For the folks that do not know what a fossa is: A fossa is a carnivorous mammal native to Madagascar. Despite resembling a cat, it is actually more closely related to mongooses and other members of the Eupleridae family. The fossa is the largest predator on Madagascar and plays a crucial role in controlling the population of lemurs, which make up a significant part of its diet.
Fun Fact: the skeleton that is shown at 27:13 is actually named Amelia Airhart as revealed in the bottom left corner of the newspaper that the penguins were using as cover at 14:04 the name in question is a reference to a real life person named Amelia Earhart who sadly died in 1937, during an attempt to become the first woman to complete a circumnavigational flight of the globe in a Lockheed Model 10-E Electra airplane, Earhart and her navigator Fred Noonan disappeared near Howland Island in the central Pacific Ocean. The two were last seen in Lae, New Guinea, their last land stop before Howland Island. It is generally presumed they ran out of fuel, crashed into the ocean and died near Howland Island. Nearly one year and six months after she and Noonan disappeared, Earhart was officially declared dead.
That realization though.😂 Chris Rock and Jada Pinkett Smith being in this same movie is wild nowadays. This entire movie is just comedy gold. The "What A Wonderful World" sequence is peak, and so are any scene with the penguins or King Julien.
You know realistically if Alex, Gloria, and Melman stayed at the zoo and left Marty alone, the people would've just sent him back and upped security. But because they went after him they made the people think they were rebelling. So when they were blaming Marty for their situation, it was really their own fault.
The "Cookbook" at 31:25 is a reference to a Twilight Zone episode where aliens came to visit Earth and at the end the protagonist screamed the same thing. Classic episode.
Love that your username is alejandro because my friend alejandro told me that the spanish version has him say miercoles, which is censoring mierda which is shit in spanish
Fun fact: King Julian was supposed to be a much smaller role, barely having a few lines. But his VA was so good, they redid parts of the movie just to have him more involved.
Madagascar was on repeat when I was a kid, so I have a lot of nostalgia for it. The story can be predictable and when the jokes don't work they really don't work but I can forget those things.
The movie isn’t the greatest but it had a special place in my heart and a charm to it that it’s hard to say it’s a bad movie. Madagascar is the most cartoony and wackiest Dreamworks movie ever made. The second movie is so much better and had an actual engaging storyline.
@@GreatgunYu I think the first Madagascar movie is okay. Good at setting up the characters and the music, but that's about it. The sequels are good though.
People have varying opinions on this movie (and the franchise), but I think one thing has been unanimous from the start: The penguins are amazing! There's a reason they got their own spinoff movie and TV series.
The ‘foosa’ are actually supposed to be Fossa - they look kinda like a cross between a cat and a mongoose, and are the biggest carnivores that live in Madagascar.
41:10 Actually you’re pretty close. One of the fossa’s closest relatives is the hyena. Both are part of the Feliformia suborder, which subsequently makes both of them related to cats as well, albeit not quite as close as each other.
Sacha Baron Cohen “Borat” is the voice for King Julien he was originally only meant to have 2 lines but he improved with the accent and the writers loved it and gave him a bigger role in the movie
The Penguins were the Minions for this time before they even existed. They were huge during the mid and late 2000s. I think the Penguins had more merchandise made for them than the actual main characters.
fun fact; Tom McGrath, the voice of the leader penguin Skipper, isn't a voice actor. He's the director/writer and animator. But his voice is so perfect, you'd never even know
It’s always nice to escape the real world and watch movies and tv with you two. I feel like a third member watching with you guys. Thank you for making my day bros. ❤
The Madagascar movies are all really funny movies but the best thing to come out of this franchise is definitely the Netflix series All Hail King Julien. It's a spin-off series chronicling King Julien's reign as king of the lemurs. It's somewhat similar to Regular Show where it's accessible for kids but definitely written for adults first as it satirizes just about everything from the school system to Starbucks without being too on-the-nose about it. I highly recommend it even for those who didn't like the films.
Alot of people think that Male Lions are lazy and do nothing but sleep and eat before anybody else, but believe it or not Male lions do join hunts when the lionesses go after giraffes/buffalo/elephants or something stronger. However Male lions are the protectors of the prides, they battle hyenas, leopards and other lions that try to invade the pride. There's numerous cases where young adult brother lions hunt together and take over prides which are called " Coalitions".
After you done watch the original Madagascar movie series including the Penguins of Madagascar movies watch the Penguins of Madagascar TV series. Love your hilarious reactions. Keep it up!
When Marty was surfing with the dolphins, it's almost like the theme song of Miami Vice. The slow motion one with Alex and Marty is the name of the song. Vangelis - Chariots Of Fire. The lemur name is King Julien, Cedric The Entertainer is the voice and played as Maurice, and the squirrel is Mort.
Yeah, Jada and Chris were both in his movie working together, and now what a tragic moment at the Oscars, I don't know if these two are going to want to work together now. even IF.. DWA decision of they make Madagascar 4 but it might not happen. Don't know yet.
The Madagascar films are among my favorite films from Dreamworks. Granted, they fall short of some of the other films like Kung Fu Panda, and How to Train Your Dragon(imo), but I still like how they turned out, as they are really fun and entertaining.
Well, I think it's not really fair to compare Madagascar with Panda and How to Train Your Dragon, after all they leaned more toward storytelling and serious tone. Madagascar's main goal is to be over the top and wild.
Beautiful thing about DreamWorks is that they don't really make the same type of movie twice, but if you know them, you can still tell it's them. Mostly because of the adult humor (y'all should watch the Trolls movies).
The scene that showed alex in slow motion just about to claw Marty and that music 40:15 🎵🎶 you were saying sounded familiar was the theme from national geographic that was the original national geographic theme music
40:17 the music sounds familiar if you've ever seen old-school National Geographic. The Planet of the Apes and National Geographic references were the only pop-culture references out of the many they used that made me actually laugh in this movie.
Madagascar is inhabited by native species that you can't find anywhere else in the world. Fossa are a unique species with no relation to anything feline, which includes lions.
This has been one of the best films to come out of DreamWorks, I suggest watching the Penguins of Madagascar series that came out on Nickelodeon, I think it’s one of the best and funniest that I recommend.

They're real? I just thought they were made up for the movie. (The name at least)
Also, they're actually called fossa, the lemurs just pronounce them funny.
I’ve been know what a foosa is
@KhepriProductions2022 you're actually right about the name being fake. Its Fossa
I mean, Mongoose and Fossa are Feliforme animals so-

Yes, That is true. But to be fair Marty actually did them a favor anyway. He got them out of the zoo. And able to explore the world.
