    I love to watch blackbelts roll, they use little to no strength and rely on technique. I hate being a white belt as everyone I have to roll with is either 10kg heavier than me and way better or the people that are me level are 20-30kg heavier than me and just use their strength/weight :C Sucks being 60kg at 6"1

    • @General420smoke
      @General420smoke 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Brutal Whale yea it sucks in the beginning it took months before i started to land submissions. but keep practicing i landed a flying triangle once on a bigger guy it was very satisfying

    • @MrMMAHouse
      @MrMMAHouse 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +General420smoke i'm a brown belt and I like rolling with white or blue belts and NEVER use my strenght, like I have more technique then when I roll with them they usually go full power haha, so I just use only my technique and no strenght and I learn from that, and the roll is funkier

    • @666FLiP666
      @666FLiP666 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      MMA House Yeah I just meant I hate being white belt and my build, most of the other white belts in my gym have at least 15kg on me and mostly 20-30 :C I have rolled with a blue belt who was a 95kg Personal trainer, super strong and fit and he didn't use his strength at all it was so fun to roll with him ^^

  • @burnindownthehouse

    Quite different than catch wrestling. I'm used to watching catch wrestling. They have a balls to the wall approach to grappling. Jiu-Jitsu is an excellent grappling style. I do notice that catch wrestlers go for the submission more aggressively. It's submission over position. Catch wrestlers also often use joint locks (especially leg locks) and pressure points. Jiu-Jitsu practitioners often use a defensive style, which comes in handy for self-defense or even an MMA fight. I am not saying one style is better than the other, though. It would be silly to say one style is dominant over another style. I think it would be very wise to learn both styles. That's the best way to go for self-defense- learn how to fight so you don't have to.

    its ironic how during the whole build up to the fight, McGregor stressed importance of detail to movement in his training and philosophy. While conors striking is certainly very smooth, the fluidity and smoothness of nates rolling in the Gi, the transitions specifically... its on a diffrent level, something else truly

    • @steelstan3915
      @steelstan3915 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +fizetfos The professional fighter lol. No, it's just a flow roll, not competitive. I do a move, you do a move, I do a move, etc. You take turns, nobody finishes submissions or attempts to control or hold position. It's like drilling a single move, but includes action-reaction and transitions, etc. Just another perspective to practice jiu jitsu. Personally I don't enjoy "flow-rolling" much, but I'm a young athletic blue belt so I think that's typical. What works better for me is just rolling like normal but at my whim lazilly allowing someone to get something they've been fighting for or attempting "flashy" rolls, etc to better understand how people cling together, or transitioning from an armbar I would normally attempt to finish to a kimura, or whatever, but still finish submissions if my partner lets me get it, etc. I tend to get bored with flow rolling before the five-minute mark.

  • @TheLockon00
    @TheLockon00 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    While I also like Mcgregor, it's very clear the skill difference on the mat when you watch videos of him roll. Nate is very high-level.

    • @gentilewarrior
      @gentilewarrior 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Richard Harrow Nate has trained full-time with Cesar Gracie and is BFF with probably the best BJJ tournament competitior in Kron Gracie, he's as elite as the come. Conor is a novice and trains with John kavanagh who is on par with nate Diaz in the skills and level department, he's way below Nate, not even close.

    • @TheLockon00
      @TheLockon00 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ***** Well, in all fairness Kavanagh is the OG Irish black belt, and Conor got his brown from him about a year ago. Plus Conor trains with Gunnar Nelson on a daily basis. Conor's ground game is nothing to heckle, but yeah compared to Nate he's quite a ways behind.

    • @49912190

      Y'all really swear that Conor is trash on the ground. He proved how good he is on the ground against Max and Chad Mendes and he swept Nate in the first round in their first fight. Nate can choke anyone and Conor was stunned and gassed when he got choked. I'm not even a Conor fan but it's stupid seeing people really think he has no ground game.

    Also no disrespect to the GI... But especially for someone who actually fights in mma or ufc... U cant wear a GI & can clearly see how grabbing it can help u hold positions or help give more leverage in a transition that you wouldn't have when two guys are only wearing reebok shorts in the octagon...

    • @JTH43
      @JTH43 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's true... But look at the high level Jiu Jitsu guys in MMA and ADCC. A lot of them come from a GI background or used it until they reach a high level and then drop it. I think it's only going to improve your game to be threatened by more sweep/ submission options especially early on in your grappling journey!

    • @jasonrobbins7143
      @jasonrobbins7143 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah I think it goes both ways... Like especially when they r both sweaty after a few rds of fighting or rolling, the sweat alone makes it that much harder to catch someone in a submission like in the ufc with no GI... As opposed to being able to do things in practice your use to being able to do because of the leverage the GI gives you...
