Ravelry has an amazing stash option that does a similar job of what you're describing to organize every yarn you have! And the info is usually already there in their site so you don't have to input everything by hand :)
You can spin your dog's fur, now that the seasons are changing, he should be shedding like crazy. Dog fur is actually really durable, water resistant, and warm. It's also nice to have a little keepsake of a beloved pet. There are even people who spin it for you.
I have those typo crates and they drive me nuts when they collapse like that! I’ll have to look into those kmart ones! I did a big stash reorder as well (mine’s note quite as big as yours but its enough), and boy did i find all my yarn everywhere…as well as my notions everywhere…i did come up with an idea of how to tell what’s what at a glance while watching your video - putting all the different weights/plys in different coloured crates eg sock in pink etc 😊 good luck with the de stash! Literally watched Knitty Natty just do that with her stash!
I have a few of the kmart ones too and I really like them. They’re not crazy strong so I wouldn’t keep anything too heavy in them but they’re great for yarn.
Please, please, please do share your Excel yarn organisation. I'm doing to know how you and others keep track of what they have in stash (other than Ravelry which drives me nuts at times 🙈)
I literally just did the exact same thing yesterday!! Quick question…where do you sell your yarn? I have a tub of yarn I’d also like to sell and I’m trying to figure out what the best platform for selling it would be ☺️.
Ravelry has a stash function have you tried it yet? It does everything you’re doing in excel but the yarn info is already there. If you weigh your yarn it will calculate how much you have left when you use your yarn. Also if your look up a pattern ravelry will tell you what yarn in your stash can work for that pattern.
@Tchikedy yesss! 😭 someone who gets me! So far I've only bought yarn with projects in mind so my stash is like, 30 ish skeins for 3 different sweaters 🤣 my dream is to be financially stable enough to just go on a yarn shopping spree until my fingers bleed 😈
Why not make a large blanket or even two with the super bulky yarn? That could be something real nice to cuddle up with on the couch watching a movie or even to make a bed spread with it. Your stash is so small in comparison to mine. In fact I haven’t seen anyone with a stash as large as mine and I feel horrible about it! Much of it is discontinued now. I used to keep it on shelves but now I keep it in large industrial clear totes. You know, the big ones! And I have 18-20 of them plus baskets. Ugh. It is horrible. And I have been buying more! I need to stop! I do understand though that 100% wool blankets are not the best option because washing is very difficult. So maybe selling is the best option.
Haha I think my stash is so big! But I guess it's big for my space. but I feel you, yarn addiction is real ha! I'm not much of a wool blanket person, and I imagine the dog fur that will get stuck to that type of yarn. Though I do love the idea, cleaning would be such a pain 😬
@@FridayKnits actually what ha-penned to grow my stash was the hospital where I worked had a yarn store that closed. The sold everything and every week they’d drop another percentage off. I was buying sweater quantities of yarn like Donegal tweed, or malibrigo wool cashmere blend etc for 75% off. I couldn’t pass it up. But omg I will probably die before I knit it all!

I've had a look I don't love it and I don't know why! It definitely looks practicable and great for stashing though!
Agree, once you take the time to make Ravelry work for you, it’s addictively good 😌

I’ve definitely thought about it and looked into it but it’s a lot to do myself and also a bit costly for me know but maybe sometime in the future
I would definitely look forward to this video!
the spreadsheet stash tracker is such a fantastic idea! I've been meaning to go through my yarn, so I might make one for myself, too!

Yes def look into those Kmart crates! They’re so good. Thank you and please share what you do with your yarn!

You can just use a a couple of cable ties to fix that issue.
@@didi8835 But then I have to cut them off to collapse them and I ain't got time for that!
This is so inspiring! Thank you ❤

On it!
The crates look great. I just have a huge white cupboard. I open it and can see all my stash... then I say to myself...what should I make this time 😂
The Dream!

Same! I bought a shelf and clear boxes yesterday 😄
Yay! I was going to sell them on my website or Instagram I.e just in stories

Yeah I don’t love it still though I’m not sure why 🤷🏻♀️
where can I find the mesh bags you have? I love them
They come with yarn orders from wool warehouse and love crafts. But I have seen them sometimes at craft stores or $2 shops
My dream is to one day have a stash as big as yours
Yas 👏
Oh oh, I see you're going to be one of us one day and own a SABLE (Stash Acquired Beyond Life Expectancy).😁

I really wanna go tidy up my stash now. But I can’t I’m crocheting 🧶
I would love anything you get rid of!!!

I started making yarn cosy’s with my scrap yarns and the patterns are by knittynatty
Oh yarn cosy’s are so cute!
