Listen to the Sheryl Crowe version from the movie De-Lovely.... It will surpass any other version because it is done with the meaning of the lyrics. It is achingly sad and beautiful. There is no bouncy orchestration to obscure the pain.
Beg to differ! Crowe wrecked a classic, just so she might claim to have made it hers. She did, and it was awful! It bore little resemblance to Cole's gem, and was easily the worst interpretation of the Porter songbook in the movie.

Michael Bublé your performance with Cole Porter's Begin the Beguine in my opion was a disaster because there seem to be no life in your singing & the tempo was too slow & worst of all the musical backing was terrible. I suggest you engage a big professional disco band to increase the tempo & rhythm & I guarantee a big hit for you. I listened to this recording a second time & I still find the musical backing very poor. In fact the band sounds tinny & the brush work seems that the guy in the band was using a bass broom. In my opinion Andy Williams version is the best.
