I mean, chances are it was just a scrapped enemy, active item, or follower.... and all alt skins are unlocked by beating their past, like how the bullet's alt skin is unlocked by his past.
I feel they were used to test and see if enemies would aim at the player regardless of what character was selected.The veteran variant probably was used for the enemies having a death animation maybe?
to people saying they added dynamite in update, first off thats a prototype version where when you kill it, it doesn't shoot the explosions towards you, and added the regular skull and cross bones for the incoming explosion instead of just kind of swarming at you

Nevernamed You're gonna need some Unity know-how. Use a program of choice to sift through the game files, I used Unity Asset Studio due to it having previews. I've found Sprite sheets for unused characters, weird odds and ends that went unused, and a couple scripts that aren't used for anything anymore.
Is the first google result for Unity Asset Studio what you use? I can't find anything by that exact name, but I've found AssetStudio, which I think may be the same thing, but I'd rather be certain.
I've downloaded it, but I don't know how to run it. I have Visual Studio 2017 installed, if that helps. I apologise if this is an unnecessary hassle for you.

I like to think the fakery was a shotgun or vetran shotgun bullet kin, that faked being a normal one, so if a gungeoneer got close enough they would be caught off guard with a shotgun
Just wanna say cool video. I didn't know about these things (except obviously things now in AG&D) and I thought the Unused Muzzle Flare singing was funny, good work. Some of these things that are unused should really be used, like Bunker and Caterpillar, because that boss is cute and I wanna see a Gun Butterfly.
The dynamite kin is now included as enemy in last gungeons and draguns patch. I wasn't able to found it on the ammonomicon though. (it looks sightly different though)

Dont forget, the test dummy's name is a reference to when enter the gungeon doesn't know how you died, it puts you died by your own slow reflexes, so this was either an inside joke with the devs, or the kill screen just blames it on the template when it doesn't know how you died.
I'm fairly sure the template (in programming terms) is a parent of the bosses. The bosses inherit the properties like the intro, animation cutscenes and thus inherit the your own slow relfexes. It's an efficient way for programming where you reuse stuff and you only have to change the template to change every boss
Steelshotgun thats what the game is programmed to say. they just tape a 'fake' name, which is the bosses real name, onto it. so the game still thinks its called that, so thats what shows up when youre killed by a boss.
I think the fakery enemies were meant for either a specific area where you walk past them “kinda like meeting the dragon in DS2” to get to a boss or for decoration purposes
Theory on the fakery bullet kin. They where used to test the veteran and bandana bullet kin, because these two bullet kin will try to predict where the player will be and shoot in that area, basiclly making the player run into the bullets. Just a theory though.
The boss templates name being "Your own slow reflexes" make me think thats the boss they use to make it say that on what killed you, since it normally displays enemy names

(I presume) If you spawn in an item called the Ticket, you can spawn in the Friendly Gatling Gull legit. Also, the caterpillar at some point would undergo metamorphosis, and give you flight. I got this from the ETG wiki.
I remember seeing a video somewhere of a guy playing had a caterpillar spawn in when going into the black market esc shop, and it just followed him around and if it walked into an enemy it poisoned them

Friendly Gatling gull had it's use for a Gull Ticket active item (Can't remember the item's right name) Maybe developers kept it and didn't know how to use it (An active item, a synergy, a gun, a passive item). Now it's an active item.

Bullet kin fakeries were probably used in the tutorial to teach you dodge rolling or for some kind of enemy testing. ( Maybe they can be killed by pits or stage hazards in which case they were most likely used for that )

I think the friendly Gatling gull was the original reward for doing Gatling gull without getting hit.

'Your Own Slow Reflexes' is just what the game calls anything is doesn't otherwise have a name for ingame.
