    I began taking NAC for its immune-boosting during this COVID 19 pandemic. I found myself feeling especially well with improved mood and sense of well-being. I had been in a mild depression for months so I was curious as to why this was occurring. Videos such as this are giving me a wonderful insight into the great benefits of NAC. Thank you.

    I fought anxiety my whole life maybe even when i was 3-4 years old and i couldn't do anything about it and i didn't want to take medications. I tried every supplement (B vitamins, ashwagandha, vegetable powders, L-theanine, phenibut, chelators, keto, etc... i cant even name them all), but nothing worked.
    I recently started taking NAC and oh my god. I took 1000 mg first time. It started with an excited state feeling, like inner tremor but it wasn't unpleasant. It was like something was cleaning out of my system and i haven't felt it since then.
    After my first dose my anxiety is gone, i couldn't believe it, i never felt calm in my whole life. My muscle tenses are gone, chronic sinus congestion is better. Unfortunately i recently picked up an addiction (before NAC). After every dose of that addiction i feel great anxiety and depression but every time i take NAC it kills it and i feel calm again.
    Its saving my life.

    My son came down with Covid last Wednesday. Had high fevers Thursday too. My shipment from my uncles health food store came Thursday night. Gave him NAC and vitamin D, and zinc. By Friday morning he was totally fine. No fever, no runny nose which he had for weeks and no muscle aches ect. He has been perfect since. So blessed I found videos talking about NAC. Doctors need to be recommending this. Which they won’t
    Now my husband and I take it too.

    And Vitamin D is important for glutathione production. Recent studies suggest proper glutathione levels really helps reduce the oxidative stresses that cause the more deadly COVID complications for people with comorbidities like hypertension.

    • @stefanweilhartner4415
      @stefanweilhartner4415 4 ปีที่แล้ว +15

      it is all about inflammation. people with covid-19 die from inflammation. vitamin d modulates the cytokine storm.
      that means if you have a severe vitamin d deficiency there will be more inflammatory cytokines that are very destructive and you are likely to die by a factor of 10!!!!
      the other side is the protection from inflammation. and this is with glutathione.
      glutathione is made of three amino acids: glotamine, cysteine and glycine while glutamine is usually not a rate limiting factor. the other two are.
      so taking n-acetyl-cysteine and glycine is important.
      why supplementing? cystein is only in raw milk, eggs, meat and who beside rocky eats/drinks eggs raw?
      glycine is in the skin and joints/gelatine. not much in lean meat, who makes real bone broth and gulash??
      this is why we have to supplement. it works very well. however with NAC or MSM i get stomack acid prpblems that i have to fix. taking it with sodium bicarbonate is better for my stomach

      FDA claims the acetylated version of cystine an amino acid...(NAC) is a drug. and sent love letters to all major retailers. No one will make a supplement that can't be bought. there's now only a niche market for it and i wouldn't even touch it/ FDA banned tryptophan around the same time SSRIs were coming out.. look into that. NAC directly affects lung and the immune system so it like many other supplements have been pulled from the market by the FDA because average people were gaining this knowledge.

    I suffer from a series of neurological and psychiatric disorders. Nine years ago, by mistake I once took 600mg of acetylcysteine a day when I was sad and whether through the placebo effect of from it's pharmacological profile I noticed that was doing better after a while and when I googled it I noticed that it was researched for psychiatric disorders.
    Although my experience is anecdotal I genuinely believe that there might be some misunderstood or even unknown mechanism of action that could be used for patient with psychiatric disorders.

    • @MaximC
      @MaximC 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would have added au tism, but since it's taboo to put this word with the word "va-nes" in same sentence, plus it's heavily censored by TH-cam and other platforms, I didn't include it in the original comment and I didn't write the two words normally because I don't want to risk the comment being ghost banned.

      In other words - a lot if not most cases of mental illness are actually physical in nature. Not physical in terms of "brain chemistry balance", but physical in terms of heavy metal toxicity, oxidative stress, low glutathione, mutated MTHFR, etc.

    • @PsychiatrySimplified
      @PsychiatrySimplified  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is an interesting question. Treatment of gallstones is outside this channel’s expertise: so with regards to clinical treatment please discuss this with your doctor as untreated gallstones can be associated with complications. From an academic point of view however - NAC has shown “ N-acetylcysteine significantly accelerates in vitro gallstone dissolution. We speculate that adjuvant therapy with an appropriate mucolytic agent may potentially increase the efficacy of clinical gallstone dissolution.” however as stated this is invitro - none the less an interesting hypothesis. A small clinical study in patients concluded - “We concluded that acetylcysteine can be used as a new agent for the direct dissolution of most types of gallstones in patients with cholelithiasis.”

    How can we reduce oxidative stress in food?
    Adding foods rich in antioxidants is one way to reduce oxidative stress. Healthcare providers recommend getting antioxidants from a variety of foods. That's because there isn't one antioxidant that's a superfood or responsible for knocking out all the free radicals.
    What measures can reduce oxidative stress?
    Making certain lifestyle and dietary changes may help reduce oxidative stress. These may include maintaining a healthy body weight, regularly exercising, and eating a balanced, healthful diet rich in fruits and vegetables.

    What about the animal studies of the cardiotoxic effects of NAC? Also, there was a study showing an increase in liver toxicity when taken during or directly after drinking alcohol.

      I wouldn't advise taking NAC or any other supplement with a beer or shot of whiskey.

    Digs up single paper from the 30s..
    "100 years ago we *knew* this"
    whoa, slow down there buddy. even in 2021 a single paper doesn't amount to much.

      Some papers, as he suggests this one is, are groundbreaking. Most aren’t, but advance the scientific dialogue only a bit. He is saying that this one SHOULD have been groundbreaking but for some reason (perhaps as simple as timing issues or medical politics) did not get the attention or follow-up it deserved at the time. This paper is not the only one in this category.

      @@annap7678 First of all, you're watering down his claims in order to make him seem more reasonable. He straight up announced that we "knew" this information in the 30s. That's what I take issue with. And nothing you said invalidates my point; said point being that a single paper does not demonstrate "knowledge." It was a working hypothesis at the time, and still is. Even today the evidence is nowhere near decisive. So to claim that we "knew" or even "know" any of this is invalid and deeply unscientific.
