I've lost count of how many times I've watched this and shared it. Please please please please do some more like this one! Like the world in general, the world of classical music can well do with performances imbued with levity such as this.
@@robertcook4705Just listened to her (again). This one's quicker and more consistently so. And I prefer the "energy" of this one. Not to "diss" Julia! She's a god! But I think this one comes closest to my idea of how it should go. I honestly think it should be faster and even more energetic, personally. One should be breathless afterwards, like you've been on an intense rollercoaster. But that's just me. I like VERY vigorous classical music. It's why I love Toscanini
I can't help commenting. Kim not only has a wonderful voice, nowadays comparable to Franco Fagioli's and Bejun Mehta's ones, not only he reveals himself as a real performer, mixing dance, acting and singing, but if he conceived all this he is a pure genius. A camp style opera with the glance of modern video makers and an hilarious quote of the musical golden age. So great from any point of view. I'm not surprised he is not very known here in Italy…. :(
OMFG I'm discovering this just now. That's the most genius silly idea ever. The first change of scenery has me burst into laughter and the back dancers look sooo ecstatic.
This is my favorite production of Giulio Cesare and your take on "Da Tempeste" is hilarious and extremely well done! Bravo! I wish that I could have seen the opera live at Glyndebourne. Based on your singing here, I'm sure that you were a terrific Nireno!
He sings this better than almost any other singer on this site. Certainly his diction is far superior to almost all and the light approach that was taken here to the staging certainly does not violate the musical beauty presented. Keep on singing, playing, and posting please
A bold claim and as these things are a matter of taste almost certainly wrong. The camp prancing, his vocal style and plinky piano accompaniment certainly makes for a different interpretation. Fortunately Handel’s legacy is strong enough to survive the odd insult.
There are no words for how happy this makes me. I maybe just watched it three times in a row. Love you, brother! And have been so glad to live vicariously through you over the years ❤️
This video is everything. I saw the McVicar production when it came to the Met and loved it. I had already been obsessed "al lampo dell'armi", making an electronic arrangement of it to use in a Moliere production I directed. I can't believe how wonderful this is. More More More!!!!
Vocally this is absolutely the equal of any other recorded Da tempeste, including Sutherland and Sills. It is a wonderful rendition which in the end must have been marvelous in the theatre.
Ok.... I just came home from the Wiener Staatsoper doing Julius Caesar. I hadn't checked the names of the singers (except Cecilia Bartoli) , I just assumed a woman was playing Sextus as always. This is a soprano part. Towards the end of the opera he took his shirt off and I was just.... wait a second.... what??? Beyond impressive. Fantastic performance from all singers this evening. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
Wow!!!! I’m currently working on this piece for my vocal repertoire. I’m a young performer as well and I just stumbled back into your channel via some old videos from 2009. I cannot BELIEVE this is who you turned out to be!!!! Bravo!!!
Brilliant male soprano. Such a rare sound of countertenors, where falsetet at the top is not heard, I only met two other singers - Radu Marian and Bruno de Sa
Hilarious. Interpretatively this has zero to with the character of Cleopatra… but this “No no Nanette” version is a total hoot. Vocally it is rather perfect. He would sound strong as the male characters in Guilio Cesare.
Wow!!--this is incredibly cute, even sexy in the gayest kind of way, while remaining vocally magnificent and musically superb. You just get better (and more adorable) all the time!!

SEconded.
Epic beyond words! Joyous!
It’s is the same choreography Dessay did. I love it!
Finally! Someone who sings this at a decent tempo!
Julia Lezhneva??

Kimchilia. You are brilliant! Last night I met Bartoli in my dream. 😊Voila, I accidentally discovered you. I wish you well.

Sahrry! I guess I didn't properly retire from TH-cam.

Such a beautiful singing voice! I have never heard the song before but that was well performed! I am glad you decided to post another video!
I keep my mouth open!No words!he is dancing and singing with the same energy!!

Heaven help me, I just love this guy!!!
Sei un genio!!!!!!! adoro!
This is incredible honestly

Wow! I missed your silly college vlogs, but I'm so proud of you! This is amazing!
Thanks :)
Brilliant male soprano. Such a rare sound of countertenors, where falsetet at the top is not heard, I only met two other singers - Radu Marian and Bruno de Sa

That ending though!!
A true queen always ends with a timely and sensible dip (commonly known as a deathdrop).

I miss old jkimisyellow. It seems he started normal life now like us all and don't have free time to record videos anymore.
Who are the two dancers behind you at 4:42?
They are soprano Pureum Jo, who was the cover of Cleopatra for this summer, and Morgan Richards, our assistant director who ran the cover rehearsals.
Wow!!--this is incredibly cute, even sexy in the gayest kind of way, while remaining vocally magnificent and musically superb. You just get better (and more adorable) all the time!!
Your voice's color and your coloraturas are better than Bartoli' ones! Are you a virtuoso coloratura countertenor?
I would love to listen you singing some religious piece like stabat mater and Poulenc's collection, omg
I almost forgot i subscribe to you.. May i know what happen? Why you stop vlogging? We miss ur funny video
Awesome.Much better than Bartoli...👍

Gorgeous voice and I'm so impressed you can sing this and dance just like De Niese, but the fuck is that choreography?
The dude must be sleeping in a tanning bed.

He is good but it's funny.
Operatic version of bts, omg.... It is so UwU

Truly a travesty, you may as well spit on Handel’s grave.
hahahahahahahahahaha
