  • This is an excerpt from a Meatsmith Harvest podcast 17 where Brandon and Lauren answer listener questions about farmsteading and animal harvesting. Topics range from how they seem to “do it all” to the heartache of processing animals to using every part of the animal, including blood and parts. They also talk about evaluating priorities and getting help when you can. In this short, Brandon goes over his ideas on pig parasite prevention.

How do you know if they have worms before you buy other than just the seller's word? Is there a way to test them?

Is it ok to put feed on the ground or does that increase the chance of parasites?

Super informative. Nothing like having a clean weaner (so I hear). Your baby looks like John Prine.

So could you plant Acorn trees and hazelnut trees around the pigs paddocked so when those nuts drop they would eat those and could you plant peanuts and a different paddock so they would eat that

If I saw a pig not eating I would immediately freak. A pig that doesn't eat is a sick pig.
