Definitely one of the best Pixar movies of all time. Beautiful written, emotional and creative. This was Pixar prime. As a kid, I thought the movie was based on a storybook but knowing now it’s an original idea from Pixar writers really shows how creative and brilliant Pixar were. The Whole movie of Up feels a storybook come to life.
Honestly, my paternal grandfather was the same way: his wife (my grandmother) died and he was miserable for the last 10 years of his life. So miserable and stubborn, not even death could take him. He had suffered a heart attack, a stroke, pneumonia, Type 2 Diabetes, he even managed to run himself over with his own car. He was... grumpy and sad and depressed. He only died in the nursing home because it was his time, not because of anything that was happening to him. And the loss of his wife, like with Carl in this film, broke him. Both my dad and I regret not showing him this film because he could definitely have identified and related to it on so many levels that neither me, nor my father, would ever be able to truly understand. So glad you guys checked this movie out, because it is such an awesome film that is just so perfect. My mom told me that the story is about letting go. Not forgetting the past or anything that happened, but letting go of the pain, letting go of longing for what was and living for the things that are. The movie is about letting go and focusing on living life, as opposed to just surviving it.
Up is a very depressing yet beautiful film which really made all our childhoods a bit special. Its always that one movie that still manages to pull your heart strings even after not seeing it for years. An absolute gem and memory we all love up thanks for the reaction bros and stay strong
As someone who lost his grandma to pancreatic cancer back in October, the opening scene and the scene where Carl flips through the Adventure Book never fails to tug on my heartstrings and turn me into a blubbering mess of a baby.

Russel gave Carl hope and the courage to keep on living. How he was before, Carl didn't care about anyone or how he'd die. He just wanted his wife back. I'm so glad you guys watched this movie and don't worry! We all cried along with ya'll.
Up is one of the most saddest Disney movies I've cried. The adventures was wild. Dug is so funny. RIP Ed Asner as Carl Fredricksen and Christopher Plummer as Charles Muntz 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾😭😭😭
The construction worker Carl hit at the beginning didn’t deserve it, he was trying to stop the other guy from backing his tractor over his mailbox and tried to help him fix it. Carl clearly felt terrible about lashing out at him
8:45 Fun Fact: It would cost 1.5 million dollars in Helium to lift that house. Not counting the balloons or wire, just helium. It costs around ~10,000 Dollars to move a 3 bedroom house, not including new foundation, just the moving.
in behind the scenes Muntz had multple ends, the first one is where he the final battle was in the ground and it ends with his obsession of hunting down Kevin to give the theme of his obsession consuming him and we don't see him die. The next one is where he just gets trapped in the house but the problem it gives is that it's like Ellie takes him down with him. the third is where he just gets lifted up by the balloons.

Up was the first movie that made me sad in the first five minutes seeing a man grow old with the love of his life and losing her and the threat losing his home while going to a retirement home by force made me tear up.
4:17 the way it cuts from him giving her a kiss to him sitting alone at her funeral is absolutely devastating. I’m sure like Carl in that moment, even though Ellie just gave him her book to clearly say what we’re thinking, that the audience had some desperate hope things would be okay. And then it cuts, and it’s not.
This movie is really emotional because they both grew older wanting to go to paradise falls but when Fredrick bought the tickets she falls to bed and dies without going to the place she dreamed of since the beginning and Fredrick felt really bad and sad that she didn't make it and decided to go there and make her dream true and he is not alone anymore he is with russel and dough living the best of life again.
There was an alternate ending to Muntz' defeat on the Pixar storyboards for the film. He would actually chase Kevin and the others in The Labyrinth but he gets lost and hints that he would die in there like the dogs he had sent in there.
Something I realized recently, is that from the furnace in Toy Story 3, to the Scare Games in Monsters University, to the bird in Bug’s Life, to pretty much the ENTIRETY of Up, to movies you guys haven’t even seen yet, Pixar is amazing at showing stressful situations. You can feel the tension in every scene so well, and I don’t hear people talk about it that much. My mom loves Up, and I agree, it’s fantastic. A sweet love story, a tragic loss, so much panic, and an underrated Pixar villain in Charles Muntz.
You guys have become part of my daily watching on TH-cam. Y'all are funny af and I can tell you do this because you like it. I hope to see y'all keep growing 🙏💯💪
8:00 The house is located in Utah according to google... which has castle doctrine. This typically protects home owners from lawsuits when people unlawfully interact with their home. A Lawyer could easily convince a Jury that these construction workers targeted his mailbox because of the clear sentimental value it represented, and when the offender failed to listen and tried to further damage the object his client defending his home. Not only that a good lawyer could counter sue because the construction work is unlawfully blocking access to the residential road, ensuring that our client here was trapped and forced to suffer constant noise pollution, constant harassment from construction workers, and now even attempting to damage his property in some sort of mob thug tactic? Not only is my client innocent, he is entitled to substantial financial restitution.
Yeah I know Civil and Criminal court are different, so aside from easily being able to convince a jury that there was reasonable doubt in Utah, the constructions workers would just offer to buy the land and allow him to keep and move the house IRL settling out of court.
no one points this part out as much but the addition of russell was what filled the hole when carl and ellie couldn't have babies of their own, russell is like the kid they could have had
I was hoping you guys would react to this movie someday! "UP" is one of my all time favorite Disney/Pixar films! In fact now that you've reacted to the movie you guys should consider reacting to the shorts. There are a number of them involving Dug.
