, thank you Bryan, your humour brought a smile to my face, especially the comment about your band teacher😆 ps, pretty sure it’s a clarinet 😉 The mix on this performance was 😘 chefs kiss. The dynamic between everyone is sooo good. I’m so glad Tae has had the chance to really show off his strengths, those lower tones are just perfect, they have a way of calming me. I can never get enough of his velvety voice and beautiful smile.

Ok, long comment on my theory. On the basis that Tae asked us to listen to the album in order of the track list. There is the obvious interpretation that the songs are about the stages of a break with someone - ‘Rainy Days’ just before it ends. ‘Blue’ the ending of the relationship as she moves to California and so wants Tannie back. ‘Love Me Again, realising he still wants the relationship and reflecting what went wrong. ‘Slow Dancing’, escaping the misery and dreaming about being happier and reminiscing about the relationship whilst he waits. ‘For Us’, the realisation the they are in separate location and they both still want the relationship and will wait for the other because he is a singer and always on the road. I see another interpretation that also fits. This is about V’s life and his relationship with army. ‘Rainy Days’ which is him (Tae) going about his normal life and missing performing in front of army, as BTS are on a hiatus and where Tannie would be present. Also the lyrics fit the idea that as there was a lot of hate and scandals about him over the last year (thinking about you - army, what to say, wish I knew how to find my way back to…). ‘Blue’ where he is V of BTS the shining idol, looking for someone and feeling blue as he will be away during military service. He also wants to get his dog back and be back to his real self. Tannie being featured is also key as he will be missing him when he enlists. ‘Love Me Again’ highlights V of BTS, the shining idol, glammed out performing and how he is missing someone/army? Asking army to love him again as scandals switched off some fans? Even a prelude to being worried that the enlistment for a long period could mean army could loose interest in him/BTS. ‘Slow Dancing’, where he is dreaming and then wakes up and is back with ‘tannie’. This is MV is almost like snapshots/memories that he is creating about things close to him, hence we see Tannie everywhere and I think there were seven people/‘friends’ including Tae, maybe representing the bts members, then the pic being just all of him, which could reflect that he is now going to be on his own when he enlists. Even the beach, travel scenes reflect his trips with the bts members as Tae is known by the members as the happiness preacher and arranges holidays for the group. Here it’s Tae and not the shining idol. ‘For Us’, the MV is an epilogue, meaning conclusion. Based on the lyrics and his outfits, this fits the relationship with someone interpretation as they are both living apart and still want a relationship, that they are prepared to wait for each other. This works when you think that V (storyline character) is an artist always on the road which would affect the relationship and the realisation that it’s can’t work. In the interpretation of V and army, this is him wrapping up his album with this final song, the epilogue, giving you memories of all the songs and MV’s. Here he is showing us the glamorous images of V the shining Idol and also when he is just Tae. He told us that he wanted to show a part of who he is as a person and what he likes on this album. So we get the stage persona and his real persona being shown to army and lyrically telling us that he has to go, he wishes he could stay, come before it’s too late, I got things to say before I go etc… this together with the amount of content he is putting out is almost a poignant goodbye to army before he enlists. The large amount of content that he is leaving for fans, to tide them over while he is away doing his military service. Remember the tattoo on his neck from the ON era, at the time he told us that army makes up theories to BTS songs, so he did the tattoo in order for us to come up with one about the tattoo. Also, BTS are known for making music that can have multiple interpretations and it’s so like V to do it, being the creative artist he is. Tae has told us the concept of ‘Layover’ and that this album is the first ‘Layover’, that he will try different genres in future albums until he reaches his final destination. The ending of this album with ‘For Us’ really makes me think that the next ‘layover’ is the military service and then we will get more ‘layovers’ aka solo music (or acting?) on his return until he gets to his final destination. Multiple storylines in one cohesive album. An album where its aim was to show us what Tae likes musically and make us scratch our heads about the storylines. For me, this album is going to be on repeat and I really want a live version of this album because these types of songs are perfect to change up in live performances, as we saw in the Tiny Desk performance. And once again vocally flawless especially in all of his live performances, they sounded even better than the studio version. What a gift he gave us.

Their songs often don't have literal meaning. Tae actually didn't write most of these songs, he was going more for the vibe. He wanted congruent songs that told a story. That way, like he said, each song built from the previous. That was his goal.

Thanks, Bryan. I like Tiny Desk in general, BTS, RM & now V in particular. I played flute and oboe in band growing up, and no one played a soprano sax. Alto was the main sax, then tenor and baritone. It wasn't until I left home that I discovered the soprano sax in bands and Kenny G has sure made a good living with it. This is so good! I just have to keep watching it.🙂

Creo que a V en su país no lo valoran como deberían, veo mucho apoyo y premiaciones para los demas cantantes de BTS en solitario, quiza sea porque su musica es más comercial, pero esto que hace V simplemente es magico, te evoca a esa musica natural, hecha a base de instrumentos y no de consolas electronicas, y el intrumento de la voz de V es un medio de transporte, te subes en ella y viajas simplemente a dónde te quiere llevar, al amor, al recuerdo, o la felicidad. Hi Brian when I first saw Tae and Tiny desk, I knew it was a treat but then they performed another with them all sitting down more relaxed, and it was good but not like the first and you can see they all had a good time and happy to be there.
V is very, very afraid of loosing army during military, more than any other of members. So, my interpretation is that all those songs are advance sorrow of his and army's past and future (in Blue he is desperately looking for lost lover). Promise is one thing but life is LIFE...

The mix on this performance was 😘 chefs kiss. The dynamic between everyone is sooo good. I’m so glad Tae has had the chance to really show off his strengths, those lower tones are just perfect, they have a way of calming me. I can never get enough of his velvety voice and beautiful smile.

Ok, long comment on my theory.
On the basis that Tae asked us to listen to the album in order of the track list. There is the obvious interpretation that the songs are about the stages of a break with someone - ‘Rainy Days’ just before it ends. ‘Blue’ the ending of the relationship as she moves to California and so wants Tannie back. ‘Love Me Again, realising he still wants the relationship and reflecting what went wrong. ‘Slow Dancing’, escaping the misery and dreaming about being happier and reminiscing about the relationship whilst he waits. ‘For Us’, the realisation the they are in separate location and they both still want the relationship and will wait for the other because he is a singer and always on the road.
I see another interpretation that also fits. This is about V’s life and his relationship with army.
‘Rainy Days’ which is him (Tae) going about his normal life and missing performing in front of army, as BTS are on a hiatus and where Tannie would be present. Also the lyrics fit the idea that as there was a lot of hate and scandals about him over the last year (thinking about you - army, what to say, wish I knew how to find my way back to…).
‘Blue’ where he is V of BTS the shining idol, looking for someone and feeling blue as he will be away during military service. He also wants to get his dog back and be back to his real self. Tannie being featured is also key as he will be missing him when he enlists.
‘Love Me Again’ highlights V of BTS, the shining idol, glammed out performing and how he is missing someone/army? Asking army to love him again as scandals switched off some fans? Even a prelude to being worried that the enlistment for a long period could mean army could loose interest in him/BTS.
‘Slow Dancing’, where he is dreaming and then wakes up and is back with ‘tannie’. This is MV is almost like snapshots/memories that he is creating about things close to him, hence we see Tannie everywhere and I think there were seven people/‘friends’ including Tae, maybe representing the bts members, then the pic being just all of him, which could reflect that he is now going to be on his own when he enlists. Even the beach, travel scenes reflect his trips with the bts members as Tae is known by the members as the happiness preacher and arranges holidays for the group. Here it’s Tae and not the shining idol.
‘For Us’, the MV is an epilogue, meaning conclusion. Based on the lyrics and his outfits, this fits the relationship with someone interpretation as they are both living apart and still want a relationship, that they are prepared to wait for each other. This works when you think that V (storyline character) is an artist always on the road which would affect the relationship and the realisation that it’s can’t work. In the interpretation of V and army, this is him wrapping up his album with this final song, the epilogue, giving you memories of all the songs and MV’s. Here he is showing us the glamorous images of V the shining Idol and also when he is just Tae. He told us that he wanted to show a part of who he is as a person and what he likes on this album. So we get the stage persona and his real persona being shown to army and lyrically telling us that he has to go, he wishes he could stay, come before it’s too late, I got things to say before I go etc… this together with the amount of content he is putting out is almost a poignant goodbye to army before he enlists. The large amount of content that he is leaving for fans, to tide them over while he is away doing his military service.
Remember the tattoo on his neck from the ON era, at the time he told us that army makes up theories to BTS songs, so he did the tattoo in order for us to come up with one about the tattoo. Also, BTS are known for making music that can have multiple interpretations and it’s so like V to do it, being the creative artist he is.
Tae has told us the concept of ‘Layover’ and that this album is the first ‘Layover’, that he will try different genres in future albums until he reaches his final destination. The ending of this album with ‘For Us’ really makes me think that the next ‘layover’ is the military service and then we will get more ‘layovers’ aka solo music (or acting?) on his return until he gets to his final destination.
Multiple storylines in one cohesive album. An album where its aim was to show us what Tae likes musically and make us scratch our heads about the storylines.
For me, this album is going to be on repeat and I really want a live version of this album because these types of songs are perfect to change up in live performances, as we saw in the Tiny Desk performance. And once again vocally flawless especially in all of his live performances, they sounded even better than the studio version. What a gift he gave us.

Their songs often don't have literal meaning. Tae actually didn't write most of these songs, he was going more for the vibe. He wanted congruent songs that told a story. That way, like he said, each song built from the previous. That was his goal.

Thanks, Bryan. I like Tiny Desk in general, BTS, RM & now V in particular. I played flute and oboe in band growing up, and no one played a soprano sax. Alto was the main sax, then tenor and baritone. It wasn't until I left home that I discovered the soprano sax in bands and Kenny G has sure made a good living with it. This is so good! I just have to keep watching it.🙂

Claro que ya tengo Layover en mi playlist, pero en vivo, con esta banda maravillosa, esta a otro nivel. Creo que a V en su país no lo valoran como deberían, veo mucho apoyo y premiaciones para los demas cantantes de BTS en solitario, quiza sea porque su musica es más comercial, pero esto que hace V simplemente es magico, te evoca a esa musica natural, hecha a base de instrumentos y no de consolas electronicas, y el intrumento de la voz de V es un medio de transporte, te subes en ella y viajas simplemente a dónde te quiere llevar, al amor, al recuerdo, o la felicidad. Hi Brian when I first saw Tae and Tiny desk, I knew it was a treat but then they performed another with them all sitting down more relaxed, and it was good but not like the first and you can see they all had a good time and happy to be there.

V is very, very afraid of loosing army during military, more than any other of members. So, my interpretation is that all those songs are advance sorrow of his and army's past and future (in Blue he is desperately looking for lost lover). Promise is one thing but life is LIFE...
But some part of army already leaving him tho, you can see it from the lack of support he got fron this fandom to his music
