That's great to hear thank you. I'm also working on digitone course part 1 at the moment. Layer parts will get into detail in this kind of thing I do in this video
Mindblowing. Watching the vid over and over again. Here‘s what I believe I‘m seeing: BD and BS on T1, using pool&plock LD&PD on T2 SH&HH each on T3/4, where HH track speed x2 On Pattern changes, love the use of 1st trigs Not hearing any %trigs? Of course Fn&yes - drop machine Love the pattern length trick for the 2nd half of the break Insane work on params/filter/fx Did I miss anything?
Wow this sounds great. Cant believe how complex this sounds. The first 10 seconds I thought well ive made this track before but after that its outstanding what you did.
@@Links... ah you mean during the break. Yeah one of the tracks in the break is set to a 1/4 scale. So it runs 4 times as slow as the other tracks. Cheers
Thanks! Yeah worked out pretty nicely. It's the filter that's doing the trick on track 1 where it actually hipasses the kick as long as I keep moving the knob (how filter is locked to the kick) while at the same time opening the filter on the bass line.
@@Davemech I also made a Digitone video, but unfortunately it’s not a live performance like yours, which is definitely respectable. th-cam.com/video/AKt6CzSE4SE/w-d-xo.html
Holy Moses you really nailed this one here. I used to own a Digitone and saw many good dn-only performances but this one just got me asking the important questions such as WHAAAA? and holy crap what just happened?? and how the hell did he do that?
Hi Paul, thank you ! This track does use multiple patterns ;). I think I could actually squeeze this into pattern by using sound locks and give up on how I used FILL in this current recording, and that would be a bit of a bit of a nightmare to program.
i mean, i just wish i didn't partially break my headphones before listening to this (they are currently being held together with paddle pop sticks and sticky tape), that being said, even with a half broken listening medium this Still sounds incredible! As always, sick jam brother! damn you know how to make elektron gear sing!
Definitely the best use of an elektron device I've every seen! Can you explain how you went from the breakdown back to the main loop at 2:56? I'm not seeing you switch patterns there??
Thanks Christian! I'm switching patterns but I'm doing that pretty much immediately after going I to the break pattern. The break pattern chain length is set to 512 steps so I can switch to the next pattern at the beginning of the break and not worry about it anymore :)
@@Tymensliuzas scale mode, set ch.length to up to 1024 steps. But it just means it will switch after the set amount of steps, not that the sequencer length is longer than its 64 steps ;)
Trying to dissect the track but I fail to grasp how everything fits in four tracks. Must be some form of multiplexing of more sounds in each track I guess. A true mastering of limited resources! Almost like the 4 channel mods in the tracker era in the 90'!
Thanks for listening Fred :) (one of or cats is called Fred!). One of the things to realize that might explain it a bit is that I'm using a dedicated pattern for the break where the string sound that stacks to 4 voices replaces the hihat track. But yeah still need to maximize resources to get this much out of it. I think I can squeeze even a bit more out of it . Stay tuned :)
This is amazing!!! And only on DN?!? I hope you consider doing a track dissection on this one and explain how you made this on the DN. Or maybe thats in the coming course :)
Thanks! Yeap only DN :) Dissection of this track won't be part of the first part of the course. In part 1 is more aimed towards really understanding FM synthesis, sound design and building a basic groove. In the second part I expect to dive a lot deeper into how you could create a groove like this. 👍🏻
Hell yeah!!!! Got a Digitone on the way 😊
Nice! Enjoy :)
Well damn - that's more than I thought a Digitone was capable of. This genre suits you.
Thanks Boyd ❤️
Excellent production ! there seems to be no limit to what the digitone can do !
Yes! Thank you!
Dave does some really great music! And really demonstrates what is possible from just one device.
Thank you 🙏
The build at 2:45 until the drop is absolutely incredible - super inspiring me to get back to the Digitone.

U see a master the digitone course in the near future😁
Haha certainly
@@Davemech I second this suggestion. That is an amazingly well done piece. Would gladly support any instruction you do for this device. 👍🏻

Keep coming back to this one, imho best performance I've ever seen on YT on any Elektron device! Hope that DN course will be out soon :) Cheers!
Thanks ! Yeah working on it as we speak. Should finish recording today and then on to the editing process :)
@@Davemech glad to hear that :)
im learning to play with my digitone and this video inspired me so much
Stunning. I don't feel like I'm just listening to this, but instead, i'm bouncing along inside of it. I've saved this as an aspirational reference.
Such a nice comment, thank you ❤️

Woow super good i want to take the course

2:53 why did BPM slow down?
Hm? BPM is the same throughout

Wow, very cool to get this all from just the digitone, nice work!

A brilliant track Dave - inspiring that it was done with a single DN.
Thanks Daryl 🙏

There are a lot of good Digitone videos on youtube, but (for me) this is the best. (Quality performance, track, sounds, and of course synth.)

Reminds me of the Wipeout 3 game soundtrack. I love that game and album so much.

How did you do that string part at 2:12 with the consecutive added notes?
Multiple trigs with first 1 note, then 2, then 3, then 4. Length 128 steps i think. And track scale set to 1/2 :)
