  • I just discovered a local footpath more or less right outside my doorstep, the Snowdonia Slate Trail [www.snowdonias...]. This particular trail starts at Y Fron, and heads down towards Dorothea Quarry and goes around the outskirts of the Pen yr Orsedd Quarry, and then back up to Y Fron.
It is a beautiful walk, especially when the weather is nice - remember to wear wellingtons though - can be a bit swampy at times!
Pen-yr-Orsedd quarry was a slate quarry in the Nantlle Valley in North Wales. It was one of the last slate quarries operating in North Wales and the last operating on the Nantlle area, finally closing in 1979.
Pen-yr-Orsedd was one of the major slate producers of the Nantlle Valley, supplying over 10,000 tons of product in 1864. It was also the last quarry in the vale that commercially produced slate, closing in 1979.
In 1862 the quarry was connected to the Nantlle Railway, with 3 ft 6 in (1,067 mm) narrow gauge lines extended to all but the highest levels of the quarry. Most levels of the quarry had both 3 ft 6 in (1,067 mm) narrow gauge and 2 ft (610 mm) narrow gauge trackwork, many with mixed gauge tracks. The Nantlle Railway connection was used up until 1963, while the internal 2 ft lines continued in limited use until the end of quarrying.

It really is, so lucky that it’s a walking distance from my house.

Im interested to know how many minutes of footage you captured for this video. The issue I have is that I get home and start editing my videos and always find that I can only create a 2- 3 minute video from my footage.

Well, I used 2 batteries during this flight, so let’s say between 40-50 mins flight, which should be around 20-30 mins worth of footage. I’m trying to be more ruthless with my editing and cutting more. This will be something I’ll learn over time.

@@mjuav7768 I think I need to get more footage on location. I always use at least one battery, but not even half of the second.

I’m tempted to get a 4th and 5th battery so that I can get more footage, and visit more locations in one day.
