    If it's colder the stuff won't work as well. Think you might want a clear coat primer and then a clear coat top coat with hardener ( 2K ) in order to get a durable finish.

    Never touch exposed metal that your going to clear coat with your bare hands the oils and acids from your skin will ruin your end product rubber gloves is a must and a wipe down with acetone before application is a must just for future reference other than that the frame is nice raw look is awesome.

    Done this a couple of years ago to a donor Volume Vessel v1 frame that had original paint plus it had been painted over with primer and another layer of some funky nail varnish that didn't want to come off easily. Took many attempts, turned out alright except the primer was difficult to remove from the welded areas. Never did clear coat it do you have some finished shots of your frame in clear gloss?

    I like the raw finish. I have used EvapoRust to remove the frame rust , but that is required a spray off, What polish removes rust? For paint stripper I think you want the paint type respirator, not a particulate one, and in 70 plus degrees eh? NIce raw finish though. I'd want all rust off for sure, doing that job in warm temps. I have to decide on how to re finish my MOntagner Italian road frame, it's loaded with chipped original paint, looks awful that way. My frame was chromed fully so paint over chrome really ends up like crap. I'd like to share the frame for ideas.

    Am I right?

    • @stuartgibson
      @stuartgibson  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much! The discoloured welds are visible through the translucent finish so yes I think that has been done on purpose and it does give a great effect raw. Besides that the initial finish has nothing to do with the end result.

    • @stuartgibson

      Well you need to get rid of the trans paint first. After that maybe take something like a fine sandpaper 1000grit+ or scotch brite to remove the rust. You'll lose the raw tubing and get a more polished look that way. Not much else you can do

      Try citristrip it's not as toxic to the skin and it starts working in minutes if you leave it on for over 30 minutes you can literally just start wiping the paint off with a rag. There may be stronger stuff on the market but this stuff is cheap doesn't tear your skin off and works great on frames.
