Just got mine today! I was so disappointed to find that there is no headphone jack, as I like playing beside our bed after my wife is asleep and I enjoy the speech and other sounds. But, then you pointed out that the Bluetooth may be used for headphones and I happened to have some laying around that I never use. They paired up beautifully and stereo sound (like TH-cam videos) does actually come through in stereo!!!! Sounds perfect...way better than the on-board speaker! Thanks, Al!!!! Now I'm REALLY lovin' my new EVO!
Really like that Chessnut EVO is an integrated system. No smart phone, computer, nor tablet computer required, which eliminates bluetooth connection problems and frees up those devices for other tasks. Playing chess on-screen does nothing to prepare you to play chess over-the-board (OTB). Seeing, feeling, and touching actual chess pieces is important. Imagine future developments that enable the Chessnut EVO board to automatically move opponent's pieces. That would be so cool! As much as I like the idea of auto moving opponent's pieces, I wonder how Chessnut engineers would handle the problem of knights jumping over chess pieces???
"Hey! He's got a horse on his screen and I don't. I want a horse on my screen." Classic! Great video, thanks. I have been enjoying mine a lot, and Chessnut has been pushing out updates regularly.
I'm eagerly awaiting my Chessnut Evo but one thing that could be amazing for a future iteration or improvement on this board would be to double-hinge and center-pivot the screen section: ergo releasable at both ends so that you can angle towards you depending on which side you're playing. In fact, this design could automate the screen orientation rotation depending on which color one's playing although it still doesn't solve the need to rotate the whole board.
@@TFPMadcow I see where you're coming from. Perhaps yes, but make the tablet dockable to the board on both orientations and stowable so that it can work as a unit. However, what I was referring to was simply a center-pivot mount.
@@gvilla98 I’m looking more at other models they have, non integrated. Just like you, I like the idea of placing the tablet where I like and depending on where I’m using the board. I also like the fact that depending on the use case scenarios it could be mobile, tablet or even pc. I don’t like non play electronics to be in the board, because over time I will update the tablet for sure, while I’d like to keep the board for years. I’m still looking for an example of something that I could not do with a Pro for example, that is enabled by the integration.
Interesting video - thanks for making it. |Any way to turn off the display of all legal moves every time you go to move a piece ? It's really annoying after a while.

They gave an update on Kickstarter on 25-Oct that stated - "Simultaneously, I'm excited to announce a new plan for Evo: In addition to English, we will be adding multilingual support for Evo. Based on the backer count on Kickstarter, the first languages we plan to support include German, French, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. To achieve this, we are seeking volunteers from our supporter community to provide translation and proofreading for us."

It can rotate the Display
@@loewe-lamm Yes, but what I'm referring to is a mechanism to incline/angle the screen to whatever side you're playing for better ergonomics.
You mean like a tablet, that you can put wherever you want during play?

In Dr wolf app all you need to do is change the board to green in the settings 👍
Hello Al, could you please tell me how to download the apps you mentioned onto the EVO? Thank you!
do the pieces hurt your eyes? I'm very particular about craftsmanship in chess pieces and can't tell how these plastic pieces look in real life
Interesting video - thanks for making it.

HI, does it make sense to wait a bit and hope reduced price?
No
Mine arrived yesterday
Do you know how I can flip the screen when I want to play as black?
Can one practice openings on the EVO?
I want to know what Chessnut is going to do as far as updating their software. I don't want to know what you "feel" like they are going to do.
Is it true that stockfish and LCO make the moves in a second and never analyze the moves??
Which electronic chessboard do you recommend for a serious user?
Can you share the led color pattern you used for the pieces? Want the same colors
fantastic great video!! thnx Su chess
Plastic or metal body?
How much is it
Is it better than the square of chess board
Creo no no hay ventas para Colombia. Sabes porque?. O como puedo hacer ?.

👍😊
video starts at 7:00
also the sliding of the pieces needed to be adjusted for with delay is pathetic.
Your intro is much too long. You took 5 mins to say you’re doing an update video.
