I watch this sort of thing and I think, it's so simple...why didn't I think of this? Then I remember that I'm a doofus. One of my goals for the coming year is to develop the ability to play harmonized melody, so I will be coming back to this video.
"Who's gonna be mad about an A7???" This my new life philosophy, used specifically in non-musical situations. Followed by"FROSTY!" The listener will think I'm crazy, but as a Jazzer, what's new about that? Thank you, Maestro. Super informative.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you from frosty Vermont, Jeremy! This totally helps with getting a better understanding of harmonies. Happy holidays and thank you for all you do for the Jazz piano community!!!
Yay, Frosty! Your explanation was so clear! And thanks for the tip about playing 2 piano keys with your thumb. I do like the "older style" of jazz, so I'll try these voicings often. Thanks so much. Happy holidays!
Thanks Jeremy. I enjoyed that. I'll have a crack at that tune "Frosty" later. Thanks for all your excellent content this year. Wishing you an enjoyable Christmas and all good things for 24. 😊 🤶 🎄
Happy holiday season, Jeremy! It's not as frosty as it could be here in Edmonton, Alberta but we'll be merry with or without it! Thank you for this great post and wishing you a great rest of the week. Love it and appreciate all you do for us wanna-be jazz pianists!
This is great! I’ve been trying to work on drop 2 and close position recently, and this gave me solid ideas for what to do when the standard passing dim chords don’t seem to quite work. Did you happen to go to Stanford Jazz Workshop back in the early 2000s? If so, I think we might have met in a piano class there!
love the locked hands Glen Miller band, Shearing piano sound, Thanks for the theory behind the great sound.
