The most beautiful rendition I have yet heard of this great song. Mario's dramatic impact at the line "would the stars that were there before........return above you" forever" with an implication of a key shift in the orchestra left me with tears in my eyes.
Oh yeah....I got the willies when Mario and the orchestra got louder...in unison.
I loved it. Some dummies will now call it a Toxic Masculinity version!
I would suggest you listen to the Vic Damone version. But I agree this is a most certainly beautiful version especially doing it live.
One of my favorite songs, ever, and this rendition does it full justice--a voice that can really fulfill the deep, yet bittersweet passion of the lyrics and orchestral rhythm that lets you sway vicariously with the heady dance metaphor. He has a magnificent voice....wow, just wow, and thank you!

I love the arrangement of the orchestra as well as his voice . Great version .
Got chills at the end. Listened to a couple versions.....Frank, Andy, and Mario Lanzo's.....this one was the best....because the key was right...lower than Lanzo's....the music was more in line with tropical island music and not big band....nice strings at the end.....and a very full bodied baritone vocal with no annoying accent. Bravo!!!!

A perfect rendition with the right tempo and latin flavor missing in so many interpretations. Mario sings it to perfection despite his initial nervousness with all those words!
I love this big orchestral arrangement. Perfectly suited to this young man's splendid voice and lovely style and very pure technique. This version beats the Benny Goodman version by a mile. I like Goodman a lot -- but he misses it on this song. Sinatra has to carry the whole thing. Anyway -- Thank you. This is what I was hoping to hear tonight.
All the vocal versions of Begin the Beguine seem to be the same except this one with Mario. Dull and boring....Mario and the orchestra ratchet it up near the end and then end on a huge note. It makes it far more exciting.
My father loved this song, he was a great singer and admired Jorge Negrete the great mexican baritone, and this guy is up to that level.
