I'm so disappointed to hear on bananapeppers people weren't as interested in this video! The numbers gotta be wonky or something, I've been waiting for this video for *years* and I was so happy to see you finally made it! I would LOVE to get more of your thoughts on movies, themes, actors, music, etc cuz your analysis would be so interesting, I could watch that for hours :^) This would probably be my favorite type of video from you if you ever wanted to make another one like this where you sit down and just discuss your favorite things in depth, maybe even in vlog style?

I hate that you feel like you have to justify every thought you have, just because of the people that will tear you to shreds in the comments. How do people not understand that we’re allowed our own opinions and not everything is said to cause offence.
God forbid someone say a bad word about someone else’s favourite film.

Malcolm McDowell was standing next to me at a pharmacy a few years ago. I said, “Wow, you made my day,” referring to seeing him. His reply was, Wow, you have low expectations.”

Yeah, I hate Clockwork Orange. I was in a film class in college and we had a movie day and we had to watch that movie. It made me sick and my anxiety got bad and I left early. Our teacher didn't give us the warning.

Big yes to the TV shows - I would really like to see that. I’m surprised by a few of your choices and I thought you would include stuff you didn’t and vice versa. I thought you would have some more horror movies in there. I also thought you might have included The Crow - for some reason I thought it might be a movie you would have really liked, you just give off that kinda vibe!
Also I think Back to the future 2 is the best of all 3! It just gets so complicated with the different versions of themselves in the 50’s - it’s great.

    The Shining
    RENT
    Girl Interrupted
    Rocky Horror
    Donnie Darko
    The Labrynth
    Nightmare Before Christmas
    The Evil Dead
    Billy Madison
It was hard to narrow down. and I'm sure if I took more time I would think of others. I really enjoy musicals so honestly I love Disney films because they are so musical. I was supposed I hadn't seen a lot of movies on your list including Clockwork. I will have to check some of these out :)

My favorite movie of all time is *Immortal Beloved* (1994) starring Gary Oldman and Isabella Rossellini [rated R]. "The story follows Ludwig van Beethoven's secretary and first biographer Anton Schindler (Jeroen Krabbé) as he attempts to ascertain the true identity of the Unsterbliche Geliebte (Immortal Beloved) addressed in three letters found in the late composer's private papers. Schindler journeys throughout the Austrian Empire interviewing women who might be potential candidates as well as through Beethoven's own tumultuous life."

Violence is awful and disturbing but when used properly, it allows filmmakers and writers explore themes that would otherwise not present themselves. You can abhor violence but still appreciate a film that includes it.

I have to say that I totally understand what your saying about Clockwork Orange. It's finely hard to get past all the violence at first to the underlying themes. I wouldn't say it's one of my favorites but it is definitely a well made movie. My husband loves it.

Stand by me is one of my favorite movies of all time! I was obsessed with it when I was a kid!!! And I love the short story it comes from the body. River Phoenix was so great in that movie, and I love him so much. I agree it is so sad that he died so young and the way he did. Such a talent gone to waste. It made me so happy that you mentioned stand by me. Most of of my friends have never heard of it. Seriously though swamp fam, if you have never watched that movie. Watch it. Warning. The language is pretty adult. But the music is great. Stand by me never fails to touch my heart and make me cry. It’s pretty much the view I have had on friendship my whole life. That movie means so much to me.

Thank you for explaining why you like Clockwork Orange. I haven't watched all of it because of the violence and theme. If you are telling people what you think then they have the choice of not watching the video so it doesn't spoil the movie before they watch it, and if they have seen them it allows discussion of the movie themes.
I now understand that I didn't like where CO was going and wouldn't have liked it had I seen it all the way through thanks to your explaining the film. Basically, he was who Charlie Manson was in real life, and to me, there was nothing there to admire, artistically presented or not. That's the same reason I didn't like In Cold Blood, Badlands, Bonnie and Clyde or films about the Menedez Bros. It's disturbing to me personally that those people are who they are but then films are made that seemingly glorify their personas. But this is my opinion and I've watched all these films. I just found CO, and others, too violent to continue watching because I didn't get the purpose, and never understood the artistic view of some of the 60s and 70s directors like Kubrick or Peckinpah.
Thank you for beginning a discussion of film and art. It's refreshing and something I miss having with people.
