We got a bottle to do a review on and were disappointed by it expecting a lot more considering how much people pay on secondary for it. I think there are a lot of other bottles out there easier to get and better flavor profile.
I've tasted this one time at a bar in my area and it was a pleasant sipping whiskey. I've never seen a bottle of Elmer T. Lee for sale in my area. I certainly wouldn't pay secondary market prices for it!
I had it at a friend’s house and I wasn’t overly impressed. He has all the stuff you have to hunt so I’m generally clueless about MSRP prices on it but I’ve learned that those things aren’t any better than what I’ve got on my shelf.
I'm so confused about what makes some of these whiskeys so popular. I get the hunting/bragging/showing off aspect but I don't fully understand how certain bottles become so sought after to begin with...more often than not when I get an allocated bottle it isn't particularly special compared to stuff that sits on the shelf.

This is the nostalgic bottle we drank in college and had not seen for years so when it showed up locally for $250 I grabbed two! Not that I regret doing so, as I keep it for when my college buddies visit and we get to walk down memory lane, but yea it wasn’t a wise decision. Occasionally I see it at bars for $15-$20 and would definitely recommend trying it that way. Thankfully I can still find ER for $40-$45 at stores. A bunch of store picks recently dropped and I was able to grab 4-5 from a few different stores. I’m set for a while!!

Just got a bottle today. Had to buy a liquor gift basket with 3 bottles of wine and a Bulliet Manhattan mixed cocktail. Ended up paying 175 all together with taxes, so i probably ended up paying retail. Sippin’ it as watch your review.
It is good. My store has if for $250. I cannot see spending that for a $40 bottle
Don't waste your money. There is nothing special about elmer. Its simple and thats it. It's not even worth 40 dollars.
Allocation day Saturday… would you get a Elmer T L for $49 or heaven hill 17 year for $299

I walked in to a small town store one random night and they had a bottle of this on the counter. I asked how much and they said 60. Instantly acquired

I think so. Secondary on a Coy Hill is higher than ETL too.
Plus the coy hill tastes soooooo much better

I agree with everyone else, I used to buy it every day for $37. Used to prefer it over Eagle Rare, but I'm not willing to overpay for it.

I am done with buffalo trace altogether. Here in fla a bottle of Eagle 10 year is over 100.00 bucks . they can keep all of it
