    The conversation between Jesus and Jesse by the pool impacted me deeply. Sometimes we end up misplacing our faith in things, habits, or whatever else. And we end up there for a long time most of the time without knowing why. That hit me profoundly.

      You're right. So many people turn to astrology, tarot cards, ouiji boards and who knows what. The answers are not there. My prayer for them is that they turn to the true Source of their lives and futures, to the One who loves them without limit.

    I'm normally skeptical of reenactments of scriptural accounts. But The Chosen has won me over. It's not a literal retelling of the life of my Savior, but it illuminates deep truths for me, especially of the incredible humanity of the Son of God. It may not be for everyone, but give it a try.

    • @joelocampo8460
      @joelocampo8460 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I agree. I’m usually uncomfortable watching movies where human imagination is needed to fill in the gaps where Scripture is silent, just to make it a series or saga. But after watching up to Season 2, Episode 7 so far, they haven’t disappointed. Like you, I was hooked! It doesn’t contradict anything biblically and even adds more context to passages that I never appreciated as much until now. For example, I wasn’t aware that the pool at Bethesda (John 5:4) where people used to get healed was a pagan practice. We’re told that an angel stirs up the pool and people get healed if they’re there at that point. So Jesus shows that He is the real healer, the “Real Deal” and the man didn’t need that pool which he couldn’t get to anyway.

    I’m so grateful for the 2 of you and your channel. You do a great job of explaining first century practices and Jewish practices, along with the places where these stories occurred.
    The Chosen paints the picture and you provide detail about the activities, clothing, & scenery and what it means in the context of that time in history.
    My understanding of Biblical stories has so much more depth now.
    As you said in your discussion of the episode of the paralytic at the pool of Bethesda, we will no longer read the story in the Bible the same. These people have dimension and feel like real people in real places.

    Ohh I love love love your reactions to the chosen - especially your insight into the Jewish tradition is so helpful in understanding more of the underlying plot and the depth of things that I would usually just gloss over. So, thank you!

    Grafted, in the beginning scene, they were poking the boy's feet to see if he had any sensation in his legs.

      @@Grafted as a young person, I can see why you didn't see the significance of test-poking the boy's feet. FYI It is common for Drs. to do this when a person cannot walk/or if they have trouble with numbness or tingling in the feet. It can be neuropathy or diabetes.

    I watched your commentary on clips from ep 5 first, then this one. I am so disappointed that you haven't done all of Season one and the first 3 of Season 2. If you go back and do those episodes, I will definitely watch. I've been a Christian for 45 years, but it's only been in the last several years that I have studied more about Yeshua's First Century world and tried to understand the Bible more through Middle Eastern eyes. I've loved these discussions of yours. Thank you.

      Just found your channel and yes whether a reaction and review or maybe a review with maybe something like this, a breakdown of the important scenes. That way you don't feel torn between commenting and maybe missing something.
      Your insights for this kind of be series would be really interesting.
