Level 100 Paladin rotation guide [FFXIV DAWNTRAIL Patch 7.05]

- Paladin (PLD) is a tank that juggles around physical and magical skills while also providing support skills to the party. With the dawntrail update,
Paladin gets a bit more complicated but still very flexible and less punishing
DPS wise even if you play it badly.
In this guide i will explain some rule of thumbs to the latest Paladin rotation,
while also showing the rotation itself so you can understand it better.

Then again, the potency loss per fof window is not that bad. One Confiteor crit and ur good to go.
If you don't want to overcomplicate your life, by all means just do the normal filler
PS: there, I turned off the action not ready sfx fk u guys lmao
Yo man, thanks for this video. It really helped me understand the concepts of PLDs rotation.
Heard the first statement and instantly liked the video lmfao, good stuff
Your ideal combo here seems like a hell of a lot of effort for 30 potency, but I guess that's the difference between the folks at the top and us folks in the middle.
not really, a confiteor crit can make up for it. even I think it's pretty dumb. But it is the optimized rotation, so.....
I guarantuee you, you can get 99s without this optimization. Crit variance is a much bigger role than doing this optimzation and lolno it is not the difference between the top and the middle. more like difference between 99.9 and 99.8 with same crit luck.
Thanks for this, will use this as my guide when I start playing FF XIV again.
Thanks for the guide
@@devonjaphet8613 ur welcome 👍
Thank you for the vid,
Hey yo, I've noticed that there were sometimes you continued with the normal filler rotations after the burst, and sometimes you did the 3x Atonement combo. When do we use either?
the optimized filler is only necessary on the ones right before FoF window
@@aylaveen So if I understand correctly, we could use anything right after the FoF window, either the filler or 3x atonements, but we must use the filler right before the FoF window cooldowns are up right?
Hi hi, I love your videos so much. I hope you get more subs. :3 Will you covering a DRK rotation soon? Hope you continue to make more videos!
yes i will, currently working on it. thanks for the kind words
I was under the impression I’m supposed to use goring blade after the confeteor combo now. Is that not the case or does it depend on if your comp has raid buffs that fall off a bit faster than others?
you can put it anywhere but yes preferably within raid buff.
does this mean FoF I get different combos in FoF every time?
jesus
yes. currently paladin is impossible to loop since their filler rotation is 7 gcd per, so the last 3 gcd inside FoF will always be different no matter what your rotation is, Unless you're permanently holding Divine Might's Holy Spirit
I'm not sure I understand why you restart the 1-2-3 so many times in the filler. Why do Fast Blade and Riot Blade before finishing the Atonement combo. And why drop Holy Spirit in the middle of the Atonement combo? I'm guessing it somehow optimizes recasts or buffs, but it feels so unnatural to break up combos with other combos. But then, I'm not 100 yet, so maybe this is pretty common at that level.
Also, am I missing something or do you not use the other 3 stacks of Requiescat? Every time you hit Imperator you just right into the Confiteor combo and only seem to use Holy Spirit with Divine Might. Is three casts of Holy Spirit less DPS than just continuing looping the regular combo?
1. 123 combo doesn't break if you enter any atonement, so it doesn't restart
2. I explained why the fast-riot before finishing atonement on point 5 (priority system)
3. holy spirit is not dropped, since it's from the divine might buff, you can do it anytime as long as the buff didn't drop.
yes, it feels unnatural but it is the optimized rotation to achieve the highest amount of DPS.
@@TheRavenArchon the confiteor combo consumes the 3 req stacks
i have a problem. After multiple testing, while following that openener then filler, im left with 8 sec before FoF come back online (2.45 GCD actually)
the rotation demo is on 2.50 gcd, naturally if you do 2.45, it'll come up later since you will be doing more filler gcd.
If you mean the filler at 4:08, its missing the one Holy Spirit at the beginning and at the end
big thanks for the video, but I'm going to continue doing the same shit I've been doing in EW. I'm tired of having to memorize a bullshit rotation juggling half finished combos cause SE can't design a job to save their lives
I just do the braindead rotation after my opener, I only lose 100p over 10 minutes and none of it is in the 2 minute window.
Ty for the video but the one thing I struggle with is materia I’m not sure what I should meld
Crit Rate > Direct Hit > Determination > everything else
If you want to min-max you can look up your breakpoints but unless you're in top tier savage just follow that on every job pretty much. If you want PLD to feel good, aim for around a 2.5 GCD on PLD so meld skill speed to your preference.
Edit: nvm i'm a dummy lol
-Yes, with the first two FoF windows, you're doing 30p more than with the "normal" Aronement combo, but with the 3rd FoF you're losing 20p again cause you're left with RA > Atonement > HS.-
-So essentially every 3 FoF's, this (frankly weird) rotation gives you a potency increase of 10p.-
-(Your combo: 1st FoF 480p+440p+470p = 1390p 2nd FoF 460p+480p+470p = 1410p 3rd FoF 440p+470p+440p = 1350p, while the regular is 440p+460p+480p = 1380p every time)-
-While its fun to see how weird rotations can get to squeeze out as much damage as possible, i'm not gonna bother with this lol-
btw in case you haven't realized, there is no way to have a flat 1380p since playing in 2.47 - 2.50 means you have 24 gcds/min, and you have a 7 gcd filler and you will also find windows where you have 1340p (RA, Atonement, Supplication) but then again, as i mentioned in the video & the pinned comment - play what you want, the potency loss is no big deal
@@aylaveen Yeah after more actively paying attention to the rotation, there isn't really another way to do it without playing unoptimal or drifting.
I must've had the missconception that, because in EW the FoF was pretty much always the same, that it was the same case here, big sorry on my part there!
(plus because of my long break, i also didn't notice that FoF duration was changed from 25s to 20s)
I gotta say though, after alot of testing, what you're trying to explain at 2:50 is confusing
Beforehand you spend time to explain normal beginner stuff of how to use your OGCDs optimally
And then you jump to what skills to prioritize putting in your FoF window, and i feel like only showing Sepulchre, HS and Supplication, gives the impression that using other skills to fill these 3 slots would be wrong and could encourage players that aren't that familiar with PLD, to drift their rotation or making other mistakes, when in fact we have to fill those 3 slots with RA or Attonement aswell very frequently
Then you continue by showing one specific filler, that you want to execute, to achieve those 3 previously shown highest potency skills for the empty slots
But in practise, that filler you show there, is never performed in that specific way. The only section of that 9 GCD filler you're showing there that matters, is using the Attonement after RA.
But then also, the only time where it would matter that we use Attonement right after RA, is before the 4th FoF window
At no other point can i find a situation where we would absolutely have to RA into Attonement, so showing that very specific part of the rotation, right after explaining the basics is kinda confusing and i think you should've waited with that and instead point that difference out later, when you're actually showing the rotation.
I also realized during my testing, that the rotation only repeats after 7 FoF windows, so that means technically every filler is different from one another until then
So looks like PLD has borrowed a teeny tiny bit from old summoners "5-6 minute rotation" gameplay
Definitely too try hard for me, lmao. But good insight.
how did you know the size?
@@verxys i peeked
You have committed a massive FFXIV offense. You made a video without posting your glam. . . .
what's that sword?
kekw it's zantetsuken from the odin fate
ohhh what's that sword glam
Its from Odin. Zantetsuken
@@reef2025 Could you tell me how do you get it, please?
@@gabrielnovais871 You can obtain it from a rare random duty all over gridania that has a chance to spawn. Odin will appear with the face of the last person who killed him and if you complete the duty you get an item drop that allows you trade it in for either the weapon or a piece of his armor i think.
@@gabrielnovais871 incase of some confusion, the "duty" the previous reply mentions is a FATE, a special weather related FATE(Steel Reign) to be precise. The weather that spawns the special FATE is called "Tension", you can see it on your compass when you hover over it or if the area is covered in thick blueish fog. Be warned though said FATE is very hard to solo since you are synced and said FATE equals to fighting a boss, so I suggest getting a full party or two. Completing the FATE will reward you with Odin's Mantle (5 for Gold Rank) which you can trade in Mor Dhona from the left npc just north of the aetheryte.
yea what ppl saying - zantetsuken. best pld sword ever
😂 paladin is a tank. Tank jobs take damage. Tank no job is care or do damage. The tank is to interrupt. Distract. Take the target to a corner and have intimate conversations .
lmao are you sure we're playing the same game
@@aylaveen They are definitely not playing the same game.
I just wish they made goring an off global. Would fix this mess
@@jonesybb423 Then you'd never see the animation
i'm sorry but i prefer losing 30p over having to play with a clunky rotation all the time lmao
I wouldn't call having extra flexibility thru unbroken combos a "clunky" rotation. That added flexibility is not just for an extra 30 potencies but also for handling uptime better.
Imagine a situation where you're forced to disengage during atonement combo. You'd shift holy spirit to be at the most appropriate time (the moment where you'd be out of melee range), rather than specifically before/after 1st, or after 3rd one. You might even carry it mid filler 1-2-3 if that lines up better with the fight.
Same thing would apply for burst, you might shift supplication or sepulture to earlier in the burst to accommodate forced downtime.
It's PLD's unique advantage compared to other tanks: the fact that its rotation is very flexible and has a ranged component. So, it's best not to play the job rigidly with a completely memorized rotation and to instead optimize depending on the fight mechanics. When you get used to it, the 30p is just a bonus, not the main reward.
@@geekwars3998 my thoughts exactly. having fun casting away from harms way while war is left with just throwing his puny tomahawk feels great
@@Wackywohoopizzaman97 understandable
@@morozoff7734sadly WAR still outdps PLD in all contents… maybe that will change in the upcoming patch (or worse).
@@jakeastside It’s a good thing then that that dps difference is marginal and the only people it will really matter for are world first players. Dps isn’t everything anyways.
I fucking hate SE job design, idk what the hell happened this expansion, but every combo or ability juggle, trick of gcd, or whatever, feels like a response to some bullshit bad design a job has
