Nice video Kev - small machine for smaller jobs, could fit into backyards to skid trees out, as for a weight kit, I agree she is light on the rear when loading, but as you get more comfortable with it you know the limits. Cheers

Ya it would be perfect for that. Even feeding a chipper if you had too.

That thing sure beats leading by hand. Mike Morgan made a great point the other day about his mini-skid - just about every hour on that little guy is a savings in hours on the larger (and more expensive) skidsteers. It would be nice if you were to get to a point where you could lift 2-3 logs with the grapple everytime, especially with the size of logs you have there.

Ya I was able to do a few logs of the smaller ones. The bigger ones are pretty heavy when you have them hanging out that far. It all comes down to time, which one gets the job done more efficient and cost effective. We can move the mini ourselves which is really handy.

Nice looking grapple. Kev I seen one the other day with a winch mounted on grapple. Now that would be cool for retrieval of logs in deep ravines. Now that would be interesting to see the limitations of machine and grapple pulling.

That would be interesting to see. You would need a blade on that winch so it can dig in and hold itself.

The winch guid pulleys were at top. Wondering if pushing grapple down into ground or maybe pick a small log up and grapple it and use it horizontally in front of machine. To stabilize. But what’s the power of machine no which just pulling on some snatch block rigging. ????

Sure not any Bota power!💪But it gets the job done! Can you see any better from your point of view than we can with that big plate on there? Wonder if a mesh pattern instead of solid on skid plate would help with weight and sight of view?
You looked a little hunched over when operating. I have not ran one but being tall like I am. Wonder if I would have the same feeling I get standing at the back of most fishing boats. The feeling I am gonna fall overboard forward because the wall is to low?😂

I noticed I was like that too and not sure why. I think I'm trying to rest my forearm so I can be smother on the controls? Now I'm going to have to watch all my footage I have to see why I'm doing that haha

@SkidderKev Like I said...I haven't run one personally. So you are resting forearms on handles to work controls smoother? All of our local tool rentals have some type of these machines now. I need to have one brought out for the weekend sometime so I can see what everyone is raving about!

I think the grapple is a bit big for the machine. If the grapple was scaled down it would be awesome. When Kevin was grabbing in the pile I think the big grapple was grabbing way too big a bite. Looked hard to pick out certain logs or pairs of logs. You’re not going to pick up a 40 inch log with this machine. At least I wouldn’t think. So why have such an oversized grapple? Smaller and less weight for this machine would make a great setup. My two cents. Peace

I agree william. That grapple is made for the bigger machines so all they really did was down size the quick plate. This was just a one off to see how it work and what they need to work on.

Ya. I'm so use to using the grapple too. Wish we got a set of forks for it too. We could try it out in the yard too
